Our experience was wonderful. Very cute and spacious rooms. Renovated bathrooms. Great food. The price was excellent, friendly staff and the swimming pool was great. The location was very convenient for our trip to 1,000 island and the Boldt Castle, right off the highway and plenty of restaurants nearby. Great location.

We planned this quick stay-cation to Gananoque for the May long weekend. We booked the Jacuzzi Tub room - which was perfect! We didn’t even bother going out around the town because the pool was open and heated……Myself, my Husband and our 6yr old daughter had the pool all to ourselves for around 2 hours! The weather and water were perfect! My daughter and I went back out to the pool then next morning for an hour and a half before we checked out. The staff were beyond wonderful - so kind and helpful. The bagged breakfast in the morning had everything we needed - and it’s not easy impressing a 6yr old! LOL We are going back again this Canada Day long weekend and plan to go at least once more before the summer is out.

The location is very good, in the central area of the town, very close to the boat dock by the lake. Next to a great Italian restaurant, the environment is superb. The hotel parking lot is large and parking is free. The room was very clean. The only problem is that there is no elevator on the second floor, and the luggage is more expensive.

I've stayed in many resorts and hotels around the world, and this scenic location along the St. Lawrence River in Ontario is truly remarkable. Unfortunately, the term ”resort” is not lived up to. While I can appreciate that staffing numbers are low because of Covid, and that this is not a chain resort, there was nothing open for guests to do this October other than golf. The spa, indoor pool, gym, hot tub, games room, and outdoor rentals such as canoe, kayak, and bike rentals were unavailable. I'm unclear as to why outdoor activities were closed unless it was because of staffing. My room, which was at the back of the property did not have a water view, but the small wooded area gave it a forest feel. Having said that, there was one long deck serving 3 rooms. There were no dividers and unfortunately it hadn't been swept off or chairs set up for guests. This I suppose is minor compared to the poor maintenance of the room. I'll begin with the minor issues, such as blankets at the end of the bed that looked as if they were hurriedly half folded. There were 6 channels on the TV, which wouldn't have been a problem is something other than the bar and restaurant had been open. The room was overcrowded with 2 double beds, a large sofa, that had no support, a coffee table, plus a corner table with chairs and a long bureau upon which the television was on. The bathroom was so small that I had to fully open the bathroom door, walk directly beside the tub, pivot and then close the door to have access to the toilet. I am not a large person! I tripped getting in to the bathroom and actually cut my head open trying to navigate this. There were no chargers for phones, but they offered to bring one up. In my world, not huge issues, but add the outdated look and tiredness of the room to the lack of cleanliness and it makes for a disappointing stay. The bathroom fan, rad, and backs of the faucets had not been cleaned for awhile. The phone was so filthy, as was the sliding door handle and fridge door that my antiseptic wipes were black. Add this to a corner that had a bug trap surrounded by several dead bugs that had been there for days, and you get a room that has NOT met Covid cleaning regulations mandated by the province. All high touch surfaces should have been immaculately cleaned. I understand understaffing during these times, but if you are running a hotel/resort, there is no excuse for such filthy conditions. I ended up wiping everything down, which I typically do anyway, but I've never seen such poor cleaning standards. Now for some positive feedback. I played 9 holes of golf on a course that I hadn't played on since 2007. Smugglers was in fabulous shape and is truly a beautiful course. The staff were friendly and accommodating. The restaurant at the course had little to offer, but the server was absolutely terrific! I completed a wonderful afternoon by taking a relaxing rest at the little pub at Glenn House. The staff was amazing - super friendly and very accommodating. We booked 3 rooms which were all very clean and comfortable. The pool area was very relaxing with several picnic tables available as well. There were a lot of options to walk to for dinner. Breakfast had a really good selection and the eggs and sausages were hot. I wouldn't hesitate to stay here again and would definitely recommend it to anyone looking to stay in Ganonoque!

The room is large, very clean, and the price is very reasonable. There is coffee and chocolate milk in the reception area. There is breakfast in the morning. It is less than 10 minutes away from the city. There are two supermarkets for shopping in 3 minutes.

We had good memories of this Holiday Inn Express a few years ago but now on a recent visit we were underwhelmed. Our recent 2023 experience: 1) The elderly person who met us at the check-in counter didn't bother to stand up, stop what she was doing in order to greet us. That didn't make us feel like ”guests”. We were simply asked for our credit card and charged for our stay. 2) The general reception area was plain and uninviting (it could use some color). 3) We opted for a suite room and this is what we noticed during our stay: a) - the sit down desk is scratched up and needs to be refinished b) - dust was all over the base of the lamp and one of the bulbs kept flickering c) - the fireplace remote wouldn't work (battery?) d) - the sofa is shot, uncomfortable and should be replaced. e) - Various nicks and scrtches on the furniture. f) - the bed was comfortable g) - the TV needs to be reprogramed into english and the TSN5 feed fixed so it actually works right h) There were no restaurant guides or similar items in the drawers for ”guests” to familiarize themselves with the local fare or attractions. The overall impression we were left with is that they cheaped out on keeping their hotel up to a standard paying guests deserve and expect. Too bad. Next time we will choose differently.

I stayed at this hotel for a multi-day function with a club I am a part of. My room was not worth the nightly rate. The floors in my room were at least flooring (some have carpet) but they were dirty and extremely outdated. When I spilled some water on the bathroom floor and wiped it with a towel, the towel came back brown. My windows were dirty and most corners had cob webs in them. Clearly housekeeping is lacking or there isn't enough manpower. The bedroom TV is very small and there are no microwaves in the rooms. There is no consistency in the rooms either. Some are better than others. The coffee machine in the room is located inside the bathroom. Not all toilets are functional. My friend's room had a toilet issue and they had to plunge it themselves after calling the main office at midnight after being given a plunger. The patios outside the rooms are nice but watch the wood as it's rotting. My friends chair broke a piece and they nearly got injured. There is also a significant wasp problem on the property. The outside pool is not leveled correctly and appears to need some treatment. This place is certainly not a spa or resort. The staff will not recommend places to eat - the response we received was ”Theres a couple restaurants in town”. This listing says they have breakfast but actually their kitchen is not functioning. We were provided coffee/tea, muffins, bananas and yogurt as a continental breakfast. The dining area is also in desperate need of a face lift. The grounds themselves are nice. It's quiet and pretty. The few staff I met on the grounds were courteous. It has a lot of potential to be something more than it currently is.
