We haven’t stayed in a YH in a city before and were a little wary. Our Airbnb cancelled at the last minute and as it was a BST festival weekend and Pride weekend we couldn’t find anything for under £1000 for two nights. Until I thought, why not, let’s try a YH. I’m so pleased we did. Other visitors varied in ages, abilities, ethnicity but all were friendly. The staff we so helpful and friendly. I had called in advance of booking as we have 3 children (family of 5) and wanted to be sure our youngest could bring a roll mat and sleeping bag as other YHAs permit. The reception confirmed it was fine - woohoo! We had an en-suite family room for 4 on the 5th floor and it was squeaky clean. The lift was out of order so it was a little knackering going up and down 5 flights but manageable for us. We stored our bags in the lockable basement room on the first and last day which was a bonus. We hired towels for £2 which lightened our luggage. The breakfast was fine, a bit of carb overload but that worked for us. There is soya milk if you ask and the flora spread is vegan. Could have done with oat milk or a dairy free milk which can be used in tea or coffee without it curdling but to be fair we didn’t ask and just opted for black coffee. We’d definitely stay here again and would recommend to anyone visiting London. Very close to a Sainsbury’s local (under 5 mins) and 8 mins from Great Portland St Tube. 25 mins walk from Kings Cross.
