The breakfast is delicious, and upon arrival you’re welcomed with pastries, coffee, and fresh fruit. On some evenings, there are traditional singing performances at the hotel, and the team is always available on WeChat to assist with anything you might need. Truly, a place I would remember again and again!"

"A perfect weekend getaway from the bustling city. Tucked away in the mountainous countryside of Guizhou, Zhaoxing Dong Ethnic Minority Village in only three hour ride via high speed train from Guangzhou. The village is quite developed, offering shuttle service to and from the railway station for 10RMB each way. You can also arrange a private ride for 50RMB into the village. The village entrance fee allows 6 days of access into the village for 80RMB. I chose to stay at the Comfort Zhaoxing Inn next to the canola fields, away from the main attractions for a quieter stay. I can see swallows swooping, bugs chirping, and frogs croaking in the fields. My room has floor to ceiling windows offering great views of the mountains, fields, and rice terraces. Remote villages in the mountains are also visible. The inn is ran by a friendly couple. They offer sumptuous breakfast with generous portions. They picked up and assisted with my luggage at the village shuttle station. The village itself is for pedestrian only. They offer complimentary shuttle services every 15-20 minutes that makes various stops if you don’t feel like walking. It was relaxing to stroll along the river and around the village. Instead of taking a shuttle (20RMB round trip) to the rice terraces of TangAn Village, I took the trail that the locals used for centuries before shuttles were available. The trail was paved, crossing creeks, winding through the mountains and rice fields for 7.5km with an elevation gain of about 1,000 meters. The views were spectacular and the food were amazingly delicious and very affordable. I used Zhaoxing Village as a hub for accessing other remote villages. Shuttle buses offering two departures to Huanggang, Basha ethic villages (about an hour ride). Though if there is not enough passengers, they may cancel the service. My stay was memorable, and I plan to go back when the canola flowers are blooming."

"Kochałem to miejsce tak bardzo, że zostałem 5 nocy. Yang właściciel mówi doskonały angielski. Zadzwoniłem wczoraj i czekał na stacji kolejowej z moim imieniem na znak. Pomógł mi zorganizować opłatę wejściową. Mój był wolny, gdyż mam 73 lata, choć jestem obcy. Podróżuję sam z Nowej Zelandii. Stacja kolejowa odbierała się za darmo i bardzo przydatna. Jeśli weźmiesz autobus, to jest długa droga od biura biletowego i przystanku autobusowego do wioski. Yang potem przeniósł mnie do swojego małego samochodu, aby iść na mały pasek do hotelu. Hotel jest 5 minut spacerem do wioski i ma świetny widok na wioski.. Jest cicho, ponieważ jest trochę od centrum zajętego. Pokój był idealny. Wszystko jest nowe i bardzo czyste. I nie ma zapachów. Łóżko było bardzo wygodne z dobrej jakości pościel. Użyłem pralka w pokoju do mycia ubrań. Była dostarczona herbata i kawa. Yang zabrał mnie na pełną podróż do zobaczenia innych miejscowych wsi, które nie mają turystów. Podróżowaliśmy razem po wsiach. Było fantastycznie mieć angielskiego przewodnika, aby wszystko wyjaśnić. Widzieliśmy ludzi produkujących wino ryżowe, malowanie indygo, budowanie domu z tradycyjnymi technikami. Widzieliśmy walkę bufy. Yang rozmawiał z ludźmi i wyjaśnił, co robią. To był najlepszy czas, jaki miałem w Chinach. Był dobrym ostrożnym kierowcą. Śniadanie było ogromne! Wiele dań, w tym owoców. Yang zawsze był dostępny, aby pomóc mi z każdym pytaniem i mieliśmy dobre rozmowy co rano, kiedy pomógł mi planować moje działania."

Zatrzymaliśmy się na drugim piętrze (zarezerwowaliśmy pokój późno, a właściciel przydzielił nam pokoje według kolejności rezerwacji, od najwyższego do najniższego).
