Booked as part of a special 30th wedding anniversary trip to Scotland and keen to try Red Carnation’s latest acquisition. Superb location within a short walk of the castle/old town and very close to Princes Street tram (very convenient from/to the airport and the superb Royal Yacht Britannia). What makes 100 Princes Street such a special place are the superb staff who go out of their way to exceed expectations and personalise your stay. Everyone is superb but thank you in particular to Laura, Ellie, Rory and Petra. Highly recommended for a special central Edinburgh stay.

An oasis of calm during a busy Edinburgh with festival and the tv festival. Hotel was very smoothly run by managed Laura and her team. Service was exemplary with all staff, really friendly whilst professional. Room was lovely, bed super comfy, housekeeping spot on. Food in the bar was great, wish I had time to have tried breakfast, the menu looked very appealing. At the end of a busy day the hotel felt like a secret luxury tardis you could return to, knowing you would be looked after. Best hotel I’ve stayed in Edinburgh would definitely recommend.

Wonderful boutique hotel with warm friendly staff. Everything from the rooms, food, comfortability factor, and cleanliness was top notch. The only issue we had was a broken lamp in the main bedroom which knocked out virtually all of the electricity in the room as it was on the same breaker. it was promptly fixed in the morning. The room also had a nice patio with lounge chairs which was very nice in the afternoons.

We’ve stayed at a few other Red Carnation Hotels (Hotel 41, Hotel D’Angleterre in Geneva). When we saw that the group was opening a hotel in Edinburgh, we cancelled our booking at the Gleneagles Townhouse and made a booking at 100 Prince Street. The attention to detail on the decor is simply amazing. It’s obvious the level of thought and detail that went into every single item in the hotel. The ubiquitous use of the 8 point compass as a design feature, the use of Riedel glasses for everything from cocktails to water glasses in the room, the Lefroy Brooks fixtures, the fog free mirrors, the custom tartan fabrics, the Murano crystal chandeliers, the leather and mahagony furniture, etc. It’s elegant and classy yet still so inviting. It’s really remarkable. The hotel is sandwiched between two jewelers on Princes street, and initially I wasn’t sure what to think. There are no signs, flags, anything to mark the hotel. I was also worried about the street and bus noise. While we could hear the trams / trolleys from the room it wasn’t as much of a nuisance as I thought it might be. Also the view of the castle is spectacular and the location was very convenient – 15 minute walk to the old part of town, 10 minutes to New town, very convenient to shops and restaurants. The rooms themselves are very well appointed and luxurious. The only drawback we felt is that the rooms are definitely on the smaller side. We didn’t really care our first day, but after 4 days we wished for just a bit more space. Still, they had a working desk, a large tv, big closets and heavenly bed. The bathrooms are fitted with the best fixtures, heated floors, heated towel racks, amazing toiletries. The hotel does really feel more like a club than a hotel. In its prior life it was Royal Overseas League so I’m sure there were some limitations during the design. There is really only one space for guests to relax in the hotel – Wallace Room. It’s where breakfast, lunch, dinner and drinks are available each day. It felt less like a restaurant and more like a living room (maybe a royal living room). It’s absolutely gorgeous with amazing views of Edinburgh castle. The selection at breakfast was amazing and the quality was superb. Additionally, we had dinner one night in the Wallace Room and the food was exceptional. Each day we took advantage of the extensive whisky collection and it was wonderful. This property does not operate like it’s been open a couple of months. It’s running like a well-oiled machine and every member of the staff was courteous, helpful, engaged and trying to go out of their way to provide the best service possible. You can tell when someone wants to make sure you’re comfortable, happy, need anything. It’s very obvious and as a guest it’s a huge differentiator. Some of the staff were just exemplary - Chris in Wallace Room was constantly at our beck and call. He was friendly, helpful, cheerful and just seemed like a great human being. Dario at night provided amazing s

During previous visits of festivals in Edinburgh I stayed in various Hotels big and small. This year I discovered that the Red Carnation Group added a real gem to the collection. It made the stay with my big sister at 100 Princes Street an absolute dream. The room with the view to the Castle with all the luxurious amenities. Plus great food and drink. And the most competent and friendly staff! Nothing seemed to be too much for each and everyone of them. We were pampered and spoilt. That's the place of my choice for any further visit to Edinburgh.

The hotel is absolutely gorgeous and it is eclipsed only by the incredible, bespoke service. Every person was charming, knowledgeable, friendly and seemed truly happy to be there. The food and drink are excellent, the rooms are perfectly appointed and the towels and robes are the best we've ever used (so soft and cozy!). We'll not stay anywhere else in Edinburgh.

For our week in Edinburgh to celebrate my daughter finishing her Bar Exam, I wanted to find a luxury boutique hotel like the Shinmonzen in Kyoto. I found this hotel and my daughter was absolutely delighted with our week long stay here. She adored the hotel and the staff so mission accomplished. What makes this hotel lovely is the staff. Before our arrival I got emails asking about food allergies and other requests so by the time we arrived all was anticipated. The chef Wilhelm Maree and his staff managed to create delicious breakfasts, lunches and dinners with no items that would cause me issues. He even arranged for gluten free treats to arrive to our room every night. This visit would have been worth it just for that. The Wallace Lounge faces the impressive Edinburgh Castle. It feels very much like an old Gentleman’s Club with lots of leather, brass, velvet and tartan. They have their own signature China. The staff are wonderful and attentive, especially Chris, Johanna and Pamela. They gave us advice about all kinds of things in Edinburgh. Just lovely, kind and professional people. The manager, Laura Jamieson, is a fairy godmother who can assist with any wish at all. She was kind to upgrade us to a room with a veranda as she knew I like to open windows for fresh air. Also, I asked for a quiet room. Much appreciated. Her staff are also nice. This hotel was refurbished recently. It was once a club for the Royal Overseas League. The decor tries to recreate that feeling of old money and history. Lots of brass, tartans, velvets, leather, portraits (random), old mirrors and murals on the staircase of places Scottish explorers visited. Our room had green velvet walls and green carpeting and two twin beds put together. The bed was not as comfortable as I would wish and none of the three types of pillows worked for me. I prefer organic latex pillows and mattresses. I know that makes me very high maintenance. I also would have preferred normal mirrors to the antique ones that are not much use. There was a very large lamp on the table partially blocking the tv. The chargers were welcome and the wifi worked. Connecting to the tv only worked once in a while. I am not sure if it was our device or the tv that was the issue. My daughter loved the summer dressing gown and slippers. I loved the large mineral waters they left us every day. And the daily treats. I asked for no air freshener in the room and they listened (the hall and small elevator both stunk of air freshener). The first night my pillows smelled strongly of a scented product and when I complained they immediately replaced them with unscented ones. Much appreciated. The bathroom products are all scented but I always bring my own. The bathroom was the size Americans would consider a half bathroom with a tub. The green marble was nice as was the towel warming rack. However, the child size toilet was odd. The door opened in and would hit you if you sat on the toilet. Also the toilet spat ou
