Antwerp is a curious town, apparently largely economically dependent on tourism. We stayed at CityStay, a six-unit hotel with no front desk and no breakfast service in the northwest part of the historic center. With the winding streets and frequently changing street names, the area made finding the hotel a bit tricky. Once there, however, we were very pleased. The large studio apartment was clearly the best that we stayed at in our three weeks in Central Europe. It was perfectly designed, furnished, equipped, and maintained (except for a recalcitrant coffeemaker), and it was located in convenient walking distance of all major tourist sites. Local restaurants that had survived the pandemic were O.K. at best, but overpriced coffee and pastries were available nearby. Last but not least, the cost was very economical. We would rebook in a second.
