Hotel: This is our 2nd visit to this hotel and it was a good one again. – This is a honest review. All staff are amazing – they cannot do enough to help you. Girls on the pool bar were lovely. Except - the guy round the pool needs to accept that he doesn’t need to shout when using a microphone and the evening bar man needs a rocket up his backside, slow is an understatement I could have walked back to Manchester and made my own drink. Food is fine we ate in a lot but for me the problem was the drinks. I have allergies and can’t drink Coke Zero, the range of alcohol was terrible so couldnt switch to Sprite so we ended up at the local shop for a bottle of pernod and sat on the balcony each night. I have to say, never had this issue before ive always found something I could drink at other AI– but I guess that’s just a me thing. Rooms were massive and lovely balcony big as well, but the bathrooms are in dire need of an update the shower was awful and sprayed all over the room soaking everything in its way also a tatty shower curtain in a 5* hotel, seriously. Everything you need in the kitchen including washer and dishwasher, big fridge and freezer. Cleaner came in everyday, fresh towels etc Pool area was great, tbh the photos don’t do it justice its proper lovely, music on but not too loud, it didnt intrude on your conversation. Evening entertainment was ok, nowhere near as good as previous visit. Blooming heck the big chairs outside the bar were so uncomfy we ended up sitting at the dining tables. All in all – will we return, I don’t know at this point. They are charging 5* price for a 4* hotel, everything was just good, not fantastic. However saying that, the area will probably drag us back to the Fort Do Vale as there was way more positives than negatives. Area: It definitely our favourite, lovely little shops, restaurants a short walk, Bella Canela was amazing, we went for a cake treat, ended up with cocktails and sambuca in the sunshine. Road train stop outside hotel, 6 euro for a day pass hop on/hop off, lots of taxi’s and TUK TUK’s bobbing past constantly. It worked out at 3.50 euro in a taxi to the old town. TUK TUKs – they are pricey considering the price of a taxi, it was £10 to the old town and £15 to the marina. However, do it, it was a mix of excitement but also absolutely fear. Bobbing around the back streets of the old town was fantastic. Marina, our first visit and well worth it – lovely and relaxing afternoon, shops and bars. We ate at Fat Cats because there was a guy singing, blooming heck the prices were amazing value and the burger meal was that big we couldn’t finish it. Old town we ate in restaurant El rancho twice. First was lunch had the chicken fajitas to share, then 6 cocktails and 2 desserts came to 73 euro. That good we went for evening meal later in the week, I had the biggest piece of sword fish with a sauce/chips salad, my friend had the same but chicken, 2 cocktails and that was 54 euro. TBH t
