The low rating reflects the restaurant and food experience. If you are looking for a typical Tyrolese style hotel/restaurant with good quality food, this is not the hotel to choose . We went with Ingham’s who only show the upper level of the restaurant in their pictures, which is not the main area which is very open plan and feels too much like a canteen. Interestingly the hotel show no pictures. The overall image is of luxury, but this is very much the spa/wellness area only. The food is advertised as four course. One course is soup, there is one other first course then a choice of one vegetarian or two non vegetarian mains. The main has to be decided the day before. With over 200 places in the restaurant the food is precooked so when you sit to eat, the courses come fast. Our experience was that both fish and meat were over cooked as they must have been cooked and left on hot plates. After two days of complaining we were given a refund of €10 per meal per person, which reflects what you get for your money!

Stayed at the Strass while attending the Altitude comedy festival. Outstanding festival, highly recommend if you’ve never been. The Strass has spa, sauna, swimming pool, good restaurant, great team working too. From reception to the bar and everything in between. Absolutely amazing stay, thank you.

Fantastic place! Lovely staff, very close to the mountains and a very hospitable host who had great knowledge of the local area. Perfect for walking into town and for local transport links. I’ll be back next year!

We had a fantastic time at the strass hotel. It has the most amazing spa. It’s worth coming just to experience it. We went to go to the Altitude comedy festival. We have seen so many world famous comedians and discovered new fantastic comedians over the years. There is nothing better than a day of skiing and an evening of laughter. Or just go the strass have a spa holiday and laughter.

Lucky enough to stay at Sporthotel Strass once again, this time for the Altitude Comedy Festival. The hotel was up to its usual standard - very clean, fabulous location and wonderful rooms and restaurant. We were on half board and the food was top notch. I stayed once again in a single room (too old to share these days!) and the layout of these rooms with full Mountain View balconies is just exceptional. Lastly it’s well worth taking an afternoon off from the skiing to spend time at the Wellness Centre - so luxurious and peaceful. I’ll be back at the Sporthotel Strass soon - maybe trying a summer break with some E Bike safari action!

It's always a great quality experience when I return to this excellent, value for money hotel! They consistently provide superb service throughout the hotel, and across the restaurants, Wellness Spa, gym, suanas, pool, and all of their many facilities. This year I came to the excellent Altitude Comedy Festival, but I've been enjoying my stays in this family run hotel for quite a few decades, long may that continue, I will be back!

By far one of the best hotels in Mayrhofen. And it hosts the Altitude Comedy Festival as well so that’s a brucie. Great rooms, staff and facilities right next to the Penken lift and Hans the Butcher. Breakfast is a great selection, pools and saunas are fantastic and very clean. The comedy at the festival is the finest in Europe. Best. Week. Ever.

Enjoyed a week-long stay during Altitude Comedy Festival! This hotel exceeded expectations with spacious rooms and a breakfast spread that impressed. The Pool and Spa were the perfect remedy after a day of skiing, setting the stage for an evening of laughter. The staff are always happy to help and the location couldn’t be more central. Already looking forward to booking again next year! Thanks Strass & Staff!

My third time at Sporthotel Strass and it is always a fantastic experience. Friendly and professional staff who remember us and welcome us back year after year. Facilities are excellent, spa and wellness area is relaxing and has everything you need. The hotel is in a superb location, right in the centre of Mayrhofen!
