There is a gas fan heater in the room, but it is centrally controlled and was not operating during the night when we visited. The room has a toilet with a washing machine. However, there is no refrigerator or kettle (and even a microwave), which are placed in the hallway as common equipment. Although the inn is somewhat inconvenient, I guess I should just concentrate on enjoying the bath without expecting too much.

We visited Aizuwakamatsu at the national holiday weekend so there were limited options to us in this famous onsen town, Hagishiyama. We wanted a more modern hotel, and while the shots of the room look good on their website, the reality is that it is much smaller than I had expected. Though the room looked new, the bathroom was a disappointment, small and shabby. With two large beds in the room, that leaves little space for moving around. And they try hard to squeeze all essential items of an onsen hotel room into the smallest space possible, including placing the vanity unit in the living room opposite the sleeping platform, sharing space with a kettle and drinking water glasses. There is a shoe stand and a folding screen in-between the toilet and bathroom, which is hugely strange and inconvenient. Ours is a 12-tatami room, which I expect would be good for 3 people, but the reality is that it is so cramped that one would not want to spend much time in the room. Perhaps that’s the reason why the hotel provided a lot of public sitting areas. Yes, for guests to admire the magnificent view of the mountain stream, but also to stay out of the uncomfortable room. The room was a huge disappointment but there are some nice sides of the hotel. Dinner was really good; we had window seats facing the waterfall and the Aizu beef was very delicious. The public onsets, especially the outdoor ones, are nice, situated just next to the mountain stream. All in all, for the US680 I paid for three, it was not good value for money.

We used it for one person per night in June 2020. Due to recent circumstances, breakfast was not a buffet style at the venue, but a form of taking rice balls, bowls, and packed side dishes to the room to eat. Although it is a pack format, I think the amount of breakfast was sufficient and the type of side dishes was good (^^) I thought it was easy to use even if I left early in the morning because I could eat it from 6:30 in the morning. Regarding the room, I heard the sound of the person in the next room biting his nose, but it seems that the walls are thin (-_-;) The cleanliness of the room is perfect, I was able to sleep well until morning in a comfortable space ☆ I could rent a blanket, so I didn't have any trouble with bedding. It was a room on the upper floors, so The view such as Aizuwakamatsu station was good.

This was our second time here. We came 2 years ago and were happy to return for a one-nighter in Nasu. We stayed in the Main tower. The room felt new. Big, comfortable and clean with a beautiful view on the forest and mountain. Nice big balcony. The dinner and breakfast buffets are really great. Very enjoyable and well organized. The swimming pool was fun. The public bath is spacious and very relaxing. Even if it is busy you can enjoy. Wonderful. The hotel is spacious. The grounds are beautiful. This is a family oriented hotel, so many kids. Lots of fun for them. Staff are wonderful. Great service. Love it. If you come to Nasu, Epinard is a solid choice.

The parking lot near the building is narrow and you will be directed to park in the farthest parking lot as you arrive. The lobby was clean and the lounge provided complimentary drinks. I didn't have to fill in the check-in myself, and after being guided to the room, I was able to relax in the room immediately after dinner and the inside of the hotel. Since we live in the mountains, we had a lot of vegetables for dinner, but many of the dishes were flavored with soup stock and looked beautiful. Unfortunately, the grilled fish was lukewarm. Because the price was high, I thought the main dish would be Japanese beef, but I was a little disappointed that it was domestic beef. After dinner, my friend had a stomach ache, so I asked the front desk for directions and was told it was a 15 minute walk, so we set off on foot. The temperature was -4 degrees Celsius, it was snowing a little, the ground was frozen solid, and we walked for about 30 minutes trying not to fall. Taxi on the way home. When I looked it up later, the distance was 1.7km. When I told the man at the front desk about it, he answered, ”I always walk in 15 minutes.” I was angry that the remark came out before the apology. How many people do you think can walk a snowy ice van and a 1.7km snowy road in 15 minutes? Still, the bath in the room was too great, so I was more satisfied. Only one person at the front desk was disappointing because there were many good places.
