A good place to hide away from the busy Hanoi. Green scenery, quiet environment, with an old Northern Vietnam village housing style. Some room amenities need better maintenance. The restaurant in the resort is fine. But for more local authentic meals (and cheaper too), there are local restaurants 100m away from the resort entrance, where both resort guests and local area residents go. It's also recommended during your stay to pay short visits to the nearby attractions (beside the well-known Trang An or Tam Coc): Van Long wetland nature reserve (walking distance), and Chau Son holy mother monastery (18km).

Great landscape. A hide away place from city life. Staffs are super friendly. We stayed in Royal Resident room. The architech is quite special. Plus point is free bicycles We can ride bicycle to Bai Dinh Pagoda nearby

the villa and facilities are excellent, breakfast spread was also decent with an option for local vietnamese pho bo. however location is slightly further away from the main attractions like Tam Coc or Mua Caves

One of the best Hotel in Vietnam . Not beacuse of concrete and finishing , because of The Reed people .. Awesome stay . Special thanks to quen for such a fantastic international skills and communication. The breakfast spread was great . We were greeted so well with early checkin around 12 .

I have been travelling for around 6 weeks now and this is by far the best homestay that I’ve stayed in whilst being here. The rooms are extremely spacious with A/C, the pool was lovely and the location is superb. The ladies that runs this homestay needs her own paragraph because she is phenomenal, whether it’s recommending places to go or helping with any day to day issues you may have she is always on hand to help. Our bus out of Ninh Binh was a late one but she let us keep the room all day free of charge because of how hot it was. Not only this, when we left she provided us with water and snacks to take with us. She is an absolute credit to the homestay and I cannot praise this absolute gem of a place to stay enough.

We’ve booked a one-week trip with Mr Truong. It was just incredible and we highly recommend him. We’ve seen beautiful places up north where we could live local adventures away from tourist spots. He organized for us a French-speaking guide who was amazing. Truong is a very good driver, a flexible and smart person. He even found a solution for us to avoid the typhoon. We stayed three nights in his friendly home and everything was perfect (cleaned room, tasty meals and lovely atmosphere). Thank you again Mr Truong and family for making our trip unforgettable. 10/10 Detailed review from an American. Room: clean, modern, upscale. Western-style furniture. Spacious beds. Nice furniture, free toothbrushes and combs, lovely bathroom facilities. Noise level: PEACEFUL and QUIET! Relaxing, if you want to escape the city noise. It is the countryside after all. You can see water buffalo herds in the fields nearby if you take a walk outside the hotel. I can watch them from my hotel window. Staff and service: AMAZING! So friendly and helpful and honest hardworking staff. Won't cheat or scam. Use google translate if needed. Honestly the staff made our stay so good we extended the stay an extra day. Ask them for local recommendations (they don't get a kickback from any recommendations so its all genuine) Food: RECOMMENDED! Especially for travelers afraid of getting food poisoning or upset stomach from street food. Restaurant quality, home-cooked/cooked-to-order meal. Clean kitchen facility. Good prices, cheap. Made with love, the manager herself cooked a lot of the meals for us and they were delicious (for reference, im vietnamese-american so in my humble opinion, the authenticity is excellent and pleasing to a western palate as well. Personal Recommendation: Want a nice dinner thats still authentic? Order your food and eat outdoors in the cool of the evening, try the barbeque-it-yourself beef and goat. Delicious, hand-marinated quality beef cuts and goat, and they give you a little tabletop BBQ pit for you to bbq your meat just how you like it. Order some side dishes and its a great and fun family meal. If you want to and the staff aren't busy, they can bbq it for you if you want, but I think its fun to do it yourself. The location is out in the countryside but don't be alarmed because the hotel is a short drive from the main city center and tourist spots. The bad: - The beer is warm lol. They should refrigerate it. - Tip: if you ask for ”wine”, note that its vietnamese hard liquor, not the western understanding of wine (grapes). - There's a stupid rooster nearby from one of the local farms and it likes to crow all day. If you stay in the downstairs rooms you might be able to hear it, but if you stay in the upper floors you can't hear it. Would stay again.

This is the best hostel so far on my trip. The setting is outstanding the owners and staff are so friendly I actually would stay longer!!! We have been treated so well from the second we arrived. We used bikes while here it’s easy to get around. Bikes are well maintained and good enough for getting to all the local places to see. I imagine like me most people get a good if not excellent sleep here it is so quiet we came down from Hanoi and the contrast is unreal!! Everyday we are given fresh drinking water which is a nice touch. The dorms are great very comfortable Pool looked lovely it was chilly so I didn’t venture in! Other guests partying did not effect my rest at all as it’s set up allows those who want to sleep to do so away from noise. Food is better than anything I have had so far on this trip. Hot chocolate was delicious at night it’s been a bit chilly the last few days! Highly recommend Thank you guys I will be back xxx

We stayed here 5 days, to really experience the beauty and many attractions of the Trang An and Ninh Binh areas. We were so glad we did; it was a highlight of our 3 weeks in SE Asia, including a very relaxing stay at Trang An Retreat. Our host, Sam, was very warm, welcoming and helpful in arranging anything we asked for during our stay. This is a small, family-run business and all staff were kind and professional. The surrounding area is spectacularly scenic and peaceful, and the grounds are beautifully landscaped and well-maintained. As others have mentioned, accommodation is basic here - clean, comfortable and very budget-friendly. Food was quite good, if a bit limited. The spring rolls are delicious! Sam and staff speak English well, which was very helpful to us. They arranged a reliable driver for us on two of our days there. The stunning Trang An Grottoes boat trip is only 1 km away, an easy bike ride from the Retrat (they have decent bicycles available for free). I highly recommend this place for folks who want a tranquil, reasonably priced home base in the Ninh Binh area.
