"Wow what a fabulous setting. Such a lovely location with so much to offer. Breakfast was great with a buffet style hot and cold choices. Bed was very comfy and shower hot and excellent pressure. Only stayed 1 night but now on my radar as I will stay again on my next trip to south Devon."

"Zarezerwowaliśmy noc, ponieważ mieliśmy iść na gig w Totnes. Bar staff był przyjazny i pomocny. Gdy dotarliśmy do naszego pokoju byliśmy zadowoleni, że mamy mnóstwo dostaw herbaty, kawy, mleka, gorącej czekolady itp. Pokój był czysty i czysty, ale nie chciałby spędzić tam więcej nocy, ponieważ był dość kompaktowy "

"We booked two nights at the Maltsters, we arrived on Sunday and were shown to the Nightingale room, a very good sized room overlooking the river, large comfortable bed, two armchairs and a coffee table. The large bathroom can best be described as traditional, roll top bath and a tiled shower cubicle in the corner. Everything was clean and well maintained. We discovered that dinner service was last orders at 7pm. On entering the dining area we found that it was the Sunday roast menu, and what a roast it was, plenty of beef and pork, roast potatoes, yorkshire pudding, 4 different veg. Best roast we had had away from home for quite a while. Our 2nd night was the a la carte menu, we tried the ham hock croquettes and the sardines followed by the duck cassoulet, there was an unfortunate accident with my duck in the kitchen so it turned up 10 minutes after the other portion, without asking they comped both the duck and my 2nd pint. The cheese cake was very good and the cheese plate was a large portion of good quality cheese. Also they have a good selection of real ales. The ordered breakfasts are good, we tried the full english and the eggs Royal was very good, there's not much else though apart from toast and cereals. This was our 2nd visit and if in the area we will return, the only minus point was the tv in the room which didn't appear to work, we wouldn't normally bother with the TV but it was the last 5 minutes of the Euros, as it turned out we didn't miss anything !!!"

"Had a two night stay at this B and B recently under new management. New owners warm and welcoming but I think are needing to try to catch their breath and look at some of the finer details of the establishment. I’m aware they are planning to do so. Parking available and close to the town which is a positive Breakfast was good, second day a little more generous . Room was tired and dark and could do with some updating Bed comfy ,clean bed linen but not pressed Wish the hosts success in the future"

"after hearing rave reviews, a friend and I visited here for lunch Not particularly friendly service…..a huge lunch menu, with far too many herbs and spices listed on the blackboard We were both bitterly disappointed and did mention this to the waitress. We needn’t have bothered left feeling hungry"

"We visited recently with friends, and we were looking forward to an enjoyable Sunday Lunch. We all ordered the 28 day aged slow cooked Roast Beef and were anticipating a succulent meal. To our amazement, we found that the meat was chewy and tough. My wife discreetly raised the issue with a staff member who said he would speak to the kitchen. He returned several minutes later, saying they could substitute the beef for another meat from the menu. My wife chose chicken, and I had roast belly pork, which also turned out to be very chewy. At no time did we receive an apology or any expression of regret. When we paid for the meal, we were charged full price, and the issue wasn't mentioned at all. The most disappointing aspect was the poor customer service. An obvious problem was barely acknowledged, and the bare minimum was done to resolve the problem. Eating out is not inexpensive, and our experience was spoiled as much by the attitude of the staff as the tough meat we were served. We live locally and will not be back"
