I arrived early and was given a tag for my luggage as I was leaving there until later in the day. The check in counter is 24hrs a day making it nice. My room was at the Lodge and on the 3rd floor. Yes, like many places you will find in London, there are a lot of steps. Its just something you need to be aware that this is how many hotels are as there just isn't room for elevators. So just know this is common. The room I had was a double bunk bed which I guess I didn't notice when booking. It was fine, but for me, I'd rather just have the single bed as I would hit my head on the bunk bed. However having the extra blanket and pillow helped. Room is very basic, but it did have reridgerator which was one of my main things so that was good to have. Bathroom was also very basic and only had an unlocked shower gel which I assume was both a body wash and shampoo in the shower. There was a key for it and it was left, so that anyone could put anything they wanted in the dispenser which isn't really a good idea and should have been locked and the key taken by housekeeping. 2 towels and nothing more. The water is tempermental and can be very hot or cold, so it will take a bit to get the right temperature. The shower also drains very slowly. Each bunk had a light and outlet for phone charging at them. The room is very small, there were holes in the wall as well and in my room a plastic cover was falling off which let to some unwanted guests that were promptly taken care of by the night staff and then premenently fixed the next day and I had no more instances of any unwanted pests. There were a number of kids that were staying there as I would be woken up in the early morning by kids running all in the hall and on the stairs and being very loud, however, I never bothered to complain about it. But just note there could be families that have young kids and the rooms are not sound proof at all. I only went to the breakfast once, and it was fine. I just grabbed what I saw, and didn't pay attention if you had other options to get food. It wasn't something I would pay extra for, but it was included with my room. The staff was excellent and very helpful and friendly and as mentioned, it is staffed 24 hours which was good when I had my little visitors the one night and they were able to quickly come up and do some temporary fixes until the manager was able to address and fix the issue the next morning at least. Again, it's very basic, but the location is really good. Just note though that the night tubes do not go through Paddington at all and the closest one for the late night weekends would be a walk from the Central Line at Lancaster Gate, but other than that, it's very great with the underground/rail/buses etc that service the area. I stayed a week, for me it was fine, 2 people it might be too cramped though. Again very basic at typcial London prices which means you get a lot less for paying a lot more, but agai
