„If you want a more authentic experience than staying in a fancy hotel, this is your place. Mrs Liu (sp?) was so lovely and helpful. She speaks a bit of English and is very fast on the translation apps for what she doesn’t know. She gave us a map of the Ancient City and explained where we should visit. Every day she gave us water bottles. We stayed 2 nights. You can experience a kang bed here, in a cozy room in a quaint courtyard. It was quite firm but still comfortable. There is air con which was needed when we were there. The bathroom is small but we found that everything didn’t get wet, despite the small size of the room. The inn is on the “taxi-bus” route just off South Street. As it is a block from the Main Street it is significantly quieter as the honking of “taxi-buses” doesn’t happen as much in the alleyways. Just be careful to walk on the sides of the road as the mopeds and taxi-buses are electric so quiet, except for the honking which is loud and constant, and they drive quite fast for the size and busyness of the streets. There is plenty of food places just a short walk away from the hotel. The ancient city was a lot more touristy than we had expected. You need to prearrange with the innkeeper to organise a “taxi-bus” to pick you up from the South Gate. Regular cars are not allowed inside the city wall. We were dropped by the DiDi but it is too far and busy to walk with luggage to the inn. Mrs Liu and her husband helped us out with their mopeds. Not many “taxi-bus” drivers know the inn as it is a smaller private hotel, so make sure you have the address printed out to show them. The taxi-bus is 10RMB pp per ride and you can flag them down anywhere on the streets they are allowed on, but they may not want to go where you want to go, so just flag another one until you get one that agrees. You scan the drivers QR code to pay. Overall we enjoyed our stay at Pingyao Yunshu Inn.”

„Overall good stay. Staff are polite and helpful. Clean, super big room with a swing and projector TV. Perhaps for my 2 young kids under 8. 2 big bed. Allow late check out on our last day, plus point. Washer and dryer just outside our room. Breakfast was excellant but have to walk 10 mins- in minus 3 degree 😆 Didi drop off is 200m walk away. Its ok. Room drain choke on 2nd day but they fix it fast (someone off the basement suction pump). Highly recommended.”

Late at night a bowl of hot soup, the stomach warmed, the heart is also practical, that simple care than any welcome ceremony is real. It’s really not easy to take a taxi here. I have to do something the next day. The proprietress specially asked someone to drive us there. The red envelope was also confiscated. , I feel really embarrassed Focus on the weather in Datong. I came from Hangzhou. Hangzhou was really stuffy and hot in July. The body temperature felt fast at 40 degrees, and the body was always sticky. But as soon as I arrived in Datong on the evening of July 19, there was a dry cool breeze out of the airport, and I felt that the whole person was comfortable. At night, there was no window in the room, the wind wrapped in dry air and gently blown in, the cover was just right, and the air conditioner was not needed at all. I slept until dawn. In the morning, the skin is refreshing, and the hair is not as easy to oil as in Hangzhou. This dry summer night is really enjoyable for southerners. Let's talk about the room. The first feeling of pushing the door in is spacious, clean and comfortable. The overall decoration is the kind of simple log wind, the wall is warm white artistic paint, the floor is covered with light-colored wood brick, and it is not cold to step on barefoot. There are not many furniture, but everything is very textured - a big bed facing the floor-to-ceiling window, a rattan-made recliner by the window, a small coffee table next to it, a kettle and cups are placed in wooden trays, neat and neat. What surprised me most was that when the curtains were opened, I could see the quiet street view and the distant mountain shadow. The light came in during the day, and the whole room was warm. The bedding is made of cotton and hemp, it is very comfortable to sleep close to the body, the pillow is just soft and hard, it is also considered that I have stayed in so many hotels, and the experience is ranked in the top 10 😂 What I want to boast about most is the private soup in the room. The soup pool is embedded in a corner of the window. It is not big, just enough for two people to soak in side by side. When the water vapor is steaming, it has a special atmosphere. The boss was very sincere and told me directly that this was a real hot spring from the underground. A few kilometers next to it was a volcanic group. The water temperature was about 35 degrees, not hot or cold, and the whole person was loose from the shoulder to the sole of his feet when he soaked in. I soaked for about half an hour, and I could obviously feel that my skin was slippery. I was tired during the day and was soaked in hot water. The boss said that the water contained sulfur and metasilicate. After the soak, it was really transparent and I slept very heavily at night. And when you soak in the soup, you don't have to go out of the room, wear a bathrobe and walk two steps to get into the water, how long you want to soak for, this privacy and convenience is incomparable to the hotel's public pool. The decoration style of the whole homestay is also very unified. From the lobby to the corridor to the room, it is the kind of clean log with warm light, no fancy decoration, but every corner makes people feel comfortable and relaxed. The proprietress said that the design was her own eye, and it could be seen that it did take a lot of thought. The next morning, the proprietress came to ask if she slept well, talked a few words, and stuffed a small gift when she checked out. As the first guest, I was really a little drummed at first, but I found that the bedding was comfortable, hot water was sufficient, and soundproofed. I used my heart everywhere. If you are tired of the sticky summer in the south, want to find a quiet place to blow the dry wind, soak in real hot springs, it is worth a visit here.
