Location: It’s tucked in a narrow alley in the heart of the ancient mansion district, yet somehow still car-accessible at the entrance. You can walk to the main attractions in minutes, and snack runs couldn’t be easier. The property was a 2024 CCTV Spring Festival Gala focal point, which means you’re positioned for both the postcard sights and the everyday street life that makes Chaozhou compelling. The Space: The owners have clearly wrestled with the dampness that plagues traditional buildings and won. Each room comes equipped with a dehumidifier, air purifier, and—most tellingly—a tea-roasting machine, which speaks volumes about how seriously they take guest comfort. You’re not roughing it; you’re staying in a heritage shell with climate-controlled, modern interiors. The Host Delivers: Within minutes of our arrival, we were served Fenghuang’s “Duck Dung Fragrance” dancong tea while the owner explained how to brew it properly and distinguish between Phoenix tea cultivars. That session came with a concise history of the ancient mansion’s architecture and spot-on recommendations for local delicacies and lesser-known sights. This isn’t performative hospitality—it’s practical knowledge sharing by a respected local expert. How to Make the Most of It: Embrace the tea culture. The in-room tea setup and host’s guidance transform a simple amenity into a genuine cultural immersion. Trust the gear. Run the dehumidifier and air purifier without hesitation—they’re there because they work. Ask about the alleyway. The owner can explain the unique access arrangement so you’re not confused on arrival. Bottom Line: For travelers who want to experience Chaozhou’s historic architecture without sacrificing comfort—and who value a host that educates rather than just accommodates—this is the rare property that earns a repeat visit.

Our second visit within a year! Gorgeous refurbished old mansion with close proximity to everything. We stayed in the courtyard suite both times and love the extra space in the courtyard to relax in. The rooms have everything you need, the bathrooms are great and they give huge bottles of water which is much appreciated. Everything is managed via WeChat - arrival times, housekeeping, check out times etc - and they sent a ton of information about local attractions and places to eat. Love the old alleyways we have to walk through to get to the inn from the main road and Pai Fang Street. Just be aware that you’ll need to be dropped off on the main road with your luggage and it’s a short 5 min walk through the alleyways to the inn - it’s an easy walk and flat, so no issues with wheeling your luggage. They made sure to tell us that before our first trip. We will be back!

Location is strategically opposite the West Lake. There are restaurants and diners nearby. Paifang Street are also within walking distance, if you are willing. Otherwise, its a few minutes away by car. The hotel provides tea in the waiting area. Not the casual kind but actual good herbal tea. Very fragrant and heartwarming. The hotel apparently provides free laundry services, which we did not utilize, but this is a bonus for many travelers. The amenities are of good quality, and the hot water is always hot. Frequent travelers would know some hotels do not guarantee that, especially if you prefer to take long showers. This, for us, is also a good thing. The hotpot restaurant downstairs underwent some minor renovations (apparently, they were putting up a new signage). There were drills and knocks, which sounded like they were coming from upstairs. We called the reception and they quickly went to check. They kept us updated and assured us that the drilling would end soon, which it did. This is highly applauded and much appreciated as we have experienced other hotel reception brushing us off with excuses without providing a solution or follow ups. One of our favorite things about this hotel is that they place bottled water near the elevator for guests to take. This means when we run out of water in the room, all we have to do is go out and take some. We don't have to call and wait or feel bad about troubling the housekeepers for something so trivial. More hotels should do this. Especially the ones near or in tourists attractions. Overall, this hotel lives up to expectations, is comfortable to live in, and we will come back the next time we visit Chaozhou. All staff deserve a praise for their excellence!

During my recent stay at the Homeinn Plus Chauzhou Hotel, I encountered a rather mixed experience that I feel compelled to share. Upon entering my room, I was immediately struck by an unpleasant odor that lingered in the air, making it difficult to relax. The smell seemed to be a combination of stale air and something musty, which certainly put a damper on my first impression of the hotel. Despite the initial setback, I found the hotel staff to be exceptionally helpful and accommodating. After expressing my concerns at the front desk, the receptionist was quick to apologize and offered to reallocate me to a different room. I appreciated their responsiveness and willingness to rectify the situation, which significantly improved my experience. The new room was a breath of fresh air—literally. It was clean, well-maintained, and free of any unpleasant odors. I was grateful for the staff's prompt action, which allowed me to enjoy the rest of my stay without any lingering discomfort. The amenities in the new room were satisfactory, with comfortable bedding and a nice view of the surrounding area. While my initial room left much to be desired, the positive attitude and efficiency of the hotel staff made a significant difference. Their commitment to customer satisfaction transformed a potentially negative experience into a more pleasant one. In conclusion, while I cannot overlook the issue of the stinky room, the helpfulness of the staff in reallocating me to a better accommodation certainly deserves recognition. I would consider returning to the Sunshine Hotel in the future, but I hope they can address the odor issue in their rooms to enhance guest satisfaction overall.

Lots of shops and eateries nearby. It’s at the fringe of tourist attractions so quite convenient to navigate around. very clean room with lots of space for luggage. Only gripe is the window js facing the stairways of front building which is old n dingy. At 3am was woken up by cats fighting just outside my window at 2nd floor.

The room is spacious and the hotel’s location is excellent—most tourist spots and nice restaurants are just a few minutes’ walk away. We also received a complimentary upgrade to a family room with a balcony, which was a pleasant surprise. However, the reception is located on level 4, and one concern is that the public can access the lift to all guest floors, which may pose a safety issue. Additionally, the laundry area is semi-open and only has a dim light, which makes it feel a bit dark.

Exceptional Stay – Truly Felt at Home From the moment I arrived, I was impressed by the warm and professional welcome from the front desk team. Specially thanks to Miss 樱桃. Every staff member I encountered – from reception to housekeeping – went above and beyond to ensure my stay was comfortable and enjoyable. Their friendliness, efficiency, and genuine hospitality really made me feel valued as a guest. They even help me to follow up with my taobao delivery of parcels. Well down for all staff. The hotel’s room & lobby cleanliness is well-maintained. My room felt fresh, tidy, and inviting, with thoughtful touches that showed the care and attention put into daily upkeep. The housekeeping team did an amazing job, and I truly appreciated their promptness and consistency throughout my stay. The location is also a major highlight – conveniently situated near key attractions located inside Chaozhou oldtown, dining options, yet peaceful enough for a restful night’s sleep. It made exploring the area effortless, and I could easily return to the hotel for a quick rest before heading out again. Take note this hotel is located inside the old town, may need to walk to main road for didi. The amenities exceeded my expectations. The facilities were modern, well-equipped, and thoughtfully designed to cater to both leisure and big group of families. From the relaxing lounge areas to the private villa facilities with massage chair and in-room conveniences, everything was in place to make my stay both enjoyable and productive. Overall, my experience here was nothing short of excellent. It’s rare to find a place that delivers consistently on all fronts – cleanliness, service, location, and amenities – but this hotel truly does. A heartfelt thank you to the entire team for their dedication and kindness. I would not hesitate to recommend this hotel to anyone visiting the area, and I look forward to returning in the future.

We were tossing between selecting Fortune  Hotel and another one closer to the centre of city . We were glad that we made the right choice in Fortune hotel for our two days holidays in ChaoZhou .  The hotel was very modern and new . The place was spotless clean and lobby reception was staffed by two very courteous young ladies . Our check in was swift and we were upgraded to a room on the sixth floor.  The bedroom was spacious and clean . There were coffee and Chinese tea making facilities. In the mini fridge, we were told the three cans of soft drinks were complimentary. The toilet was very hi tech stuff with automated water splashes and the seat was heated . Now you do not find these kind of toilet facilities in China .  Breakfast has a great variety and selection of food , ranging from soup noodle with meat balls , fried vermicelli , vegetables, fried shrimps, fried chicken nuggets , century egg lean pork porridge , fresh fruits etc.   With this selection of foods for breakfast, you would not be in an hurry to have lunch . The hotel is a bit away from the pedestrian mall in PaiFang Jie , ChaoZhou old town , about 15 minutes drive costing 11 RMB . But the cleanliness of the room and large variety of food for buffet breakfast compensate for the slight inconvenience of location. If you are coming in to ChaoShan HSR station , please take the public bus with number K2 for 9 RMB and the trip would take you to the entrance ( South Gate) of PaiFang Jie instead of paying 58 RMB for a DiDi ride . After you have walked the pedestrian mall and seen the GuangJi bridge , then you take a private car ride to the Fortune hotel for 11 RMB .  We would not hesitate to recommend to Trip members to stay at Fortune hotel and the decision is based on its spacious room cleanliness, delicious breakfast and friendly courteous lobby staff .

The host was really friendly and helpful. She saw that we were going to stay there for 4 nights and took the initiative to upgrade us to a larger room with one more extra bed and closer to the laundry facility. That was a pleasant surprise when we checked in. Straight after checking in, she made some Chinese tea where we sat and she briefed us on the places to visit. Gave us her WeChat which we can contact her anytime if we needed any help. Everything was great and the kids loved it so much. They have electric bikes where you can rent and it was awesome. We rented the bikes and rode all over the old quarters (highly recommended). I did not check the price of others but my wife told me the rates that they charge are cheaper than the E-bike rental shop at Xima Road. They sold Chinese tea as well which turned out to be pretty competitive as far as pricing is concerned. You'd pay alot more if you purchased tea at the pedestrian shopping strip (Ancient City) nearby. Location was fantastic! Near to the entrance of Xima Road where you could either turn left and walk towards the Ancient city or right where you can walk to Xinqiao Road (many boutique shops there). There are a tonne of food stalls and restaurants there all within short walking distance and a 24hr minimart nearby. Note that this is a homestay where everything is more relaxed and informal so don't expect hotel type of house keeping. Amenities and mineral water are placed at the foyer and you can grab as much as you need. They use disposable towels which may take getting used to if you haven't used one but the up side is that hygiene is guaranteed, and I'm happy with that. Overall, it was a great experience staying there and we will certainly stay there again on our next trip.
