Royal Hotel

Attended on Tuesday 27th Feb. Paid a little extra for room with a bath as like the couple ****** we are, we wanted a bath in Bath. My wife's first time ever visiting here. The hotel is a lovely setting, there is history here and all the staff have been wonderful. Close to the station, literally in front of it, and close to everything. Had the great pleasure of having many encounters with Tim, one of the reception staff and I believe concierges. Super pleasant and always helpful. We had breakfast included and after having that this morning can honestly say it's bang for your buck, with hot food to order including steak and eggs, (best steak my wife has had in the UK), a breakfast grill and a selection of others plus a typical selection of baked goods and fruits. The bar is pleasant and we enjoyed drinks last night before heading up to our room. Strawberry daiquiri we have had many times but the Amaretto sour was an interesting twist with a strong lemon zest. The only downside to the visit would be the bath/shower experience. Lukewarm bath and cold shower when we attempted it last night. This morning we got hot water for a total of ten mins to share before it went cold again. Not the worst thing all in all but a downside considering the extra pricing for a bathtub room. I was however assured that had I brought it to the desks attention I would have been assisted and I had just done the British thing of not wanting to fuss. One last perk that made an impact to me; free luggage storage. We checked out early so we could make the best of our time exploring Bath before we ride home. We were offered free luggage storage for even after we checked out so we could come back in quick before our train at 3pm and grab our bags and go, no extra charge. Fantastically useful as the Abbey tour does not allow luggage inside and we wanted to go. Anyway, thank you to Tim and all the staff at The Royal for making us feel welcomed and our time there special, we will definitely be coming back someday soon and will stay again. - Liam and Jenny Stephenson, Room 109. Fantastic Hotel - great location - perfect for the train station and wandering around Bath. Our room was clean, tidy and comfortable. Very good, tasty breakfast. All the staff were friendly and welcoming. Thanks for a lovely stay. We’ll definitely be back!

It was so inconvenient and disappointing that on our arrival day we were refused by the reception lady when we asked to leave our luggage s before checking in, for the reason that there is no space . We have no choice but paid extra money to use luggage storage services outside the hotel.

Convenient to the train station and an easy walk to everything in town. Nice food and friendly staff.

It was fine for what it was. Reception staff very good. Room warm and ok. Bed a bit small. Breakfast was good. All in all not too bad for the time and cost.

A lovely old place. They did miss part of my booking (made six weeks in advance) that the second room I booked for my grown kids needed a second bed, so my son slept on the floor. He was cool with it.

I get booking an old hotel there will be defects such as a creaky floor or dated deco! Even the sound of the pigeons outside the window. But this hotel did not meet my expectations for £110 a night! Wallpaper pealing off the wall! Old mattress, too soft and lumpy! Shower fixings not flush to the wall exposing rust! Loo took years to re fill! Not having curtain. A blind is not hotel quality! My bedroom provides a much better atmosphere! Crushed our romantic Christmas weekend away!

The staff were super accommodating. I came to Bath quite early and she allowed me to stow my backpack so I can roam the town without that burden on my back. When I checked out, she extended the offer and allowed me to store my bag again till I left town mid afternoon. The whole process was so pleasantly done! I regret staying for just one night. Oh, have I mentioned that the room was great! The bed was cozy, fluffy pillows and sheets, and heated towel rack! So comfy on a cold December morning!
