Bit far away from centre, around is construction work and hard to find it. Its like in the end of a road behind i a stadium.

Dit was voor ons de vijfde keer dat we in The Market verbleven. De ligging is fantastisch aan de Grote Markt met een lekker groot terras ervoor. Heerlijke drukte overdag en ‘s avonds. In de kamers hoor je daar echter niets van. De kamers zijn van alle gemakken voorzien en heel schoon. Het personeel is vriendelijk, behulpzaam en gastvrij. Het ontbijt is heerlijk. Je kunt er ook heerlijk lunchen, borrelen of een koffie drinken met lekker gebak van Westen. Kortom een aanrader en wij komen zeker terug.

Great hotel close to the centre of Groningen. Particularly appreciated the social space and the table tennis tables! Rooms small and comfortable - we took one with a kitchen which was serviceable. Got a box of utensils and dishes from reception, which was OK, but not that flexible in contents. Would definitely stay here again on our next visit to see family.
Desk staff were helpful and pleasant - cleaning staff very responsive. Everyone was comfortable speaking English.

From the moment I stepped into The Happy Traveler Hotel, I felt genuinely welcomed. The staff were incredibly friendly, attentive, and always ready to help with a smile, making me feel at home right away. The check-in process was smooth and efficient, and I appreciated how they offered local tips that truly enhanced my stay.
The room was spotless, spacious, and thoughtfully designed with both comfort and practicality in mind. The bed was exceptionally comfortable, the linens fresh, and the bathroom sparkling clean. I especially loved the little touches—like complimentary snacks, quality toiletries, and a cozy reading nook—that made the space feel personal and inviting.
Location-wise, it’s unbeatable. Situated close to key attractions, public transport, and charming cafes, it made exploring the city effortless. Despite being centrally located, my room was wonderfully quiet at night, ensuring a restful sleep after a day of adventure.

Wir hatten einen sehr angenehmen Aufenthalt hier. Tolle Lage direkt am Wasser und in die Innenstadt von Groningen ist es (zumindest mit dem Fahrrad) auch nicht weit. Das Personal war sehr freundlich, das Frühstück sehr gut und reichhaltig und der Pool hat das entspannte Erlebnis voll gemacht.

AAnonymous UserVery good located hotel. Good for a short weekend trip or a city trip to Groningen. They have a parking area underneath the hotel which costs extra but generally much less than parking on the streets. The rooms are spacious and have everything thing you need. Would be nice to have a fridge though but all in all everything you need for a city hotel. The service is very friendly they have good recommendations for the city and also plan activities or restaurant reservations if you would like to.
All in all 100% recommend for staying in Groningen!

The hotel has a creative travel theme that we saw everywhere we looked, right down to the smallest details. We had a large, clean bathroom and comfy beds. You're right in the city center, which could potentially lead to some noise, but the hotel even has solutions for that. All in all, we had a wonderful stay!

GGuest UserThe hotel is right in the centre of Veendam, and whilst it's not luxurious, it's clean and comfortable. The bar is excellent, their own beers are also very good, and there's a wide range of others available should you prefer. The food in the restaurant was also pretty good, being tasty and generous. We'll certainly be back!

DDawn.R 芮莉The hotel is very clean with a great location in the centre of the city. The room is spacious and even though there are three beds in the room there is space to move and place suitcases. The room is quiet with ac. Breakfast is 18 euro per person so we decided to walk to Starbucks instead.

GGuest UserThe room was perfectly fine! It had all the facilities you'd need, though it was quite small. The hotel's service was fantastic. For example, we received complimentary drinks in our minibar, including a small bottle of wine, a beer, some soft drinks, and water. Breakfast was a bit pricey, but delicious! The location is also definitely a plus. It's about a 10-minute bus ride to the city center and very close to the Stadspark (City Park). If I visit Groningen again, I'll definitely choose Mercure.

GGuest UserThe single room is very small. The breakfast is mainly cold dishes such as bread spread/cheese and fruit, as well as one or two hot dishes. Toothbrushes and indoor slippers are not provided. The front desk is nice, but the facilities are really just that. The location is very convenient

ZzoeluThe experience is quite good. The restaurant downstairs has good food. Locals like to dine here. The restaurant is also a place for breakfast in the morning. The design is also very good. The hotel is very convenient to go out, which adds a lot to my impression of Groningen.
