Excellent hostel! Great common self-catering facilities; there were two full kitchens with plenty of tables and seating so multiple parties could be cooking at a time. Staff were very helpful and let me leave my bag before check-in and after check-out to accommodate my bus times.
The room (4-bunk female dorm) was very spacious so plenty of room for sorting through my bags. Bunk was large and included a USB plug and power outlet there. Room had large attached shower and toilet rooms.
The friendly staff save this from being a thoroughly unpleasant place to stay the night, but it's a challenge. After the Victorian hotel next door was gutted to house an expensively naff 'Nessie' visitor attraction, the accommodation remaining is a weather-beaten old 1970s annex with all the charm of a Cold War youth hostel. It's clean enough, to be fair, although the slight whiff of damp pooch endures. The boiler works too well, if anything, and the shower will provide water at Hot, Very Hot, Scalding and Aff Tae Infirmary Wi' Ye temperatures; should you want it cooler, the loch is nearby. If this doesn't entirely appeal, and Drumnadrochit's limited charms seem unlikely to detain you for a whole night, Inverness alternatives are not far away.
We spent 2 weeks in Scotland and London and the family agreed The Loch Ness Inn was our favorite hotel and our favorite breakfast. Nice rooms, fantastic food. It's about 10 minute walk a grocery and 20 minutes to 'town'. The Urquhart Castle Ruins is a pleasant walk (just under 2 miles) over a small hill and there's a beautiful park to walk through as well.
I stayed here for one night while I was cycling the great Glen way. Check in was quick, key in door and luggage had been put in a garden room for me. There is a secure bike storage at this place. There was tv, towels in the room, great outside seating area and good free WiFi. I had access to a communal kitchen in the main house which had all the facilities you could ask for as well as some home made cake left for guests. Good location directly opposite village green and on the way. Staff really helpful and willing to let me check out a little later if required. Comfy bed and good hot shower. I would recommend this place.
Our stay at the Loch Ness Lodge exceeded expectations. Upon our late afternoon arrival, we were greeted by Jaro, the Aasistant Manager. He was more than kind and welcoming. After a long drive from the Isle of Skye we were so appreciative of Jaro. He took care of everything for us, while sharing personal insights of the region, and then taking us up to get a much-needed nap in our beautiful room before dinner next door. The Lodge property is lovely. Our room was superbly clean, and quite large with an amazing view of the Loch and two chairs placed strategically nearby for contemplating the vista. We had a four-poster bed, claw foot tub and walk in shower. Everything was top shelf, from the wall coverings, to the lighting, to the linens, to the quality of the firm mattress. The Lodge is very peaceful. The public rooms are tastefully decorated and immaculately clean. You can have tea, wine, or whisky by the fire in one of two sitting rooms. Many of the guests did that every evening choosing to stay down in these cozy spaces a bit longer before retiring. This allowed us to meet people from all over the world. One opinion we all shared was that we had found heaven at Loch Ness Lodge. In the morning we were greeted by the smiling efficient Jay, Sonia and Ulla, who served a delicious breakfast with fresh fruit and pastries from the buffet to cooked to order omelets, pancakes, and eggs benedict. Everything was delicious setting us in good stead to go exploring nearby. Before I sign off, my husband and I believe the tone of this magical Lodge is due solely because of its excellent General Manager, Gabriel Pasat, who was seamlessly everywhere and who did everything from making sure we were comfortable at all times to securing for us last minute reservations at a very popular Inverness restaurant. We can’t thank Gabriel, Jaro, and the rest of the staff enough for making our stay one that we will always remember. Because while the Lodge is picture perfect, it’s the warmth of these people who bring the place to life! We will return. Susan and Patrick from Sarasota, Florida
The hotel is just off the Loch Ness. You can see the scenery of Loch Ness from the window and cross the road to the Loch Ness Cruise Terminal. It’s just that we arrived late and the cruise has closed. Although the check-in was a little problem and it took a long time, the final solution was satisfactory.
Located five minutes outside of Drumnadrochit, but the owner gave us excellent directions and we found it without a problem. You do need to drive to find somewhere to eat (and there’s very limited choice in the evenings), but the owners recommended the Loch Ness Inn which we dropped in to before arrival and the food and beer were excellent Warm friendly welcome by the lady of the house, showed us around and explained everything. Room was excellent – very spacious and all controlled by Amazon Echo (including the heating). View from our window was across Loch Meiklie and there were even binoculars in the room for a better view. Coffee / tea making facilities with an array of snacks to help ourselves to if we wanted. Bathroom was great with large walk in shower. Bed was large and very comfortable. Breakfast was continental only, but it was stunning. Wide range of pastries, cereal, fruit etc with a selection of cold meats and different cheeses – one of our favourite breakfasts of our two weeks in Scotland. The hosts Stu and his wife were first class – excellent conversation over breakfast Great value for money. Would definitely stay here again if we’re ever in this part of the country.
