„Very convenient location, a very short walk weith covered linkway from JR station to hotel. Comfortable room with onsen facilities. Most important is the washing machine in the room. Each room also equipped with 1 microwave.”

„I stayed for 5 nights, and first of all, the price is very reasonable for a backpacker hostel. Check-in is done online: you choose your language, scan your passport, and have a f2f call with the staff via an iPad. FYI, there is a mandatory accommodation tax in Japan of 100 yen per night. You can also request a paid ”Irori” service at a nearby sister branch, where you can grill your own ingredients over a traditional Japanese sunken hearth. Just a reminder: you can get fresh ingredients from the nearby market ”Family Store Satoh” or further away at ”Surugaya Asumo.” The common area isn't huge, and the kitchen is basic but functional with tableware, an electric kettle, ovens, a microwave, and a mini fridge. The tap water is drinkable; the mixer tap can be toggled to adjust the temperature, so you won't get a chill from the ice cold water in winter! 😂 In the back, there are a toilet, three shower stalls, and communal sinks, along with a washing machine and dryer that are free to use (you just need to buy detergent from the capsule machine or bring your own) Since it's a hostel, the dorms have top and bottom bunks. The bunks are quite spacious and come with two power outlets (remember your travel adapter!), an overhead locker (bring your own padlock), a towel, and two hooks. You have to make your own bed; it's a futon-style setup where you lay the linens on the mattress. A pillow and duvet are provided. During winter, they run the AC (split system) on heat mode to keep it cozy. In the room, there’s a luggage storage area and hanging rods for clothes. On the second floor where I stayed, there are two toilets in the room: one with a urinal and another unisex one with a smart bidet/washlet. To be honest, while it's very close to the Miyagawa Morning Market, it feels a bit far from the Nohi Bus Center and JR Station. If you don't like walking or tire easily, this might be a bit of a challenge. Overall, it's a great, affordable choice for backpackers😗”

Our room was spacious and immaculate, blending modern comfort with traditional touches . The highlight was absolutely the stunning rooftop onsen with incredible mountain views; it was pure bliss after a day of exploring . The staff went above and beyond, and the included breakfast featuring local Hida beef was a delicious treat . Having a relaxing spa experience right in the hotel made our visit to Takayama truly special. We cannot wait to return!”

„We are here for their onsen (can opt for private or public) and because of its strategic location from the train station and bus station. There are alot of food options within short walking distance, around 10-15 min walk to reach miyagawa river and enjoy their morning market. The hotel provides odens and new year noodle because we spent new year during our stays. They put extra care for kids amenities with a cute slippers and handkerchief. We enjoy our stay in Takayam”

„This has to be the best hotel to stay in Takayama for new travellers who have never been to Takayama. The hotel is just opposite the train and bus station. Its unique artitecture make it impossible to miss. The hotel is old as it’s built in 1990s but it’s cozy. The onsen is comfortable and the local breakfast is definitely value for money and good to include. I also love the room with the old school buttons conventionally located. Bed is comfortable and heater works. It’s also not hard to find food and sourvenir shops as they are just below and around the neighbourhood. You can easily access fast food like McDonald or head to old town for traditional food. I will suggest you visit the 2nd street located near McDonald and the supermarket there as things are much cheaper. Overall I love my stay in Washington Takayama as a new traveller to the town.”

„We had a wonderful stay at this hotel. Its location is very convenient, just a pleasant 15-minute walk from Takayama Station, with the added bonus of a reliable hourly shuttle (be sure to check the schedule in advance). We stayed in a comfortable room in the new building. The hotel is spacious, with great amenities like ice machines on every floor and a self-service laundry in the basement near reception. A real highlight was the two onsen (hot spring baths), each with a distinct style and layout featuring both indoor and outdoor areas. They were superb. The service throughout our stay was excellent. All the staff were incredibly pleasant and helpful, providing clear explanations in English upon check-in. The hotel also boasts the largest souvenir shop. We even enjoyed a beautiful snowfall from our room on the last night. We would definitely choose to stay here again on a return visit to Takayama.”

„We stayed at Mercure Hida Takayama during our road trip in Takayama and it was a great choice. The location is very convenient — just a few minutes’ walk from JR Takayama Station and close to many restaurants. The room was clean, modern, and comfortable. After a long day of driving and sightseeing, the public bath on the top floor was perfect for relaxing. The hotel felt new and well maintained. Staff were friendly and helpful, and the overall experience was smooth and pleasant. Highly recommended for anyone visiting Takayama. Would definitely stay here again!!”

„enjoyed our stay in takayama ouan with my family! the rooms are spacious for japan standards and i like how the hotel is full tatami so we can comfortably walk around barefoot or with just socks! free socks provided and unlimited pillows. the open air bath was great and there’s sauna and cold bath too. free ramen at night was delicious, breakfast was great too. won’t hesitate to book this hotel again next time!”

„Location is good, just opposiite JR Takayama & Nohi bus centre. The hotel is pretty old, still using key to access the room. You're required to leave your key at the reception whenever you leave the room and need to collect it when you're back. No coffee provided in the room. Upon check out, the front desk (a guy) said the hotel is unable to help me keep my luggage, which is pretty bad as i need to spent extra money to find coin locker. The family mart downstairs is also under renovation during my stay, hence I need to walk to the nearest 7-11 which is about 500m away. I spent 3nights here, breakfast is almost similar every morning, should have made same variations.”
