The swimming pool appeared quite big, although we didn't get a chance to use it. Our room was fairly roomy for two people, but with our group of four, it felt a bit crowded. It's worth noting that if you have heavy luggage, you might want to avoid booking a room on the top floor (second floor), as there are no lifts available in this hotel. The bathroom provided only shampoo and body wash, so you might need to bring or purchase your own conditioner. The breakfast exceeded my expectations. Despite anticipating a traditional British offering, I was pleasantly surprised by the variety available, including English hot meals, a salad bar, a selection of cereals (there was Alpen!), milk alternatives (I particularly enjoyed the Oatly), and two coffee machines. Their breakfast was so impressive that I will definitely consider staying at this hotel again when I visit Colchester next time.

Our room was spotless , a comfy bed and a good shower , the pool+ hot room area were really good, but for reference there are 3 (members only) aqua aerobics classes a week which use the whole pool , and whose participants’warm up’ prior to the class -so it’s very busy to the class , there are a great selection of (pre bootable )classes , treatments and a well equipped  gym (all obviously open to  members ) , the meal options are delicious, and the staff are charming

Piękny nowoczesny pokój. Wielki mokry pokój. Wyczerpaliśmy papier toaletowy i nie ma innego w pokoju. Łóżko było bardzo wygodne. Suszarka do włosów, żelazo i sukienka do ubrań w pokoju.  Hotele alarm pożarowy zdecydowanie działał jak obudził się o 7 rano, aby ewakuować budynek. Bezpieczeństwo było bardzo szybkie sortowanie problem, gości zapalił świeczkę w jednym z pokoi. Użył basenu parowego i spa, które były darmowe.  Dobrej różnorodności żywności na śniadanie z dobrym widokiem na okoliczne miejsca. Duży parking bezpłatnie

I booked a last minute night away with the children: afternoon tea followed by an overnight. The afternoon tea was delicious and I was really well catered for as a vegan diner. The Grand Hall was a beautiful setting for afternoon tea. The children also loved their food - the sandwiches were much simpler for the children and they got seconds based on how delicious they were. Our room was large and had a sofa bed and a cot bed. We enjoyed playing in the grounds including the play area, outdoor chess, boules, the scavenger hunt and the fitness trail. My son also loved playing football in the garden - he was excited that there were goals set up. We had dinner in The Fox Bar and had drinks and played cards in the Grand Hall afterwards. Breakfast the next morning was delicious. We were really excited to find newts in the pond. They would love to stay again. I would love to come for an overnight with my partner to experience it differently without the children.

BBootsTheExplorerI had a great stay in this hotel. Friendly and accommodating staff. Very clean and tidy. Food is amazing especially their breakfast. I was happy my room was on the ground floor coz i don’t think there is a lift. I has a nice view from my window too. Will definitely recommend. Worth my money.

GGuest UserLovely modern room. Great wet room. We run out of toilet paper and no other left in room. Bed was very comfortable. Hairdryer, iron and dressing gown in room.  Hotels fire alarm definitely worked as got woken at 7am to evacuate building. Security were very quick to sort issue, guest had lit candle in one of the rooms. Used the swimming pool steam room and spa which was free.  Good variety of food at breakfast with good view of surrounding grounds. Big car park free of charge
