Sofitel London Gatwick

Gatwick Airport Area Horley|1.41km from city center
I specifically booked a night at the Sofitel Gatwick because it included 'Meet and Greet' parking with Maple Parking. Had they not included this I would have still stayed but made other arrangments for my car. I arrived at the Maple Parking Meet and Greet and parked the car. Took my keys over to the attendant and signed in. I then asked if they could give me 20 minutes to check in to the hotel, change clothes and bring a bag back to the car. We didnt want to bring a bag of unclean clothes on holiday with us. Here's where things went downhill faster than Gwynth Paltrow on ski's. The attendant, a tall bloke with a mid-european accent shouted at me 'No, do you know you are at an airport'. He actually shouted this. Shouted. To a customer. Take a minute to breathe that in. Fortunatly I knew I was at an airport, having driven 4 hours to get there. To hear that I was at an airport was no surprise, to be shouted at by a car park attendant was. I explained that I didnt want to take a case of unclean clothes on holiday with me. His response to that was 'we are extremly busy and your car will be removed immediately'. I asked if the hotel would hold the bag and he replied 'No they will not hold your stupid bag'. Here's where I should have murdered him with his Maple Meet and Greet Staff lanyard, but I did not. I asked for my keys back to be told once again in an truely agresive manner 'if you take your keys I will close the entry and you can't come back'. I took the keys and left. I then had to park at Gatawick Long stay for an additional £150. We finally checked into the hotel, explained the situation. The checkin lady (Alessia?) apologised and gave us two tokens for a free drink at the bar. They also kept our bag for us. Is this the fault of Sofitel Gatwick? I think it is. They decided to partner with a company that treats people appalingly. So they've got to accept responsibility for that. Please share this review, If I saw something like this I would have chose another car park or another hotel. Other people should be warned.

We stayed here for 3 nights at the end Jan and beginning Feb 2020. We thought it was in a good location, easy access to local buses and well as easy flat walk to Horley village where there were good pubs, charity shops, Restaurants, banks, small shops, train station and a Waitrose. The weather was not the best when we were collected by the hotel transport from Gatwick and this made the Lodge's drive and access to the annex a bit mucky. Our room was in the bungalow annex. The room was compact as it had a double bed and a single in it. There were plenty of electric sockets and charging points. TV and radio, desk/vanity unit with mirror, plenty of spotlights, small open wardrobe, coffee and tea making. The bathroom was new with a walking shower, plenty of hot water and a hot towel rack. The only reservation I had was that the shower had a fixed head so far up I couldn't reach it and there was not a rail to slide he shower down t o my height (I mentioned this to the owners and apparently people steal the shower heads, that why they try and put them out of reach!!!) There were plenty of tea, coffee, milk as well as bathroom toiletries. Breakfast was in the main building in a large sun lounge. As weentered the cook came out and asked if we wanted a cooked breakfast, which she did withing a few minutes. We were surprised, eggs, mushrooms sausage and bacon filled the plate. There were a choice of help yourself cereals, tinned grapefruit or prunes, coffee (instant or from pods) tea, assorted sauces, jams, yoghourts and milk. Brown and white bread, a 4 slice toaster. There was also a notice concerning allergies. The hot breakfast was brilliant. I did suggest to the owner he changed the rexine table cloths as the particular pattern (a of grey wooden planks with hearts ...sort of shabby chic) did look grubby and stained, even though it wasn't. We found the internet to be good. There were smaller areass in the main building, a lounge with daily papers, a small bar. Our lift to the airport when we left was prompt. Bus stops to get into Crawley and County Oak shopping centre (where there was a huge NEXT) Buses were frequent , fast and cheap.

We've stayed a fair few times - always a warm welcome, very good breakfast, clean facilities etc. Location is ideal - approx 5 mins from LGW. There is a gem of a pub in the village ye olde 6 bells - 5 mins walk, cutting through the church yard. Book ahead for meals as it gets busy. The b&b is on a busy road and there's parking on a first come basis - never been an issue for us in that we've always managed to park. They do airport parking as well, at one point they did a shuttle to the airport - you can now book a taxi. We did parking at the airport this time as it worked out the same and just saved us any hassle on our return flight. The breakfast is 5* - perfect for setting you up for a long day off travel. The only reason this review isn't 5 stars is our room on this occassion seemed potentially overlooked - lots of windows which is great for light, but not so great with a neighbouring property and houses to the rear. and the ensuite had a separate toilet and shower room, which is fine but the toilet was so tiny it felt a bit claustrophobic. That seems really a bit mean, but I endeavour to be fully honest in any review I write. Other rooms we've stayed in would get the full 5 stars. Would I stay here again? - absolutely. We love this place - staff and owners are lovely. Location is perfect. Welcome is warm and breakfast is superb. Would I recommend it? - 100% - wouldn't stay anywhere else if this was available. Would i stay in the same room? - yes undoubtedly. It wouldn't be my first choice of room but certainly is better than many other guest houses offer & if it was the only one available I'd take it over staying anywhere else. Really great value, lovely guest house - 100% recommended. Thanks and well see you again on our next trip out of LGW.

A few weeks ago, I didn't really consider myself to be a hotel snob, before the trip I was like ”if it's got a bed, a toilet and a lock on the door then it'll do for me” well... I need to re-evaluate that statement. Firstly, the good (as mentioned in the title) the staff were nice and welcoming, the rooms were clean and it's in a fairly nice area. But... *deep breath* The rooms are hideously dated, if you had woken me up halfway through the night and said ”you've travelled back in time to the mid-80s” I probably would have believed you based on the surroundings, not that this was much of an issue, but there's more... The drain in the shower didn't... drain? So there was a huge pool of water while I was showering. It didn't overflow though because the shower head offered such little water it would have taken hours to do so. The hand soap had been watered down that many times it was just plain old water by the time I got there, same story with the shower gel. The smell in the bathroom was pretty bad and it was nothing to do with me either. The walls were that thin I could hear the person in the next room to me going to the toilet and could pick out the exact words he was having during a phone conversation. The TV didn't work. The light switch for the light above the bed didn't work. The wall had had some damage at some point and had received some patchwork which isn't an issue, but they didn't bother painting over the patches afterwards so there were huge splodges in the wall. The carpet had had some water damage at some point (probably the aforementioned shower tray issue) and there was a huge stain going into the bedroom. I'm sure there were more issues I found but I think it's best I not mention them, you get the gist I'm sure. As of right now, the price for a Premier Inn Gatwick room is £94 and the price I paid for this is £70, and in hindsight, I would have paid the extra £24 quid to have stayed there instead. I arrived on my own as a first-time solo traveller and honestly, I felt quite worried about the state of things to come based on this hotel and would have started my trip off feeling much happier if I'd paid the extra to stay in the premier inn. To summarise, if you're one of those people who thinks ”20 quid is 20 quid, all I need is a bed and a toilet I don't care about the quality” .... just pay the extra 20 quid... trust me. The staff were lovely, it was clean to be fair and it did serve its purpose, but that's the nicest thing I can say, unfortunately. Lesson learned.

We had our vow renewal reception here for the most part it was amazing the history the rooms ect but was disappointed with staff and a few other issues Francesca was amazing but some of the other staff were rude to a few of our guests, the tables was not set out like we agreed when i spoke to the manager he said he was doing it his way. To many tables left were the disco was, we had exclusive half hire which means our guest’s only should be in the manor but when some older guests went to sit round the fire to chat there was another couple there that wasn’t with us so our guests couldn’t sit round the open fire . Also oneof the rooms included was full of chairs the receptionist was good and had them moved to another room but this took a while because her paperwork said it wasn’t included but our paperwork said it was . We was told at 12 all non staying guests were to leave , and the bar would remain open for our guests staying as long as we wanted but they called last orders at 11:30 and that was it ,it stayed closed so we couldn’t even order a soft drink or packet of crisps when a few of the guests were hungry and thirsty.

They decided to partner with a company that treats people appalingly. So they've got to accept responsibility for that. Please share this review, If I saw something like this I would have chose another car park or another hotel. Other people should be warned.

I arrived very late because my flight was delayed but the host was extremely accommodating and welcoming even at 2:30am! The room was extremely clean and very close to the airport. Great breakfast in the morning and for the price I couldn’t have asked for more!

Booked via Holiday Extras for this hotel as we needed a place close to the airport to park our car and stay overnight for our earlier morning flight to Spain. Welcome on arrival first class. Everything was explained clearly and with a smile. Our request for an early morning call noted and carried out on time. Bit of a rush leaving as we tried to catch the shuttle but again staff dealt very quickly with everything and enabled us to catch the shuttle. On arrival back at the hotel after our holiday, again staff on reception very very efficient polite and informative. Room was lovely, clean and had everything we needed. We will definitely be back. A perfect stay! Thank you.

When you see the platform, wait at G9 or G3 for the bus. , 4 pounds per person, give it to the driver, must pay attention, Google search out more than 30 minutes, the map shows an airport inn transit point, there is no Gatwick English, this is actually the hotel, do not go to the full airport inn gatwick
