The hotel is clean, and comfortable. We had a sea view with a balcony. There is a pool. Breakfast was included and was comprised of bacon and eggs, pastries, cheese, bread, coffee and juices. The front desk is helpful. They have some odd procedures. You need to have someone come to the room so that the mini fridge can be turned on. You need to pay a 3.5 Euro washing fee for towels to use at the pool. They have signs in the bathroom warning that the water is not potable. When we asked about the warning at the front desk, they said it was okay to brush your teeth, but they recommended against drinking the tap water???? The hotel has a long steep driveway and is located at the top of a hill that leads down into the old town. This means there is a long uphill walk when returning from the town. We stayed only two nights, since we were using it a a base to visit an ancestral town in Calabria. We definitely loved Tropea, but will not use the Hotel Tropis again if in the area.
