A romantic short break and we absolutely loved it. Great spa especially the outside hot tubs with exceptional staff throughout. The fine dining is indeed fine and an absolute must. A very relaxing experience, included were tickets to the Lakes Distillery which was again top notch. We will indeed be returning.

Me and my wife stayed here for her birthday, originally because it was much better value than alternative spa hotels situated in the lake district itself. However, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay and will be back again. The spa was modern and had good amenities, the outdoor hot tub and thermal pool being the highlights. The booking included a two course meal in the hotel's restaurant which we had on the Sunday night. The meal started with appertifes in the conservatory before moving into the resteraunt. The food was delicious and the service very attentive and efficient. Overall we were extremely impressed with the value of staying in this great hotel just outside the lakes.

Excellent stay overnight. The garden spa is amazing, especially the outdoor hot tubs. The dinner and breakfast deal is reasonable value. No additional charge for the steak which was a pleasant surprise. Top marks! Lovely, very helpful staff at the reception, bistro, breakfast areas and spa. Would come back again definitely.

Just came back from a second stay at Appleby Manor and it was just as perfect as our first stay last year. We stayed in the Garden Suite, which is lovely. Highly recommend as it’s a 2 bedroomed suite with a kitchen, so you can make your own meals or dine in the restaurant. We dined in the 1871 restaurant, food was delicious! Along with having afternoon tea after our spa session which was also delicious. The spa is lovely to relax in. I had a facial and that was just heaven. From the moment we arrived at reception, the staff were friendly and welcoming. Throughout out the staff we lovely and took the time to chat to get to know us, nothing was too much trouble.

My husband and I visited for the garden spa experience 11-3pm Positives- Staff on reception and at the spa were lovely with excellent customer service Amelia who did our massage and facials was excellent and we enjoyed both The price is quite good value for money compared to other spas in the area Room for improvement- Lunch was very average, the anti pasti starter is- 2 stuffed peppers, 6 olives, a spoon of hummus and some stale Brest pieces The spa is very small, there is 1 sauna, 2 hot tubs, 1 steam room, 1 salt room and a small pool. There is no where to sit and chill/read a book unless you want to sit on 1 of 4 chairs right next to the pool or outside if it isn’t raining. The atmosphere was not relaxing at all, there were a lot of Loud guests, laughing and swearing. Overall summary- We would not return and would rather pay more for a spa with more facilities that are well maintained/updated with more to do

Check in: Rude unwelcoming staff on checking in with zero social skills, especially Beverly, who just stared blankly at us. Had to ask for all the basics, ie. To order a drink, a food menu, cutlery, etc. it got a little embarrassing! Later on it was a different lady (thank goodness) on reception and she was lovely and welcoming. Room: It was grim, dark and dingy. Needs a full renovation. Bed however was comfortable and room was clean. Food: Good food. Spa: Good. Staff lovely and accommodating. Would we return: no.

This was our third visit and we have always enjoyed a real treat whilst staying. We tend to go during the colder months - and I really feel the cold - but the hotel is always cosy. The staff are all friendly, welcoming and professional. If you visit, make sure you try the spa. I like to try to start my stay with the spa as a way of winding down after the journey. The food is absolutely perfect at every meal, speaking as one carnivore and one vegetarian. As a veggie, I was glad to see some decent carbs on the menu, and enjoyed the roly poly for one evening meal. I didn’t think there was much variation in scrambled egg, but my breakfast eggs were the lightest and fluffiest I’ve ever had. The rooms are always comfortable and faultlessly clean. Husband was very impressed with the wines with his dinner and I enjoyed the seasonal cocktail (fresh orange based) and thought the complementary rhubarb gin fizz was very well chosen. Keep doing what you do so well, Appleby Manor!

I booked a spa day for two. This was perfect. Very clean and tidy. Spa staff were lovely and friendly. We had a full body massage which was lovely and very much needed. Included in the offer was a two course lunch. We chose a starter and a main. Seated In the dining room with beautiful views. Service again was fantastic. The food was beautiful I will definitely be back for another spa day

Very enjoyable two night stay. Room in the Manor House was large and comfortable. Little stingy on the in room goodies - one packet of biscuits and one liqueur! TV reception pretty awful - but you’re not there to sit in the room. Nice feel to the hotel. Food was excellent both in the bistro and the restaurant. Breakfast very good too. 2 hour spa use was enjoyable - a good facility. All in all an enjoyable stay. Best to last though - the staff - all very friendly and professional. They make the place. We would happily return.
