W łazienkach szampon i żel do kąpieli dostępny bez opłaty, na czwartym piętrze pralka i proszek też dostępne standardowo bez opłaty. W pokojach sporo miejsca i dużo lokersy.

I stayed at Hi Cozy Youth Hostel in Shanghai for 3 nights and had a really pleasant experience overall. The location is very convenient, making it easy to get around the city and explore nearby attractions. You can walk around 5-10 min to Metro East Nanjing exit 1 station. The hostel has a cozy and welcoming atmosphere, which made me feel comfortable from the moment I arrived.
The staff were friendly and helpful, always ready to assist with directions or recommendations. The check-in process was smooth, and communication was easy even if you’re not fluent in Chinese.
The room was clean and well-maintained, with comfortable bedding that made it easy to rest after a long day of exploring Shanghai. The shared spaces were also nice, especially for relaxing or meeting other travelers.
For the price, I think this hostel offers great value. It’s a good option whether you’re traveling solo or with friends and looking for a budget-friendly place with a warm vibe.
Overall, I enjoyed my stay and would definitely consider coming back next time I visit Shanghai.

Location is 15 minute walk to line 8, staff is friendly and helped me look for my lost portable charger.
They give you a package of tooth brush, tissues and soap upon arrival and the rooms are clean.

My friends and I chose this hostel for our trip to Shanghai, and we were really impressed. It's super clean, every corner is spotless, and there's no unpleasant smell in either the common areas or the dorms. The service is excellent, and the facilities are comprehensive – the beds are comfortable, there's plenty of storage, and the hot water in the washrooms is reliable. The location is fantastic too, close to the Bund and Nanjing Road, making it really convenient for sightseeing.
I found this place by looking for a neighborhood with a bit of nightlife and local energy, and it ended up being a great fit — especially for the price.
I was expecting a more traditional hostel setup, but it’s actually a hybrid between a capsule hotel and a hostel. My room had six capsule-style beds, each with a clean, modern design and a surprisingly cozy feel. The lighting inside the pods was especially well done — soft, warm, and diffused through wood finishes instead of harsh LED lighting. As someone who works visually, I really appreciated that detail.
From the moment I arrived, the staff were incredibly helpful. There was a bit of a language barrier, but between their effort and translation apps, communication was easy. They got me checked in smoothly, offered small touches like cookies at the front desk, and provided essentials like slippers, a toothbrush, and even a disposable bath towel — which I hadn’t seen before.
The building itself is quite new, so there’s that “new construction” smell in some areas, and like many places in Shanghai, there’s a bit of cigarette smell in common areas and bathrooms. That said, my room itself was clean and didn’t have any smoke smell. The mattress was very comfortable — I actually scored a 99 sleep score during my stay.
I got lucky with a quiet roommate, but overall the setup felt private, secure, and well-designed for rest.
The bathrooms were mostly clean and new, though there were some early issues with drainage in the showers. Nothing major, but worth noting.
One of the highlights for me was the common area — a bright, warm space with large windows where you can eat, work, or just relax. It’s open 24/7 and stocked with free tea, coffee, and even a really cool water dispenser where you can choose exact temperature and volume. Small detail, but very useful.
The staff continued to impress throughout my stay — helping me with lockers, local apps like Alipay and WeChat, and even being flexible when I accidentally missed booking an extra night. They were also kind enough to hold my luggage until midnight on my last day.
As for the location — this really depends on your travel style. I didn’t see many other foreigners staying there, and it didn’t have a typical “hostel social” vibe. But for me, that was a plus. It felt very local, with tons of restaurants, cafes, bike access, and easy transit nearby. I was able to explore the city more like a resident than a tourist, which I always prefer.
For around $15 a night, this place offers incredible value. If you’re looking for something polished, social, or upscale, this might not be your spot. But if you want a clean, modern, local experience at a great price — it’s hard to beat.
This hostel was great for me as a female solo traveler. The rooms and cubicles were clean (I think it depends on who your roommates are). I like that the bed cubicles were nice and neat. You also get a little closet with a lock where you can safely store your things. The bathrooms were fairly clean too. Be sure to bring your towel and oral hygiene products. If you are not used to hardwood beds, this is not the place for you. Overall, my experience was great.

Outstanding
KKlara MinzakoThe hostel was in the BEST location, just a 1 min walk to Nanjing Road. There were coffee shops and convenience stores next door so that also comes in handy. The staff were friendly but didn’t give much information when I checked in, just gave me my card and then left me to figure out everything else. The dorm room was nice (I stayed in a 4 bed female), there was enough space for luggage, good AC. The mattress is a little thin so could be uncomfortable at times. The bathrooms were relatively clean, a lot of the times there was wet tissue and hair in sinks which made it unpleasant, but usually around midday when everyone is out and it has been cleaned the bathrooms were fine. Laundry is ok, lots of washing machines but no dryer. You have to hang your clothes up in this room that is FULL of other clothes.
I say all of this but the price for the stay in Shanghai is unbeatable.

Environment: Very good
Facilities: Good
Hygiene: Decent
Service: Wow, the experience exceeded my expectations! The room had great natural light, no strange odors, and even the corners were clean. The bedding was soft, and the bathroom had plenty of hot water. The front desk staff patiently explained the local attractions, and their service was really thoughtful. The location is close to the subway and tourist spots, making it super convenient for getting around. Highly recommend!
DDulvxiaoshuaiThey provide a set of three bed linens (pillowcase, sheet, and duvet cover), and each new guest gets fresh ones, which a staff member will help you put on. There's a small, lockable locker that requires a card swipe to open, perfect for storing clothes. You can also store luggage in the space next to the bed or by the door. I didn't have much stuff, just one suitcase and a backpack. I put my toiletries on the side of the stairs, valuables like my tablet in the locker, and my used clothes and backpack on top of my suitcase.
LLuanpaodeyouyuAfter a long day of traveling, checking in here instantly melted away my exhaustion. The entire place was meticulously cleaned, the bathroom was spotless and dry, and the bedding was soft. Each bunk had full privacy features, ensuring an undisturbed rest. The front desk staff, particularly 'Guoguo', was incredibly friendly, helpful, and reliable. The common lounge had a cozy, warm glow, and I enjoyed chatting with fellow travelers from all over, sharing interesting stories and even exploring local spots together. The owners were genuinely thoughtful and generous, freely sharing tips on local delicacies and hidden gems. This wasn't just a one-night stay; it was a wonderfully gentle encounter on my journey. Both the value for money and the overall experience were perfect. I wholeheartedly recommend it to solo travelers.

AAnonymous UserI had an amazing stay at this hotel! The location is absolutely perfect, making it easy to explore everything around. The hotel is very clean, comfortable, and has such a warm and welcoming atmosphere.
The staff are truly incredible and made my stay even more enjoyable. A special thank you to Elisa and Sophia, who were exceptionally kind, professional, and always ready to help with a smile.
This was a wonderful experience from start to finish, and I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone. I will definitely be coming back! 😊
GGuest UserThe room decor was incredibly thoughtful, vintage yet cozy. The cleanliness was impeccable; the floors and room were spotless and odor-free, which is truly a rare find in Shanghai. The common areas were also very comfortable, especially the dining table area which had a fantastic ambiance – it felt great just sitting and relaxing there. 🛋️ The owner was very kind, communication was smooth, and their recommendations were super helpful. Overall, for a short stay in Shanghai, this place was both quiet and unique, offering incredible value for money. I'll definitely choose it again next time!
MM616185****The hotel's location is convenient, with good transportation links nearby. The room layout is well-designed, and it's very clean. The soundproofing is also good, allowing for a quiet and peaceful rest.
TtonytravelsmondoI am grateful for Xiao Duan and Xiaolin for the help they’ve provided me!!
Great value hostel in a top location — a few honest tips for fellow travellers
The location is absolutely spot-on — right in the heart of things, couldn't ask for better. The staff were brilliant: genuinely helpful and welcoming. They gave me a disposable towel and tissues free of charge, which normally costs ¥3 — a small gesture, but a kind one that made a difference.
A few honest notes if you're coming from somewhere like Japan (as I was): manage your expectations on cleanliness. Japanese hostels spoil you — spotless rooms, no smells, the lot. China is different, and this place is no exception. The toilet had a bit of an odour, and the rooms could do with more regular ventilation. It's not a dealbreaker, but worth knowing.
On the plus side: free drinking water to fill your bottle, paid laundry on-site, and that unbeatable central location. The rooms themselves are decent enough nothing flash, but perfectly fine for the price.
Finding the place: Google Maps is patchy in China at best. I'd strongly recommend downloading Baidu Maps or Amap (高德地图) before you arrive — they're far more reliable here. If you do use Google Maps, cross-reference the address with the Chinese name 登巴客栈 (Dengba Hostel) to avoid ending up on the wrong side of town.
Overall, a solid 4-star stay — perhaps I'm slightly biased coming straight from Japan, but for the price and location, it's a sound choice.
GGuest UserLet me give an objective review of my experience:
When I arrived on the street outside the hostel, I saw the name, but once inside, there were no signs indicating which floor the hostel was on. I had to check Trip.com to find out. There were some issues during check-in. The front desk staff seemed groggy, as if they hadn't slept well.
I booked a 4-person dorm. Initially, I asked if the 6-8 person dorms also had no lower bunks. The front desk said the 6-person dorms still had lower bunks and asked if I wanted to switch, but couldn't refund the price difference. I suggested canceling my order and rebooking, but the front desk told me it was already confirmed and couldn't be refunded. But I hadn't even decided whether to switch, and you've already confirmed my check-in? Regardless, as a consumer, I have the right to choose. The front desk's handling was very unprofessional.
During check-in, the first room card they gave me led to a room full of girls. I have to ask, if I got into a misunderstanding and faced public criticism because of this, would the establishment take responsibility? After that incident, I went back to the front desk. The second time they gave me a room card, the '2' in the last digit looked like a '1', causing me to try swiping into another door multiple times without success. I had to go back to the front desk to find out the last digit was indeed a '2'. It took quite a while to finally check in successfully.
When I opened the door, I was stunned. I can confidently say this is the smallest room I've ever stayed in at any youth hostel. Forget about having space for luggage; there might not even be space for shoes. It seemed only one public toilet was usable, and it was a single stall. It could get very crowded. Although the only shower room worked fine, it had a somewhat unpleasant odor. I hope the establishment can improve the smell in the shower room.
Other aspects were decent. There's a lounge area, vending machines, and a washer and dryer. I still recommend that the front desk staff who checked me in get some proper rest.
