I had a stay at this hotel from September 18 to 25. I'll try to share my experience. Hotel guests: according to my impression, at this time of year there were most elderly couples and families with young children. Room: I had a room on the 4th floor at the end of the building (balcony to the pool with water slides). I had no complaints about cleaning, the room was cleaned every day. Keep in mind that there will be water and juice in the refrigerator only on the day of arrival. Then I advise you to buy it at the supermarket - 3 minutes from the hotel. Food in a restaurant: it is here that I have to make comments. There is a lot of food both at breakfast and at dinner. But! Unfortunately, there are huge queues at the entrance to the restaurant itself. I think the problem is that there are not so many staff. There is a very friendly staff member at the entrance, but it is obvious that he cannot cope alone when there are too many people. Also sometimes you have to look for clean dishes, because there may be plates with greasy stains. Location: very convenient. There is a huge beach nearby, as well as a bus stop. You can also walk to other less crowded beaches with stunning views. Summary: I am happy with my vacation, but I think that more staff is needed even at the end of the tourist season.

I arrived at the hotel at 11.20am and wasn’t actually expecting my room to be ready that early, but to my surprise it was. The female receptionist was so kind and friendly. I explained that I was severely sight impaired and she took the time to show me where everything was. She also arranged for another staff member to help me find my room. The room was lovely. Very comfy bed, soft pillows and bathrobes and slippers. The bathroom was huge with two different shower heads and a large Jacuzzi bath. The balcony was also huge with sun beds and lounge chairs. The restaurant and staff were also very friendly and helpful, and there was lots of choice with main. Courses cooked fresh in front of you. There were two outdoor lagoon style pools, with Various water jets, in pool jacuzzi beds, two slides and a separate jacuzzi. The indoor pool was amazing and very unique in its design. There were various different types of jacuzzis, water jets, jacuzzi beds, experience showers, sauna and a steam room. It was brilliant. I also the Spa and had the ‘Queen of Egypt Ritual’ which was truly amazing. I’ve been to many spa’s, but this was a whole new level of fabulous. I would highly recommend this hotel and I will definitely be returning.

Reviews vary greatly for this property and that in part must be due to such a varied amount of accommodation available within the Hotel Gold River complex. We had previously stayed at the highest category hotel here Mansion De Lucy and was unsure how Gold River would compare, it turned out very favourably indeed. One concern we had was finding out that the fast pass options for rides were no longer granted for length of stay and instead in general it did appear there were few advantages of staying on resort however we found out that certain fast passes that include a single ride on each of the main attractions are valid for use over 2 consecutive days, it is well worth adding on the 1st row supplement which is just 5 Euro. This alongside a Seasme Adventure fast pass of 7 Euro meant it was 50 Euro each for 2 days of guaranteed rides. So for our 5 night stay we opted for this on our 2nd and 3rd day, and then our 5th and 6th final day. Ferrari Land is still included for 1 visit per stay and we also opted for the fast pass there too 23 Euro as we expected it to be busy as it was unusually open at night after PortAventura had closed. We opted for a full board package with Jet 2 and this made our spending money on resort go so far as we found the 3 course lunch that could be taken at numerous quick service restaurants was sufficient to share so we often would split our Lunches in the park up which also include a drink (bar a 1 Euro reusable cup charge) Food quality was outstanding, works out at about £16.50 for 3 course including a drink if you aren't full board so great value, think pasta bolognese to start, chicken dippers and fries for main, fresh fruit salad for dessert and a drink. I had been in touch with the hotel prior to our visit and asked to add on our fast passes along with some flowers and Cava alongside a request for a room in the main city hall, they were extremely efficient and helpful in arranging this and upon arrival everything had been taken care of, including the requested room in City Hall with the most amazing views of both parks and the sea. I would like to know how much Disney would try and extort from you for this view. The room was very clean and serviced daily with a nice deep bath, quite noisy at 10pm which seemed to be the most popular time for guests to eat but by Midnight very quiet. I did have concerns about the bookings for the restaurant as others have commented you get a 40 min time limit for breakfast and an hour for dinner for a couple this was fine but a large family may struggle. We found out on the last 2 nights that still water was complimentary at dinner. At both breakfast and dinner there was the most wonderful bread station which had a very large choice of different bread and in the morning pastries. Food was well topped up and loads kf choice for starters and desserts, a little less so for main courses and if nothing we fancied we chose from the kids options which are more fast food. Part of why we did not enjoy this holiday was not the hotel’s fault. Pineda is a town that permanently STINKS of sewage. The stench ranges from suspecting the townsfolk of having a secret egg-boiling and peeling fetish to downright medieval. It is also industrial. There is blue sea, but the entire sun-sparkling horizon is taken up with hundreds of factories and cargo ships. Very urban with hotels and apartment buildings everywhere. The sea front is lined with the cheapest and tackiest shops possible. No charm to be found anywhere unless cigarette butts and dog poo everywhere is your thing. The hotel: food on the whole ok. It turned out our booking included full board but no drinks as we had thought (except in the restaurant). The more expensive all inclusive option is not worth paying 10€/day/person for (adults and children included) as the only palatable alcohol was the lager. The wine and cocktails were undrinkable. The fruit was never ripe enough to eat so it looked like a good selection but wasn’t. Table service terrible. If you choose to eat at the outside tables, no one will ever give you cutlery or serviettes. Good luck finding spoons or bowls; when they’re gone they’re gone. You can only have a lager if someone serves you but there is not always someone to serve. Glasses often dirty. No trays so you can’t get food and a drink at the same time meaning you constantly have to get up and you will never eat with everyone in your group at the table. Breakfast coffee you have to get yourself. Fruit « juice » is coloured sugared water and disgusting. The room cards constantly stopped working so we’d go to our rooms on the 3rd floor only to have to go down to reception again to get the card fixed. At least once per day per room. The hotel carpark is an extra 15€/day. Too small for cars made after 1970 and so pretty stressful to get in and out. You must be very good at 56-point turns in the dark. Add to that the carpark card that also stops working so you have to go all the way back to reception to the unapologetic staff who shrug and watch you walk another 5 minutes back to your car to re-attempt leaving. The VIP pool area is quite nice if you ignore the fact you’re surrounded by apartment blocks, but no one bothers to clean the pool properly so everything is a bit grubby. The main pool area forbids guests to reserve pool loungers but everyone does anyway so if you get to the pool after 11:30am you won’t get a lounger until about 7pm. The Spanish and French go for lunch and long afternoon naps but leave all their belongings on the loungers and the pool staff don’t care. Our two 12 year olds liked the pool games that were organised in the mornings and afternoons. There are pool tables (2€/game) & ping pong tables but having said that, there’s loads more for kids at any camp site we’ve ever been to. The evening entertainment is either in Spanish or French and one show in particular was totally inappropriate for children, with a 50 shades

We stayed here at the end of our holiday as the apartments we were in for most of the week closed down mid October. First impressions were good, the lobby and pool area look great. There is a board with kids activities on throughout the day. The luggage storage facilities were very handy as we arrived before our room was ready and checked out with most of the day before our flight. Pool is a good size and clean, although I can see that this would get very busy in the summer. Rooms are pretty standard, they look quite dated and if the sofa bed was out, there would be no room to get past to the balcony. Toiletries are provided. Shower temperature wasn't great, it didn't heat up well at night although it was better in the morning. There is no lock on the bathroom door which isn't great when you have teenage kids. The rules in the hotel are quite off putting. Cards in the room stating rules such as no smoking on the balcony, no leaving the tap on while you brush your teeth, no using the toilet as an ashtray etc etc. We were sat on the balcony at about half 11 when all the outside lights on the balconies went off. Must have been our bedtime. One redeeming feature was the food. There was a really good selection at dinner time, and it was all very nice. They also have a free water machine which makes a nice change, but the drinks are overpriced so free water was much needed. The waiter who led us to our table was very friendly and helpful but some of the other waiting staff looked very miserable, borderline rude. Breakfast unfortunately wasn't so nice, the selection wasn't as good and the only juice options were orange and pineapple (no apple!). They do have a ”diet” section with low fat/low cholesterol items. Overall it's not a bad hotel but I expected better from a 4 star hotel. I wouldn't return only because I think there are better value hotels and apartments in Salou.

The hotel is located between Taragona and Salo, close to the main theme park of Adventure Port and Ferrari Theme Park, 5 minutes drive. Clean and beautiful environment and comfortable sleep. There are many special restaurants downstairs.

This hotel is in a great location for the centre of town but unfortunately that makes it noisy sometimes with lots of activities in local bars and restaurants well into the night. The rooms are spacious and very clean. Beds are huge and comfortable. Bathroom is great with lovely overhead shower but no bath. Reception is manned through the day until 11 at night and staff are friendly and helpful. The reception area is small and seems to have been updated from some of the photos on here. On the first floor there is a useful area with a snacks/drinks machine, microwave and ironing facilities. Rooms have a fridge and a coffee machine although the only free drinks were a bottle of water on arrival. There is plenty of storage space and a safe is provided in the room. The hotel kindly allowed us to leave our luggage both before and after checking in/out. Although the storage area wasn't locked the area was supervised so we had no security concerns. Breakfast is served over a long period in the cafe downstairs but during the last hour there is not much left and we certainly didn't see the quantities shown in the breakfast photo. It was adequate but I would not have paid to eat there if breakfast had not been included in the tarriff. Overall we were very happy with the hotel and thought it was good value for money

The Hotel is very clean and all the receptionist are incredibly nice, the rooms are a good size however there is no balconies on any of the rooms. Its located in a good spot in the centre of a Tarragona where train and bus station can take you Barcelona and Salou and they’re only 10 minutes walk away. However the only negative about this hotel that it doesn’t have a restaurant or a breakfast buffet (even though it says it’s included on trip-advisor and ***********) so we had to get breakfast elsewhere. Overall I would recommend this hotel to anyone as its a beautiful place to stay for a week.

Hotel room was spacious and clean and no traffic noise. Staff were friendly and efficient. Breakfast normal buffet and hot food. 10 minute walk to center of Reus 20 minutes to train station and also the bus station. Lovely shopping center beside hotel. Really enjoyed our stay.
