Golden Eagle

A fabulous little pub. Parking available for free from 3pm on the court car park across the road. Room was quirky and comfortable. Breakfast was outstanding with my gluten free needs fully catered for. Fully recommended and we will be staying again.

My wife and I Jackie frequent the Golden Eagle. It is both eclectic and bohemian and is the proud creation of Martin the landlord. Martin does a steak night on Tuesdays and my wife and I eat about once a month. Last week I asked Martin if he does any starters, he explained he hasn’t done but asked me what a fancied, to which I replied king prawns. On Monday night he said to us if you want to eat tomorrow he would get us some king prawns. Martin is a really nice man who looks after his guests and goes the extra mile. Last night I had griddled king prawns and scallops served with a crispy bacon garnish and lemon along with a rare sirloin with a jacket potato and salad. As usual Martin came to our table and asked us how our meal was. Needless to say it was perfect. The Golden Eagle is a hidden gem in an age of makeover artificial pubs this establishment is very special thanks to Martin and his fantastic staff.

Great old Skool pub, staff, beers and decor 10/10 my favorite pub when visiting Chester. The Sunday dinner is amazing and great value, great jukebox, also a pool table. My must try drink is Tiny Rebel, forget the posh pubs and try out the golden eagle, real pub . 👍

Stopped for 3 consecutive nights at ‘golden eagle’ in room3. The room was spacious, cozy with a very comfortable bed-the room was spotless. After a good night sleep, each morning we were presented with a hearty breakfast 😁. Each morning, we had informative chats with the landlady, as it was our first time in Chester, she helped us find some unique places to go visit. The golden eagle is a short walk from all points of interest, we parked our car at Roodee car park for a reasonable fee. Will be back next year 😁

From the start we are welcomed by smiley owner and where disappointed to leave two days later as we had felt so welcome and comfy in our surroundings, You can tell the hotel is a passion for the owner Tasty breakfast well sourced products and cooked to perfection we shall be back

The owner and staff were super welcoming and helpful. Room was cozy, well decorated and comfortable. The breakfast was fabulous, had the full English to keep us going for the day. My Mum and I loved our stay and would most definitely stay again if ever in the area, there is a lot to go back for and this pub is one of them! Thank you to Martin and the staff.

A very traditional pub with a lot of character, good beer and friendly and helpful staff. Martin was a great host, eager to help and full of local knowledge. He is keen to bring the pub back to its former glory after it was abandoned and boarded up and is a collector of interesting old artefacts. The rooms are quirky, comfortable and clean with everything you need, remembering the age of the building! The bed gave an excellent night’s sleep and the bathroom had a good shower. We opted for the continental breakfast which was very good including fresh fruit and warm croissants . We believe Martin provides an excellent full English! Conveniently situated within the city walls and with parking very close by, we would stay here again.

Lovely pub itself with great selection of beers, comfy armchairs to relax in too. The breakfast was the best we’d had in Chester (full English). Tuesday was also steak or burger night, cooked to perfection. Our room (no.1) was spotless and comfortable. Staff were friendly and really helpful. Definitely will stay here again.
