It is a nice and well-maintained extended stay hotel. The location is quiet and the parking is plenty. The breakfast is nice although it could use some variety from meat Pattie’s. The elevator is slow but it is only three stories. So we walked. The nightly socials are hit and miss, depending on who is staffing. One night, only mashed potatoes were provided along with leftover salads from morning. Clearly the staff person had no interest cooking/preparing anything. Again, nightly socials are extras so I do not want to lower their rating.

We had a wonderful stay with great service and attention to detail. The reservation staff went above an beyond to make sure our needs were met. We loved the lake view and beautiful hotel amenities. I wish we would have known more about the available spa services earlier, so we could have taken advantage of them.

The location of this hotel is great. Just in downtown. There are many restaurants within three to four minutes walking distance, and it is also very close to the lake. There are several supermarkets around, and the fresh market is only four or five minutes' walk away. It is 3-5 minutes walk from the bus station.
The towels are white and the thick soft towels that Americans like to use, which is very comfortable. The sheets and pillowcases were white and clean. Lotion and shampoos are the same brand used in a five-star hotel in Shanghai.
Breakfast and coffee on the lower floor.
The bath water was super hot and comfortable.
Of course, like other foreign hotels, toothbrushes, toothpaste and slippers are not provided. This is expected so I prepared it in advance.
All the hotel staff were very friendly and would be happy to help.
Booked on Ctrip. Very convenient. Next time I go to this hotel!

I recently attended a conference held at the Madison Concourse Hotel & Governor's Club and stayed three nights at the property. Shuttle bus driver Brian picked my co-worker and me up at the airport and was so kind and friendly! His recommendations for great food and sights in Madison were spot on and much appreciated. We received a warm welcome when we arrived and enjoyed a wonderful soup/salad bar/dessert lunch at CIRC. My room was clean and spacious. I loved the walk-in shower and makeup vanity space with chair in the bathroom, which was clean and stocked with plenty of towels. My favorite part of my stay was the comfortable bed and bedding, especially those wonderful pillows! I haven't slept that well in ages. The hotel is conveniently located to the Square with plenty of restaurants and entertainment within walking distance, making it a perfect conference site. I highly recommend the Madison Concourse Hotel & Governor's Club and hope to return soon with my family for vacation!

From the Front Desk, (Sam, Jim and Grace) to the Breakfast area (Julie & Allison) the staff is always pleasant and have great attitudes. The housekeeping staff is second to none, they have your room so clean you look forward to heading there every evening. Stan G

Room very comfortable and well maintained. Quiet and private. Breakfast was OUTSTANDING, and shuttle service was such a plus and so appreciated! Great staff, Excellent Reataurant and Staff. GGuest UserThis hotel swooped in to save our evening when another nearby hotel ”lost” our reservation. We were thankful to be welcomed with a free upgrade and in time to grab a beer from the snack area. The room was basic, but very clean and extremely quiet. We had to skip the made-to-order breakfast, but were pleasantly surprised by the choices. We will definitely make this location one of our first choices when we are traveling to Madison again.

KKahleyneSo, I like to find a positive in everything. The shower had good water pressure. Other than that, this room was really terrible. The minute I walked in I almost turned around and left but there was literally no other hotel availability in the area due to some big company annual meeting going on. If I had it to do over again, I would go to the airport to sleep on the floor. It reeked like cigarette smoke. The carpet on the far side of the bed had not been vacuumed. There was a previous guest's garbage that had fallen behind the nightstand and not been removed. I could hear the guest above me walking around all night. The air conditioning unit in the ”fitness center” had been ripped of the wall and there were two old dilapidated elliptical machines that literally looked like they had been obtained by dumpster diving. Both had what appeared to be spilled sticky soda all over them. There was wallpaper border peeling off the wall, the ceiling in the bathroom had mold on it and the grout in the shower was filthy. When I left my room in the morning, I was greeted with a horrific sewage smell and found a few doors down that there was - what I presume to be toilet water - gushing out of a guest room. Gross!!!!!

GGuest UserWorst. Hotel. Ever. We were bumped from our reservation at another hotel owned by this chain. They gave us an ultra cheap rate to stay at the Microtel. We had purposely gotten a room with a king bed because I had had Rotator cuff surgery the week before and needed the room. We booked the room because we had to be at the airport at 5am and we live about 2 hrs away. At first I thought it would be fine , and I knew there was a big event in Madison that weekend. We should have gone home abs driven dish the next morning at 0- dark- thirty. Room - tiny 1 queen size bed. I guess I should have figured a much with micro in the name. Inefficient and ugly lighting I bet they never stay in a room or try to work at the desk! Air cooling- moved the air around , but set on high cool we should have been freezing- ran constantly at 80 db! Bed was uncomfortable and small Door keys stopped working right after we got in the room. This would be ok for younger people but not for us. Bit with the money we paid at $47.00.

GGuest UserThis property has proven to be a reliable stop while driving across country. I have stayed here numerous times and it is comfortable. The location is great and there are many amenities close by including a Perkins across the street. The staff is accommodating and the price is right. Most importantly they take Cats for no additional fee. As a point of information, many places will take dogs but not Cats.
