Maiensasshotel Guarda Val

We had to cancel because my husband fractured his neck and was hospitalized in Geneva. This hotel had plenty of advance notice of the cancellation but insisted on charging full price. The manager was arrogant and unreasonable. They refused to even offer a partial credit for possible future use.

We had a wonderful week at the Guarda Val. The staff is especially attentive and kind. Facilities are wonderful and clean. The rooms are decorated in Swiss style and beyond our expectations. Both restaurants offer great Swiss quality and the staff at the hotel and restaurants are very kind and professional. After a day of hiking it was wonderful to spend time in the wellness and enjoy a very good massage. Breakfast is very extensive and of high quality, fresh fruit, salmon, pancakes on demand etc.

Views of the mountains and the surrounding area was fantastic.

This place was one of the most - if not the MOST - incredible places I've stayed in the whole world. Everything was exceptional. The way it was like a little village, the staff, the room, the various amazing baths, the spa, the buffet breakfast, the coffee/cake buffet every day, the activities that were organised, the free shuttle to the slopes... just perfect.

Maiensaess was over the top I was expecting. Hotel facilities was beautiful. Restaurants especially the 6- and 3- course dinner was exquisite. Was fantastic and memorable. Service staff was very professional and friendly. Spa service was wonderful with the massage and the soak bath I enjoyed so much. We stayed for 3 nights and wish we could stay longer. There isn't enough words to describe this magical place. It's a must to visit.

Great village setting, excellent rooms, good parking facilities, great Spa and Fantastic restaurant options. Some nice touches such as coffee and cake every afternoon with a stunning panorama. However, the outstanding 5 star ingredient of the hotel is the staff. Everyone is super friendly and helpful. Breakfast is exceptional, made even better by Ursula and her colleague who personify service excellence, going above and beyond expectations to make the experience truly excellent.

The best recommendation has to be that we can't wait to go back to Guard Val. We enjoyed every minute of this quintessentially Swiss experience. You're going to be so coddled in Swiss hospitality, food and landscapes you will want to learn to yodel. The location of Guarda Val is spectacular with majestic mountains, sprawling alpine pastures and verdant valleys right at your doorstep. The views are breathtaking. We have lived in Switzerland for 12 years and visited many truly beautiful places, but Guarda Val is my favorite. The staff at Guarda Val are extremely welcoming and helpful. The food is to die for in both the "casual" restaurant and the gourmet one. It's uncomplicated, but refined and delicious. Friendly, but not intrusive. There are many walks and hikes you can take right from the hotel, or the shuttle will drive you to a location and pick you up. Everything about Guarda Val was exceptional. We took the "Time for Two" inclusive package for two nights. It was an excellent value including three spa treatments, breakfast, dinner one night in Crap Naros ("Stained Stone" in Romansch) and the other night in the Michelin Star gourmet restaurant for a six-course meal that was out of this world! The Farmer's Suite was a beautiful room with a fireplace and gorgeous views out onto the mountains. This is a place to enjoy everything you imagine about Switzerland in one place. Try the barley and dried beef soup at Crap Naros. Fondue on the terrace there is also wonderful as is their beef tartare. The gourmet restaurant has an a la carte menu in addition to the six-course "tasting" menu. We enjoyed a salmon tartare, a South African langoustine tail with Thai curry and papaya, Venison with a dandelion sauce, along with several amuses-bouches and dessert of course. It was all so delicious and not fussy! You can let your hair down and relax at this place while enjoying truly exceptional service.
