Hostels w: Nagasaki Prefecture, Japan

This hostel has some genuinely strong points, but also several issues that stop it from being a great stay. It’s very much a mix of highs and lows. The positives: The common room is comfortable, with very good sofas and fast Wi-Fi (though it occasionally drops out — a router upgrade would easily fix this). There’s a shared kitchen with a labelled fridge, and the location is excellent for exploring Nagasaki. Dorm rooms are good value for the price. Bed spaces are a decent size, with excellent blackout curtains that block light even if others leave the lights on. You also get a small lockbox for valuables. The negatives: Check-in is fully self-service with no reception. You’re given a folder with rules and keys, but if you need help, there’s no clear support — which can be stressful, especially for travellers without phone SIMs. There is no lift. I stayed on the fourth floor, and the narrow stairs make carrying luggage difficult. Facilities per floor are also limited: only one toilet and one shower shared between multiple dorms, plus the washer and dryer on the same floor, which feels insufficient and awkward. Extras are all paid separately (towels, toothbrushes, earplugs, etc.). A towel really should be included at this price. Guests are also expected to strip their own bedsheets at checkout, which feels excessive. The common room layout could be improved. A large hammock takes up space and reduces seating — replacing it with chairs or bar seating would make the area far more usable. There were also staff or long-term workers frequently occupying the common room, which made the space feel less guest-focused. Air conditioning is locked and cannot be adjusted, so if you’re too hot or cold, you have no control. Would I stay again? As a backpacker on a very tight budget, yes — tahe location and price make it workable. But if you can afford it, I’d recommend paying more for a private room nearby. There are many hotels in the area offering much better comfort and support.

It was a truly wonderful experience, touring the island on a motorbike which I rented from the hostel. Especially, driving on the North-Western peninsula became an unforgettable memory. Toured around several Catholic churches, watched the sunset over the sea, and drove to the tip of the peninsula. There were few cars on the road, so the journey to the torch felt as if I had the entire road to myself. It was absolutely special. I will definitely come back here someday in the future! The owner is such a kind and helpful person. The hostel is simple, yet it's more than enough for a budget trip for one night. The hostel is nice with a nice layout that gives you some privacy. However since every bed has its own light people just kept it on the whole night so I couldn’t sleep. Also the dormitory is small and showers and toilets are inside the room and people started to use the hairdryer early in the morning. The owners are nice tho, and when I complaint they gave me an eye mask as a gift which was very thoughtful. Location is great.

Very satisfied! It was so good that I have no other words to say! The owner and his wife were very polite and kind, and we had a very enjoyable stay! The showers and toilets were clean, and it wasn't like a capsule hotel, with 5 rooms on one floor, so it didn't feel cramped! It was just like the photos, so I can see why other people have praised it! At night, the statue of the 12 martyrs is lit up and you can see it clearly from the window! There is a slope to the hotel, but it is close to Nagasaki Station, so it is good for people who want to go sightseeing right away! The slope is quite steep, but other than that I am very satisfied! I wasn't able to go to Gunkanjima this time, so the next time I go to Nagasaki for revenge, I will definitely stay at this hotel!

Facilities: The room is spacious, about twice the size of a typical hotel room, and the bed is incredibly large, perfect for a family! Cleanliness: Clean and tidy, especially the bathroom, which is about 10 times larger than a typical hotel room. This room can conservatively sleep 4-6 people! Environment: There are large shopping malls and supermarkets within a few minutes' walk, making it very close. The train station is just across the street, making travel convenient and fast! Service: The owner, a Chinese who has lived in Japan for 40 years, is very knowledgeable about the country and treats every customer with care. He is attentive, attentive, and warm and comfortable!

There are trams and buses nearby with frequent services, which is quite convenient. The hostel is on the fourth floor and there is no elevator. It is not recommended to bring large suitcases. The reception staff is very enthusiastic, just like returning to a relative's house. There are many people staying here, and there is only one bathroom, so you need to queue up. You can store your things for free, but there are no lockers or locks. Washing machines and dryers are available for a fee, and you can also go to the rooftop to dry clothes. 25年に入ってから2回利用しました。 名前の通り、長崎港ターミナルからは至近で、五島列島など周辺離島への拠点にも良く、長崎駅からもそこまで離れていません。中華街や出島、長崎県美術館などの観光地へのアクセスも優良。 大浴場も、しっかり広くて、快適。価格を考えると、このクオリティのお風呂に、何回でも入れるのは、非常に優秀だと思う。 カプセルは若干の古さはあり、場合によっては近隣の人のいびきなどが聞こえることもありますが、概ね快適。ロッカーはかなり縦長で狭いので、大荷物の場合はフロントに預けたりが必要かもしれません。 長崎訪問の際には、また利用させていただきたいと思います。

The service was excellent. Our room had two air conditioners, but one wasn't working. Hotel staff came immediately to fix it, and although they couldn't repair it in the end, the hotel promptly arranged a complimentary extra room for us. Plus, we had personalized service for breakfast and dinner, enjoying a very traditional Kaiseki meal and beautiful sunset views. There's also a free 50-minute private onsen session, perfect for families to enjoy together, and you can borrow yukatas. By the way, when we visited, there weren't many Asians, mostly Japanese people. 🤫

6月から10月までの平日限定クルージングに参加したくて10月末に宿泊しました。クルージングは思ってた以上に最高で、ロケーションも抜群。迫力満点でした。 また違う季節にぜひ行ってみたいです。部屋もツインルームで大変広くオーシャンビューで大変快適な部屋でした。食事も夕食、朝食バイキングで種類も豊富で食べ切れない種類の多さでした。大満足の旅となりました。
