Hostels w: Niigata Prefecture, Japan

The owners were extremely accommodating. Their stated transport service from the homestay to the ski resort was 8am - 10am and 4pm - 5pm but because it was not very busy, the owners offered to drive us at 11am. They also sold tickets that were discounted and brought us to rent ski equipment for about half price of the hotel’s. The room is also spacious but modest. The owners speak mandarin as well so it was nice to have someone translate for us at the rental shop. This is a very good budget friendly option.

I came here during summer for Fuji Rock. In all honesty, it’s alright, the room is clean & the beds were comfortable, aircon works. Don’t expect much from the room, as there’s only 1 power socket in the room, so we had to share. It’s really just for sleeping. The shower is an open bathroom common in Japan & shared toilet situation, so just take note for travellers who aren’t comfortable for that kind of thing. But the good thing is that the shower area was clean, water is hot & great. Towels are provided although it’s a really small and thin one. There’s a free large area for parking near the place so that’s good. I’d think it would be great for winter as it’s right next to the gondola, but we didn’t experience that.

It was a hotel that I happened to find and booked, but it was the best! The most impressive thing was the delicious breakfast. It was good that delicious sake was free to drink, and white rice at dinner breakfast was free. It was a room without a bath toilet, but the common part was beautiful, so there was no problem at all.
