This place is a dump don't be fooled by the photos. My son and I booked the room on-line based on the photos. We even booked an additional night before our 3 day reservation started since we arrived in Playa del Carmen early. Upon arriving at the Hotel we found out they don't have an elevator - you don't see that mentioned anywhere on their website. Our room was on the third floor. We had to go up a very narrow metal spiral staircase that we actually had to crawl up the last level because of the low clearance at the top. Imagine carrying your suit cases up and having to navigate the narrow low steps -very dangerous. Once getting into the Jr. 2 bedroom suite we find out the second bedroom was an open loft that we had to climb a ladder to get to. Once in the loft the railing was not stable. If you have young children you would be terrified. We arrived in the evening so we got settled and went out to eat. We got back late and it was dark. We had to navigate the low poorly lit spiral staircase to get to our room. I ended up hitting my head on the bottom of one of the steps and suffered what the pharmacist told me was a slight concussion I also injured my leg because I stumbled when I hit my head. I got in my room and called the front desk it was closed so I had to send a message to a what's ap number. I did not hear back from anyone until late the next morning. I had a horrible headache and an injured leg so we decided to check out of the room. I am 55 years old and did not want to risk the spiral staircase for three more days. I had to wait around to meet with the manager when she came in. She told me they did not have another 2 bedroom room on a lower level so we told her we would be checking out and she agreed they would credit us for the 3 night reservation that we would not be using. Very important to know I am not trying to get refunded for the additional night that we came in early and stayed - this is when the accident happened. It is now February and I am still fighting with the Hotel to get my credit card refunded. Don't be fooled by the photos they show of the beach either. You can't lay on the beach or enter the water at the hotel because all of the small charter boats dock in front of the beach area. It has a horrible gasoline smell and not a spot where you would swim or let your children swim. I didn't want to write this review but they left me no choice because they continue to contest refunding my money. I am not asking for a refund for the night I stayed in the hotel. I am only asking to be refunded for the 3 nights I paid for and did not stay due to the unsafe conditions and being injured. tony

Hotel Colibri is a great escape from the whole madness of Playa Del Carmen 5th Avenue. It is its own space where you can easily disconnect from all that is going around. When you enter the hotel you will directly be experiencing the little jungle haven they’ve created. This was so important for us and helped us enjoy our stay! They also bring in some live bands and DJs which keeps things fun in the hotel if you don’t feel like going out. Additionally, as a guest of the hotel you get an exclusive 10% discount on all drinks and food! This was so worth it because they definitely have savory food and delicious drinks! This is a great gesture from the hotel, and I wish more hotels did this, because this shows the appreciation of their customers. We also had a great experience with the staff. For example, Carina helped us book a last minute experience and she consistently kept checking up with the tour operator and keeping us in the loop if it would work out or not. She also kept checking up if the tour operator did meet us and if we got to get on the experience given the last minute rush. She was very thoughtful and supportive through it all. Additionally, we had one of the waiters (unfortunately can’t remember his name — brown hair with a well groomed beard) he helped us get a last minute lunch box since we had an early tour. We weren’t informed that we should let the reception know one day beforehand to prepare it, but he made an exception and had the kitchen make it for us so we don’t go without a breakfast. We also need to call out Alma that made checking out very easy, and she also gave us written recommendations of activities to do for our next stay at Valladolid! We really appreciated it. The only downside of the hotel is the noise. We were staying in the cottage houses and we were very impacted with the surrounding loud music and clubs. I truly wonder if the hotel can do anything more about it. This didn’t bother us much because we already got really tired and just enjoyed Netflix playing in the room to cover the sound of the clubs and falling asleep, but we can understand other light sleepers that might not enjoy this very much. Overall, our stay at Colibri was amazing and we loved the supportive and welcoming staff. We had stayed two other places in Mexico before coming here to this hotel, and we haven’t seen the same kindness and help of the staff! Thank you for the great stay!

As the Banyan Tree service did not have to say, that is, the charges are expensive, even the expensive is not good for hygiene, the pool villas, the small collapse in the yard can not lie, placed in the corner of the eaves do not say mosquitoes There are many ant bugs and a lot of spider webs. It looks dirty. The colony is also covered with insect secretions and spider webs. The partitions in the room are all gray, which makes people feel uncomfortable. And if it is too far to go to the beach, it is not convenient. It can only be said that this Banyan Tree is relatively backward, not as good as the nearby Viseroy.

Stayed 3 nights. It is about 10-15 minutes by taxi from the city center. The reasonable price as of May 2019 is 200Bs. When you visit, 300Bs was taken, so please be careful if you have a suitcase. There are not so many restaurants, but the food offered seems to change daily. Dinner can be enjoyed at restaurants that require a bit formal reservation, buffet style restaurants, and teppanyaki restaurants that are limited to the day of the week. There was also a restaurant where you can eat snacks. We did not use room service, but it seemed to be so. All the dishes we ate in the hotel were delicious. During the GW period I visited, a large amount of algae was generated and I could not enter the sea, but the sand was white and very beautiful. I think there are two large pools, a children's pool, and a bath-like pool. Many of the staff are friendly and I think I was able to speak almost in English. The staff of the lobby travel agent was not that kind. Because there was bath in room and view was good, we were able to spend comfortably. It is hotel where we want to stay at again.

Had heard and read amazing things. Other friends had experiences close to ours but seemed like a fluke, but it is definitely not... Proceed with caution as this is not your typical Rosewood experience..... Food is amazing and rooms are nice yet, but that's avialable in many places. We come for the Rosewood Experience...this property is not. The guest service's ability to accurately coordinate family activities is incompetent, likely due to either poor processes or inadequate staffing as people are nice---- except the shocking time they accused us of canceling an activity (so we were told it wasn't available) when the texts say otherwise). We have numerous examples of trying to plan pre arrival and during where requests not followed up on or even worse confirmations received for other families while ours were ignored. Also, our planned scuba trip (though the hotel) was cancelled due to the instructor not showing up for the scheduled dive-- after we waited for almost an hour past checkin time to learn about it. The staff (and presumably management) is aware of such problems but have done nothing to rectify Additionally, the wild raccoons and other larger animals are aggressive around smaller children and the hotel not caution us about it, and does nothing to help mitigate. Not a typical Rosewood level experience. Rosewood should de-Flag this property as it brings down the overall brand. Be wary of management responses that simply ”apologize” in the comments ...this is a deep rooted organizational issue.

The off-season is not too noisy, the people are not crowded, the food and drink are very high-end, the room hardware is very high-end, that is, it is comfortable and convenient, but also has face, the location is very good, and it is super safe!

hotel done fixed their mistake from the website I booked. When we arrived they told us we need to pay extra tax & no bkft included. But we showed them the itinerary that we payed. Hotel( Guillermo ) initiatively solve the mistake for us, which is a very good move! Allow us to enjoy more in the beautiful trip. Restaurant waiters are super kind and pay attention on their guests which is five star service we expected all the time. Thanks Walter giving us a wonderful experience. Also the one who assisted us bring luggage downstairs in this morning, Axel was super detail oriented in service, perspected our needs!! He deserved more! Thanks for those beautiful exp. your colleagues made our trips easy & enjoyable!
