Ripped off by the hotel as we had to move our original booking by three weeks from April to May. This added £124 for two of us ontop of the £235 already paid with original booking. There was no justification for this and a reason to use a Premier Inn is the expectation of fairness and consistency. Not here. They also charge £10 per person for early check in but this seemed to me to just be a money making scam. The two of us arrived at 1.30pm and asked about early check in but were initially told no rooms ready. We had had a long journey and were tired. We asked about waiting in the restaurant and availability of food and were told none. Then the receptionist then contacted someone on their walky talky and first one room might be available and then two were, for a charge. Having booked in I then had to wait in reception whilst my family member freshened up. In this time eight tourists came into reception who had pre booked, and asked about early checkin. I observed the same routine from the receptionist- first no rooms ready, then a few, then miraculously eight, for a charge. This seemed far from company practice and more like a local scam! The overall impression of the hotel is that it is tired and in need of a fresh make over. Bedding wad clean and the breakfast was good, but pricy. You expect consistency from this chain, that you can rely on, but thisnhotel falls far short. Better places to stay.
