Hotel Alex an der Ahr

"We spent a weekend to wheel in Ahrtal. Alex is a very beautiful hotel in youth style. After the flood, as so much, completely renovated and beautiful. For bikers is provided with bike room & loading stations, we found super! The breakfast buffet was excellent. We had a standard double room, here the bathroom was very small, rather nothing for powerful people. What we missed was unfortunately the air conditioning, in hot days, it becomes sporty. When we spoke about the refrigerators, we were assured that they will still be exchanged. So here too, you are trying. The staff was very friendly! It is also worth mentioning the bar where you can mix a beautiful cocktail evening. All in all a very nice stay, we recommend Alex please continue!"

"Good location and the bathroom was lovely, the floor in my room creaked a lot so I had to walk around the outside so as not to disturb other guests. There was an issue on night 1 when some noisy residents in another block that started around midnight, by 01:45 I had had enough and went to sort it myself. I informed the reception the following day as there were no staff on the premises once the kitchen/bar staff left around. I asked what should I have done in light of no staff and was told I could call the main hotel number and someone would pick up as they do an on call rota. The drinking area outside the entrance to the hotel was also a source of noise albeit once that was generally quite after 23:00 and it would depend on which side of the hotel your room was on. It was very warm during my stay but unfortunately no fans were available for guest use and although the rooms had great windows it was very hard to ventilate when there was no breeze outside. The pillows are far too soft, I asked for 2 extra and managed to fold them in two and by using all 3 pillows it was near to what one would expect for a UK guest. The hotel was very clean and the staff were all nice, the breakfast was nothing special and having only 1 small toaster was not really good enough to suit the number of guests. The car park at the rear was OK so long as guests were respectful on how they parked and they are additional parking a short distance down the street. In summary I don't think Hotel Rieder offered good value for money and I am sorry to say that I would not stay there again. I know they are plenty of positive reviews but I have reviewed as I found, single traveller wanting a decent night's sleep in a quite room."

"We booked through *********** but seemed their system double booked us, ie booked 2 rooms rather than 1, Bethel Hotel Zum Weinberg showed absolutely no interest in what might have happened, instead simply saying you have 2 bookings, they are our cheapest rooms so you have to pay them both, even although on the same night…. *********** completely ignored us and the hotel staff would have been as well ignoring us, they simply took 2 payments and told us it was not possible to do anything. This is NOT the way to treat guests, especially if you don’t want negative reviews. They simply couldn’t care less and seemed happy they had one over us. Unfortunately *********** just turn the other way too. Terrible customer service."

"The hotel, or rather the complex with its many villas, was excellent. The rooms were very clean. The bathrooms and toilets were also clean. There were also small, fine details. For example, the kitchen was fully equipped; even the toilet paper had a nice touch. The view from the terrace and balcony was breathtakingly beautiful. I really enjoyed my stay with my friends; we felt at home. I would recommend it to anyone who wants to relax for a few days. Sincerely"

"Really disappointing. Car broke down in Calais, so we were stranded and had had no hope of getting there in time for our booking. Gave the hotel as much notice as possible (8 hours), and requested that they refund our room and breakfast but they refused. Needless to say we won't be booking there again and will tell the many travellers in our mototsports club to avoid aswell. Shame you couldn't be more sympathetic as you will now miss out on a lot of repeat business."

"The hotel is clean and beautifully located at the water. We were helped clean at arrival, but check-in in the room showed that we didn't get the room we booked. When we found that there was an administrative mistake, the room called the apartment was all full and we could be compensated. Because the room we had was beautiful and we would stay only one night, we didn't think we needed to pay much attention to this. The room we received was spacious, shower very beautiful and spacious. But a little careful since the end of 2025 the restaurant was closed. "Doskonała obsługa, dobry parking, dobra żywność i rozmiar pokoju. Jedynym dolnym bokiem jest potencjalne niebezpieczeństwo dojazdu do głównej drogi wyjścia z hotelu. Niestety nie zaoferowano nam pokoju z balkonem i widokiem na Rhine, chociaż hotel nie wydaje się być w pełni zarezerwowany, jak oczekiwałem, że zarezerwowałby się zaledwie kilka dni przed przyjazdem. Dodatkowa cena byłaby akceptowalna."

One review is just not enough 😪 It was a very special event organised by my " extended family " and the hotel and it's staff went all out to make this beautiful occasion memorable. Infrastructure- full of character, beautifully maintained. Each piece of furniture and art work stood out splendidly. Staff- the very backbone of this amazing property. A deadly combination of gracious hospitality and efficiency. A win win all the way. Food- just Wow ! The fish with kohlarabi, the clear tomato broth with the dumpling on the side, the date and curry butter/spread, the glamorous sorbet --- each course a masterpiece. Dear chef, take a bow ! You are highly talented 👏 Location- unbelievable! Absolutely stunning. You guys have exceeded all expectations. Will definitely recommend and visit again. Best of luck !"
