Good location only a 15 minute walk from BNS station. Single room was perfect for a solo traveller had everything you’d need, en-suite bathroom, toiletries & beverage tray. Good food served downstairs in the pub.

The room is relatively clean, very good, quiet, there is a restaurant, the breakfast in the restaurant is also affordable, I recommend everyone to stay. The ceiling of the room is also good, the trash can also have plastic bags.

Wifey and I have just come back from a 6 night stay at this hotel. Our son lives in Birmingham and should have been having his graduation ceremony which was cancelled due to the Coronavirus outbreak. We had the time off booked so decided to come up and visit anyways. The hotel had only just reopened for business and there were some restrictions in place as a result of the virus. The room was a pleasant surprise, spacious, light and airy, if a tad warm as the radiator had been turned on. The bed was comfy and the bathroom nice a clean with reasonable pressure to the shower. Could have done with a little more storage but then I don't expect too many people stay for more than a couple of nights normally. We did discover that the seal round one of the double glazed windows was not very tight so, with the room being at the front of the hotel, some traffic noise filtered through into the room. Being a light sleeper this was a bit annoying for me as the local emergency services do like to use their two tones at all hours of the night. Also the guest above us must have been wearing hobnail boots round their room as we could hear every footstep as they wandered around at 3am! Restrictions also meant that the room was not serviced every day but was cleaned and the bed changed just the once but this was not a problem for us. We had booked bed and breakfast so I was rather looking forward to my full English every day so you can imagine my disappointment when breakfast was just a grab and go bag. The kitchen and bar at the hotel remain closed for the time being so breakfast consists of a bottle of water, carton of juice, croissant, blueberry muffin (the best bit), a piece of packaged cheese, a small container of jam and a piece of fruit. This is fine and full credit to the hotel for trying their best but after the third day it was a bit dull. The staff are brilliant and even showed concern when we stopped taking all the breakfast bag, thinking that my wife was not eating properly. (We did find a little coffee shop just over the railway bridge called Marshalls where bacon and sausage was available) The hotel bar was also closed which was a shame and obviously we could not get an evening meal if we had wanted one. The hotel is right next to Acocks Green station with two trains an hour into Birmingham on the current timetable. Once things are more normal I imagine there would be maybe one more as currently there is a 40 minute gap if you miss the 43 minutes past train. The hotel itself is doing what it can to survive and they told use they have an agreement with three airlines for their staff to stay at the hotel which explains the comings and goings at al hours of the day and night. I cannot fault the staff who were all lovely and nothing was ever too much trouble. We hope to come back and stay here again and look forward to seeing how it is in more normal times. This hotel is a bit old, the power outlet is old, but the bathroom is super super, equivalent to another room, breakfast is very good, you can order. The hotel is on the edge of St. Martin's Church, the city center.

Amazing hotel with amazing staff. A special shout out to hotel receptionist Asif. He was fantastic. Very knowledgeable and a great host. Would highly recommend to anybody who is travelling to the black country to stay at this great hotel. Thank you Asif! We look forward to booking with you again!!

We made a booking in October 2021 for a stay in August 2022 for the Commonwealth Games in Birmingham - we booked via Booking.com and received no indication that anything was amiss with our booking. To our surprise, we arrived at the property 4 hours before we were due to go to the Games to find out that our room had been cancelled earlier on in 2022 and we hadn’t received any notification of this. There were several other groups in the bar area of the hotel with the same issue. The lady at the hotel advised us that this was a Booking.com issue and that the hotel had fulfilled their duties in that they’d told Booking that the rooms should be cancelled. That being said, there were others in the bar who had arrived to the same issue who had booked via other online agencies (Hotels.com etc) so, in hindsight, I find it hard to believe that several booking sites had forgotten to inform guests that their booking had been cancelled. As an outsider, it seems like it was an issue on the hotels side rather than the online agencies. Thankfully Booking reaccommodated us in an alternative property that had availability though this made what should have been an exciting day, rather stressful. Whoever the issue lay with, I’m disappointed that nobody attempted to contact us. The hotel could see our cancelled reservation on their system so it seems a shame they couldn’t make sure we knew our hotel was cancelled when it was supposedly cancelled months in advance. It also seems convenient that everybody who was impacted by this issue had booked last year when the commonwealth games dates/locations had only just been announced, so we all had booked at very reasonable rates. I looked online a couple of weeks prior to check in and noticed rooms at this hotel going for ~£200 more for the same 2 nights. Those customers who had booked more recently seemed to have no issue with their bookings being honoured. Whether the issue was on the hotels side or the various online websites people had booked with, it’s disappointing that none of us in the bar were even offered so much as a free soft drink while we were all spending a long time trying to contact those we had booked with to find alternative accommodation, there was a couple in the bar who actually missed one of the sessions they had tickets for while trying to sort the mess out. I can’t comment on the rooms in this hotel, though I was quite worried after seeing some of the recent reviews, but I can say that if you have a booking upcoming at this property, I strongly suggest you call them to make sure you actually have a booking otherwise you might have a very stressful arrival into Birmingham like we did.

The hotel is amazing We have encountered a payment issue with their hotel supplier ( hotel beds ) however Trip staff helped to solve the matter promptly .

There is so much to unpack here when it comes to Selina Birmingham. Never again am I staying at this hellhole of a hotel. For a name like Selina, the hotel sure is nightmarish to stay at. It's shameful that the hotel shares the same name with my non-biological/cosplay partner. There is no breakfast but at least, the bedding, the pillows and the duvet are comfy (but most likely due to the fact that I’m tired) and the wi-fi is decent. Unfortunately, this is where the compliments stop, especially when the dorm rooms are so dark, you have to turn on the flashlight on your phone in order to see. Not to mention, there is no television in the room I was staying in. To make matters worse, the dorm room is cold, coupled with no heating. I honestly don't mind the cold most of the time but the room temperature is too cold for my liking. Speaking of the ground floor, the Korean receptionist told me that I'm not allowed to eat my food at a table at the cafe and told me to climb the stairs all the way to the third floor in order to eat my food. It isn't fair, considering the receptionist with the short, dark hair tends to allow me to eat my food at a table at the cafe during the very early hours of the morning. I eventually lost my patience and yelled at the Korean receptionist. It's rare when I lose my patience. I threatened in a growly voice with, ”I suggest you fill the pot noodle to the top with water unless you want a scathing, negative review to be blasted on the radio for everyone to hear?”. Finally, she got the memo. The rooms, bathrooms and toilets and facilities are unsanitary (for example, there are biscuit crumbs all over the bed sheets. I didn't know until I got out of bed), the entire hotel itself is not accessibility-friendly as if the lack of a lift and the staff not being accommodating towards disabled people such as myself isn’t of any indication, the kitchen and the kitchen equipment on the third floor are dirty, there is no hot water in some of the bathrooms within the dorm rooms, the bathrooms and the dorm rooms are shared (therefore, there is no privacy), the lights keep turning themselves off if you’re idle (I’m more used to turning on and off the lights on my own accord), you need to pay £10 for a padlock which is complicated for disabled people and the list goes on. The toilets, bathrooms, kitchen etc are just as dirty as Badea Faulkner and Olive Allison Brown from the Avanzar House in Middleton, Manchester not cleaning up after themselves. And don’t get me started on the staff being problematic. They aren’t very useful to the point where I had to shout at them due to their language barriers and them not listening to me, let alone understanding me. This is troubling for autistic people like me. Never in all my years have I encountered such frustrating hotel staff members. Compared to the other hotels I've stayed at in the past, the hotel staff in these hotels were never infuriating. If a lack of staff doesn’t tell you the appalling

Fabulous hotel in the heart of Birmingham. Walk is not too far to Broad street which is where we were headed. The decor is tastefully done and the pool table on the 1st floor was greatly enjoyed for a little bit of relaxation and competitiveness. Stayed in a Penter plus room on the 7rh floor and despite the lack of bath robe and slippers which it stated on trip, the room was modern, fresh, clean and comfortable.
