The hotel's public areas are beautifully and sympathetically decorated, and we enjoyed the comfort they offered. However, that was it. I have been quite picky as this is supposed to be a 5* hotel, not cheap, and so certain standards should be there, but they weren't. It was 3-4* at best. The bathroom: Shower grouting was dirty. There was no grab rail in the shower and the shower tray was slippy and had a big soft dent in the middle, that sunk every time you got in. No nail kit/cotton wool/shower cap etc., it's as if they had *****ped the room back to basics. The toilet paper was the cheapest and hardest you can find. The marble sink unit has major cracks in it and they were very sharp - you had to be careful. The toilet seat was loose and no towel by the bidet all week. The bedroom: The robe and slippers were good, but where were all the other 5* finishing touches? Everyday we had to ask for milk/cream, for the tea/coffee, but it only came once, so we couldn't drink it. Despite the hotel saying their water was not drinkable, they did not provide drinking water, a basic requirement for living! You could buy a 0.5l bottle for 5+ euro's. The food: This was a big disappointment. Despite not being made aware, none of the other hotel's restaurants were open. It was buffet or nothing. The food was consistently cold, bland and uninspiring. The same cook-to-order meat every night, no steak, no lamb, but lots of chicken legs and burgers! It was Spanish Day when we were there, but not even a whiff of Paella or other national dishes. The cold desserts weren't refrigerated, the ice cream was so hard, it had completely crystallised. For a 5* hotel, the mayo/ketchup etc was in big catering boxes, not very classy at all. The floor was so slippy, dangerously so, and we saw children fall and ladies slip. As the hotel was making you "dress" for dinner, ladies with heels were at a disadvantage as they had to totter very carefully to and from the buffet. Didn't see the point in the dress code for a buffet when the hotel was so quiet. Again, basic water with your meal was charged for. The pool area: This was a lovely relaxing environment, and the attentive pool-man, is a credit to the hotel. It was immaculate. A shame the same could not be said about the pool bar. A very quiet and extremely overpriced area, with surly bar staff. An area we chose to avoid. There is so much more I could write, such as the beautiful spa, which, even as a hotel guests you had to pay to go in! The hotel was very, very clean. However, after all this, the most disappointing part for us was that the hotel bedroom wardrobe fell off it's rollers and on top of me. To try and avoid the thousands of pounds worth of damage it would have caused if I left it to fall, so I tried to hold it. I only hurt my wrist, nothing major. However, the hotel chose to ignore it. No apology, no visit from management to check I was ok. Nothing. I complained at reception, again, no apology. Howev
