I was in MInneapolis for a conference across the street from the hotel at the Convention Center. The proximity to the the Convention Center was the hotel’s only saving grace. The hotel was unprepared to be a convention hotel. There was one frazzled young lady staffing the front desk, answering the phones, and checking people in all at the same. This caused her to be short and downright rude to many of the guests checking in. My travel companion and I were at the hotel for 4 days and not once was the room cleaned. We had to go down to the front desk and request new towels and toilet paper because we were running out. The toilet paper hadn’t been replenished from the previous visit - which made me question if the room had even been cleaned before our arrival. On day 2 I asked that our room be cleaned and the front desk person submitted the request, but it never happened. I understand staff shortages etc, but as a convention hotel there has to be a contingency plan in place to manage the influx of guests, especially for what they were charging for a room per night. Also, no slight on the city of Minneapolis, but after 6pm everything shuts down…even the Target…and it turns into a ghost town full of homeless people. We were told multiple times by Uber drivers not to walk downtown after dark. So we actually Ubered the 4-6 blocks between hotels if we were out after dark. I would not stay at this hotel again.

My son and I stayed here for 6 nights 7/2-7/8 for a national fencing tournament at the convention center. Agatha at the front desk was stellar. She was welcoming and could not have been more helpful. Also, Adam in the Living Room bar (lobby bar) was very good too. He knew my drink, remembered my name and was good with conversation. All the staff we met were really friendly and helpful. W does a great job with interior design and this hotel is the perfect mix of original Art Deco design and modern interior. Common areas are sleek, and lighting is interesting. I did not like the lack of good lighting in the elevator, as I always had to use my phone to light up the floor numbers. We stayed on the 16th floor in a 2-queen room. The room was very clean, small, and there is minimal storage, Beds and linens are comfortable. If you are staying for more than a couple days and want to unpack, there is only a small, 2 drawer unit that does not hold much. The bathroom is large and well appointed, and the bath products smell amazing. My issue is the rain shower mounted overhead, rather than a wall mounted shower head. As a woman who does not wash her hair every day, I struggled to keep my hair dry and had to do the in and out dance as the water fell from above. My son did not like it either. This type of shower is not as satisfying as a wall mounted shower head that blasts you. I also wish that the room had a regular coffee maker rather than an espresso machine. with tiny cups. There is free coffee in the lobby, but who wants to go down 16 floors for a cup of coffee, and have to return to your room? There is a diner called Keys, attached to the hotel that is really good for breakfast and lunch. The observation deck at the top of the building is great too. I had drinks with friends in the lobby bar, the Living Room, and we all enjoyed the cool, comfortable space and good service. Interestingly enough, we got to watch a pimp with 2 ladies of the evening do business with a man sitting at the bar. This very intoxicated, elderly man left arm in arm with 2 young, scantily clad 'ladies'. No one who worked there seemed at all concerned, or for that matter surprised. Overall, I liked this hotel, I liked the staff, but the room fell a little short for me on size, functionality and that silly rain shower.

This is one of the places that still have a pool available and I like to bring my kids on the weekend to swim and have a family time vacation

The room and the hotel interior generally had modern décor and everything was in good condition and clean. In my room there was a surprisingly large mini-fridge, a large TV, and a very small microwave. The internet connection was fast. The staff was friendly and the breakfast was okay. There was a bit of traffic noise, but that’s to be expected given the location. Walking around in the daytime, the neighborhood seemed very safe. Overall, a good place to stay in downtown Minneapolis. Hotel parking is not well marked (it’s immediately west of the building on 11th St.) and it’s $20/night in addition to the room rate.

My daughter got married in Minneapolis on 5/28/22 and we used Hotel,Ivy as the host hotel. We had some guests back out from reservations at the last moment and fell short of our block requirement. They kindly forgave the shortfall, anyway. The hotel is beautiful and elegant. We had booked a suite the level below the penthouse for the bridal party to get ready and the next lower tier suite for the groomsmen. The bridal suite, through no fault of the hotel, smelled of a particular flavor of smoke, and after an attempt to clean it, still wasn’t immediately acceptable. One of the managers, Ziena, worked hard to try to make it right. Ultimately, she gave my daughter the penthouse. Additionally, my hard of hearing elderly father locked my son out of the room they were sharing with the deadbolt, thereby preventing staff from being able to open it. He could not hear banging on the door. Again, the Hotel Ivy staff came through, supplying my son with a room for the night without charge. It was so refreshing to see a business look out for guests. That is the way one gets loyal customers and count us as such! Thank you, Hotel Ivy and Ziena! Monellos was fabulous for dinner, as well. Scott Westenberg

Very spacious and modern rooms, very cool design of public areas and rooms! Unfortunately, we had some difficulties communication with the hotel twice. First, we wanted to learn more about parking and hotel put us on 10 minutes hold and after that they did not pick up the call for more than an hour! Maybe they are busy, but still leaves an impression. Secondly, we called at the reception to ask about the places open for a beer or wine and they simply hang up on us twice. Moreover, there was something with the lock- we could not leave the room without asking for help outside. I’m glad we were not in the rush in the morning. Not sure why is that so haha! Generally great area in the city center and pretty design!
