This hotel is excellent, offering incredible value for money. It's definitely the top choice on Mount Kirishima. The private hot springs are absolutely amazing!

This minshuku is located quite near Miyanoura port, the owners are super nice and they have a public bath that is perfect after a trekking day in Yakushima.

Richmond hotel was located opposite a big department store, with easy access to bus and trams. A combini is just opposite the hotel. They have a wider range of personal amenities to pick at the lobby. They have 3 machines to handle checkout, exchange currency (e.g. 1000¥ to 100¥ coins for laundry machines on 6th floor, or break 10,000¥ to smaller notes). The machines also accept your hotel parking charges. When it was raining, hotel provided full size umbrellas for use, without deposit or giving room numbers, which is very convenient. It has a car park with limited lots, so if you can secure one ,it will be very easy to unload and load your bags. Costs 2400¥ for 2 nights of parking. Main place for food is closer to Tenmonkan area, which is walkable.

We absolutely loved this stay and would recommend it to all travellers! We booked the corner room. The room was well illuminated by natural light during the day and we could see the river from our room. At night we could even hear the water flowing. There were two western single beds but we asked for futons for the full Japanese experience and loved it! The room was spacious and clean. There was a bathtub in the bathroom but we used the public bath (male and female separated) which was amazing. The public bath was quiet and spacious and there was a sauna room. Breakfast was served during 7am -830am with a well set table as shown in the picture. The staff was super kind. Just note that the walls were thin and you should expect some noise but people here are generally used to keeping their voice down. Another highlight is that you can take the bus of both the red and blue lines at the bus stop right in front of the hotel. (The blue line is for Shiratani Unsuikyo.). It is very convenient if you are not driving. The hotel is around 25 mins away from the ferry port and the walk there was pleasant and not difficult to find. Yet another great thing about this place is that you can rent mountaineering gear here at a cheap price, including shoes and rain protection. We rented the shoes here at 1,xxx yen per person (forgot the exact price) and they were very useful. It was raining for almost the whole 5h hike for us and the shoes offered a good grip and were sufficiently waterproof. You can also find little souvenirs at their shop. Honestly, it's impeccable!

Amazing! Spacious rooms with views in all directions. Everything was thought out to the last detail, even the tea and coffee set featuring local teas set the mood for rest and relaxation in such a wonderful place. Breakfasts and dinners were on par with the best restaurants, with sushi and wagyu available every evening. The lounge bar delighted us with interesting cocktails, and the onsen with its ocean view allowed us to truly enjoy the trip.

Despite the rainy weather everyone seemed really friendly and easy going. The staff took great care of our needs and was really attentive. Even though we dont speak Japanese, communication was possible. Some people of the staff also spoke English. The room and amenities were great and clean.

We stayed here to celebrate after recovering from a serious illness. Even though we checked in early because my father wasn't feeling well, they allowed us to enter the room early and were very kind and helpful. The welcome drinks and sweets were a welcome respite. The food was also well-prepared, beautifully presented, and delicious. Above all, the kindness and politeness of the staff made us feel very welcome. If I were to be picky, I would say that there should have been a ramp on the stairs to the bath, and that the toilet in our room was a little small and difficult to use. Everyone was able to relax and we left feeling very refreshed. Thank you very much.

The location is great, right in front of the tram stop, and there are many good restaurants nearby. The public bath is also a nice touch for unwinding after a long day. I booked a twin room, and as expected for a Japanese business hotel, it was small. I had to open my suitcase near the entrance as there wasn't a separate luggage rack. On the second floor, there's a reception area where you can enjoy unlimited coffee and other drinks. While the amenities aren't extensive, they are well-stocked at the reception. There's also a gym, and the breakfast restaurant offers a fantastic view, especially for catching the sunrise over Sakurajima in the morning.

This hotel boasts a perfect location, directly opposite JR Kagoshima-Chuo Station, and is conveniently connected to the station and bus terminal via an underground passage. This makes it incredibly easy to access the Shinkansen, city trams, and airport buses. What's even better is that the hotel lobby and some guest rooms offer breathtaking views, allowing you to take in the magnificent Sakurajima volcano and the dazzling city night lights. As mentioned in other reviews, the rooms are spotless and well-equipped, truly embodying the consistent cleanliness and thoughtful design characteristic of Japanese hotels. Enjoying the breakfast buffet in the morning, featuring dishes prepared with local Kagoshima ingredients, was a highlight. In particular, getting to savor the traditional and delicious 'chicken rice' made with rich chicken broth was a fantastic way to energize for the day's adventures.
