Review:
The hotel is in an excellent location, just a short 10‑minute walk to Jonker Street, making it perfect for exploring the vibrant night market and historic attractions. The convenience of being able to stroll to shops, eateries, and cultural landmarks adds great value to the stay. Rooms are comfortable, and the overall atmosphere is welcoming. Highly recommended for travelers who want to be close to the heart of Malacca without needing transport.

A lovely heritage building tastefully refurbished - situated within a 15 minute walk from the centre of this UNESCO World Heritage site. Rome was clean and comfortable. Elegant lounge reminiscent of colonial times. Attentive and helpful staff at reception and restaurant - special mention of Mr Saddam at the restaurant and Miss Ei Ei at reception. A lovely place in which to stay when visiting Melaka.

Jeden z najlepszych hoteli, w jakich nocowałem w Melace. Zdecydowanie niedoceniany. Hotel sąsiaduje z Residences i centrum handlowym.

The check-in process necessitates roadside parking prior to accessing the designated car park, which can lead to traffic congestion. The hotel's car park, located on levels 7 and 8, involves a rather arduous ascent.
The premises comprise four blocks; two are residential, and two are hotel accommodations managed by separate entities. The room itself is spacious, featuring two beds, and is maintained to a clean and tidy standard. While there are four lifts, their operation is slow, and a transfer is required to reach the car park. Breakfast, a makeshift buffet of local, low-quality food, was provided; however, during my three-day stay, I opted for it only once as it was largely unexceptional.

The hotel’s location is absolutely excellent—right in the heart of Jonker Walk. Everything is just steps away, whether you want to explore the night market, enjoy local food, or grab a casual drink in the evening. It’s incredibly convenient and perfect for a lively yet effortless stay.
One of the best parts is that room service is available until 10:30 PM, so even if you don’t feel like heading out, you can still enjoy a delicious meal comfortably in your room.
The breakfast spread is impressive and truly delicious. There is a wide variety of options, including Nyonya cuisine, Western dishes, porridge, Malay noodles, pasta, croissants, and fresh fruits—something for every taste.
The hotel’s design reflects a beautiful Baba-Nyonya style, creating a charming and relaxing holiday atmosphere. There is also a small rooftop water play area where kids can splash around and have lots of fun, which adds a lovely family-friendly touch to the stay.
Overall, the experience was exceptional—truly a perfect stay from start to finish!

The hotel is clean and it provides very comfortable bed, even for an extra bed. Toilet and shower facilities are fine with toiletries provided nicely as a 5-star hotel would. Buffet breakfast was decent, great food to start a day for Malay and Indian cuisine lovers. View was ok especially during sunset.
The proximity to the so-called Elements mall should not be counted as the mall is a ghost mall with not many shops around to eat. Need to take grab to anywhere decent for eating and shopping. The surrounding resembles a bit like a ghost town due to pandemic-induced economic downfall. Imperio and Elements nearby are emptied out.
The counter service is good enough but not that fantastic, the staff are not confident speaking English. I asked about parking and ev charging, and could not much help as I was simply directed to the Elements mall manager to charge at 5th floor. I give up on the idea of driving to Malacca the next time. i

Hotel room is spacious and clean. The service staff are friendly and very attentive. The hotel is located near Jonker Street, room overseeing the river and there are lots of delicious food stalls outside the hotel vicinity. High lie recommended.

The staffs were friendly and helpful. It's a strategic location for travellers and a convenient and safe location for solo travellers. The hotel is quite clean and comfortable. The walls aren't soundproof however during my stay it wasn't a big deal. Overall, the stay was pleasant and I'd definitely choose this hotel again.

Booked a room with 2 king beds for a 2 night stay w my family.
Pros :
1. Spacious room size
2. Comfy beds
3. Beautiful view (we could see the entire city and our window was facing towards sea)
4. Free Parking
5. 10-15 mins walking distance to the River Cruise
6. No problems with lifts.
Just some additional notes for travellers :
(If) you don’t want room service to clean your rooms bc you don’t mind reusing your towels, you will not be able to receive the complimentary water bottles.
For families with cars, (if) you need to travel back and forth between the hotel and outside, you will always need to stop by the lobby counter to validate your carpark ticket in order to get free parking and it’s only valid for 15 minutes (more than enough time).

Great
GGuest UserI recently stayed at The Baba House Melaka and had an enjoyable experience overall. The property is clean, well-maintained, and beautifully preserved despite being a heritage building. It offers a unique Peranakan atmosphere while still providing a comfortable stay.
The staff provided excellent service throughout our visit. Requests that were communicated in advance were accommodated, and they took the initiative to arrange the multiple rooms we booked close to one another, which was greatly appreciated and made our stay more convenient.
There are a couple of areas where improvements could be made. The hotel does not offer self-service laundry facilities, which may be inconvenient for guests on longer stays. In addition, the rooms are not particularly soundproof, and noises from outside the room can sometimes be heard.
Overall, the charm of the heritage property, cleanliness, good maintenance, and attentive staff outweighed these minor drawbacks. I would recommend it to travellers looking for a heritage stay in Melaka with friendly and accommodating service.
TThe Foreign LocalIf you are an expat exploring Malacca on a budget, 906 Hotel Melaka Raya is a fantastic choice. The property stands out with its charming vintage furniture and incredibly comfortable beds that guarantee a great night's sleep. It is immaculately clean and offers unbeatable value for money. The highlight is the unique lobby trophy showcase, reflecting the owners' passion for basketball. Complete with super friendly service and an amazing night staff guy, it is a highly recommended, welcoming stay.
4 Nearby Attractions to Explore
Conveniently located in the commercial heart of Melaka Raya, you are just minutes away from these top local highlights:
**A Famosa (Porta de Santiago): Located less than 2 km away, this iconic 16th-century Portuguese fortress gateway is one of the oldest surviving European architectural remains in Southeast Asia.
**Melaka Straits Mosque (Masjid Selat Melaka): A stunning modern mosque built on a man-made island just down the road. At high tide, it looks as though it is gracefully floating on the sea.
Dataran Pahlawan Melaka Megamall: Right around the corner, this massive retail hub is perfect for shopping, local eateries, and escaping the afternoon heat.
Jonker Street Night Market:
Just a short drive or a steady walk away across the river, this vibrant weekend market is the ultimate destination for antique hunting, cultural street art, and legendary local street food like chicken rice balls and Nyonya laksa.
GGuest UserWe had a pleasurable 4 nights stay at Parkroyal A'famosa Resort. The rooms were well equipped and had all basic amenities. Upon request we were offered pool view rooms that was nice gesture. Only draw back the TV was lagging, hotel should look into it as we couldn't use TV totally during our stay and probably upgrade it to a smart TV, so that guest can have more entertainment option. Bathrooms were fitted with filtered water taps, but we optted for bottle water and you need to request for it. Staff were polite and approachable. Overall cleanliness of te room is good but corners, walls and walkways need to be cleaned too if left unattended it can build lot of dust. Especially room balcony.
Breakfast buffet was decent and had varied options, but would appreciate more quality and flavour. parata and rendang beef/ mutton and sambal chicken was very good. Fruits options were limited for breakfast in all days never saw banana, Papaya or pineapple being served ony varied melons. Understand Fruits are seasonal but in Malaysia these fruits available all year around.
The hotel is closer to A'famosa outlet mall which is very good for shopping and more food options, but you can't walk need to drive because of the traffic conditions. Hotel should consider a back entrance option to the mall for a walkable option for guest
Overall experienceis good and relaxing. We enjoyedour stay.
AAnonymous UserMy stay at this hotel was fairly decent for a short trip. The location was convenient, and I appreciated the free outdoor parking provided for guests. However, the cleanliness could definitely be improved. The bedsheet did not seem properly changed, and there was a brownish stain in the middle of the bed, which affected the overall comfort of the stay.
There was also an incident during the night when the safety box suddenly started beeping unexpectedly. Thankfully, after calling the front desk, the staff responded very quickly and came to solve the problem professionally, which I appreciated.
GGuest UserOverall, we were very satisfied with the hotel’s facilities and family-friendly environment. However, I would not recommend staying during peak season due to the long waiting time for room allocation. Although check-in was at 3:30 PM, we only received our room between 6:00 PM and 7:00 PM. While guests were allowed to enjoy the facilities and complimentary light refreshments while waiting, the delay was challenging, especially for young children who were already tired after travelling.
Unfortunately, the room cleanliness was below expectations. It appeared that housekeeping was rushing to prepare rooms. There was visible dust and small pieces of rubbish on the floor, the shower gel bottle was completely empty and had not been refilled, and the balcony had not been swept. Most concerning was finding a Charlie ant near the curtain.
That said, I would like to compliment the hotel manager for the prompt response when we requested additional bottled drinking water. The service recovery was appreciated.
The breakfast offered a wide variety of choices and was delicious. Parking was convenient, and the facilities were excellent, making the hotel highly suitable for families with young children.
In conclusion, the housekeeping standards and room waiting time require significant improvement. However, the food, parking, and facilities were excellent. The location is slightly outside Malacca city centre, with most tourist attractions approximately 15–20 minutes away by car.
GGuest UserThe hotel tried its best, but it has definitely seen better days. We entered a room that was clean, and the beds were made perfectly. I had requested adjoining rooms on a high floor, and both requests were accommodated, which I appreciated.
The fridge and phone in our room were not working, but it wasn’t a big deal—we simply used the adjoining room’s. However, I would have been quite annoyed if we hadn’t had the adjoining room to fall back on.
At around S$60 per room during the school holiday weekend, it’s difficult to find another hotel in such a central location that also includes breakfast, so the value for money is hard to ignore.
I would also like to commend the staff. The front desk team was welcoming, and the housekeeping team responded promptly to our requests throughout our two-day stay. The buffet breakfast was consistently topped up whenever items ran low, although the selection of pastries was limited. Overall, the staff were amazing—warm and friendly whenever we crossed paths, whether at the front desk, during housekeeping interactions, or at breakfast service.
That said, there are areas that could use significant improvement. The bathrooms are overdue for renovation, with rusty corners and stubborn stains in several places. The towels have also seen better days—they were thin and had visible holes.
I don't fault the staff for these issues, as they seem to be doing their best with a property that is quite run-down. I believe the hotel management needs to do a better job of updating and maintaining the facilities. Overall, this is a budget-friendly option with excellent service, though the hotel's physical condition could benefit from some much-needed upgrades.
GGuest UserFriendly staff throughout the hotel. Check in and out was smooth, although there was a queue for check in, probably as it was a long weekend. Very accomodating to.our requests (we had a total of 6 rooms).
Room was clean with usual amenities. Good water pressure and cold aircon, except for one room which was at the end. That one was a bit warm so suggest don't take end rooms unless you get cold easily. Walking in you'll find a mini sitting room with a couch & tv. Partial glass partition between this and the bedroom.
Breakfast was alright, quite a big space and nicely done up. Appreciate that the mains were double sided so people were spread out. A bit slow on the plate clearing but understood it was a busy period.
This is a non-smoking hotel so if you need to smoke will have to go to front of hotel or to the 9th flr car park.
There's a 7-11 on the ground floor as well as a nonya restaurant and a 'kopi tiam' sort of eatery with nice nasi lemak.
Overall it was a pleasant stay and would consider staying here again.
CChikibumbum92This was our fifth stay at this hotel, and unfortunately, this time was very disappointing.
1. Check-in
The check-in process was smooth, and the staff were polite and welcoming. I had requested a Queen Bed room instead of Twin Beds. However, I was informed that because my booking was made at the last minute (one day before check-in), only a Twin Bed room was available as all Queen Bed rooms were fully occupied. We accepted the explanation and proceeded with the room provided.
2. Room Condition
Upon entering the room, the first issue we noticed was the air conditioning. Despite setting the fan speed to high, the room remained warm and the air conditioner was not cooling properly.
3. Bathroom
There appeared to be a blockage beneath the sink, as water was pooling around the sink and toilet area. In addition, the shower holder was broken while we were using the shower. We chose not to complain and continued our stay.
4. Room Door & Bathroom Door
The bathroom door could not be closed properly unless it was pulled and pushed firmly. The more serious issue occurred the next morning after breakfast when our room door became stuck and could not be opened.
We contacted maintenance, and the team arrived to inspect the problem. From approximately 8:00 AM onwards, we were unable to access our room. Around 8:30 AM, the maintenance team requested approval from the Front Office to move us to another room because the repair would require additional time. However, they informed that changing rooms would incur an additional charge because we were checking out on the same day.
I strongly disagree with this decision. From 8:30 AM until our checkout time at 12:00/12:30 PM, we were still paying guests of the hotel. The room issue was caused by a defect on the hotel’s side, and guests should not be charged extra to move rooms due to problems beyond their control.
The Most Disappointing Part
During check-in, we were informed that no Queen Bed Deluxe Rooms were available. However, while the maintenance team was accessing our room through the connecting room next door, we discovered that the adjacent room was vacant and equipped with a Queen Bed.
If the actual reason was that the room was unavailable due to maintenance, it would have been more professional and honest to explain that from the beginning rather than simply saying all Queen Bed rooms were fully occupied.
This experience has left us very disappointed. Every time we visit Melaka, this hotel has always been our preferred choice. However, after this stay, we have decided not to return.
I appreciate the hospitality shown by the staff during check-in, but I sincerely hope the hotel will improve both its facilities and service standards. Thank you.
GGuest UserWe really loved this hotel. It's spacious. The seaview is excellent & the beachfront is clean. It's centrally located & near Pantai Klebang which is buzzling & lively on weekends
GGuest UserThe location is incredibly convenient. Just downstairs and around the corner, there are so many food options within walking distance – you'll never go hungry, even without a car. It's also super close to San Shu Gong Red House, about a 10-minute walk. The room itself was very clean, spacious, and comfortable. Plus, the restaurant right next door downstairs is delicious!
