+ The stuff is very friendly and hospitable, they helped with everything, the room is nice and stylish, very close to the beach. Nice sea views - The cleaning is awful, the room was cleaned 2 times in 5 days and they didn’t change bed linen sets. It wasn’t easy to get the taxi to the centre in the afternoon (we have been waiting for 30 minutes)

An attractive hotel in a former imperial complex (a library or something like that) offering large, clean rooms. It's up on the side of a hill but taxis/rideshare will take you to the front door. Also it's very close to the town center and is a short ride to the temples that are of interest in Chengde. They have a decent breakfast at the onsite restaurant, and a dinner service featuring local dishes that are supposed to be similar to what an emperor might have eaten. So you can dine like an emperor, for a fee. The large deer roaming the grounds stare at your with the big, sad eyes, obviously looking for a handout, but don't fall for it as there's plenty of grass. There was some construction going on, seems the buildings are being refurbished, but it did not really interfere with our stay. Signs in English and English-speaking staff at the front desk.

My overall experience at the hotel was okay, but there were a couple of issues that stood out. Some of the towels in my room had a noticeable smell of cigarette smoke, which was unpleasant. Additionally, the lobby area had exposed cigarette butts that hadn’t been cleaned up, which gave a poor impression upon entering. While the stay was otherwise fine, addressing these cleanliness and odor issues would make the experience much better.

GGuest UserThis hotel was a truly wonderful surprise! The location is top-notch, super convenient for getting around, being so close to both the subway station and major attractions. The lobby is elegantly decorated and has a subtle, calming fragrance that instantly helps you relax. The front desk staff, especially the lady who assisted me, was incredibly kind. She upgraded my room for free and thoughtfully sent up fruit and a sweet soup. Service was very prompt. My room was spacious and bright, with soft, comfortable bedding, and a selection of pillows at different heights – I slept like a baby. The bathroom had a great dry/wet separation, brand-name toiletries, and excellent water pressure from the shower. Breakfast was abundant, offering both Chinese and Western options; the freshly made noodles and fried eggs were particularly delicious. Overall, the experience far exceeded my expectations. It's excellent value for money, and I'll definitely choose this place again on my next visit. Highly recommend it to everyone!

AAnonymous UserWe come here with the kids every year for skiing because the ski-in/ski-out access is super convenient. However, it gets incredibly crowded each year. This year it snowed when we were there, which was lucky, as we seem to hit the snow every time. But because of the crowds, things like dining aren't the best experience. Also, for some reason, the room temperature was extremely high this time, at 28 degrees, and I couldn't adjust it myself. I called for staff, and they were very polite, but even after they tried to fix it, nothing changed. We ended up sleeping with the window open at night, and it was really stuffy, so we didn't sleep well. My child got sick after playing. We needed a late checkout, and it was a hassle to request even just an extra hour. Isn't late checkout pretty normal, especially since I didn't even check in until after 3 PM?

There's a canteen, a coffee shop, a bakery, a hot spring, shops, and three restaurants, all within a 2-3 minute walk from the hotel. Speaking of the hotel itself, it features a Japanese-style design, and both the hardware and software are impeccably maintained, perfectly complementing the outside scenery (you can refer to the pictures). Check-in starts at 3 PM, but if you arrive early, you can explore the nearby area. The hotel provides a shuttle service to the second phase, which takes about 5 minutes. Highly recommended!

KKellyC_**Hotel Review: Aesthetic Excellence Overshadowed by Comfort Failures** Our recent stay at this supposedly 5-star hotel left us with mixed feelings. While the hotel clearly invested heavily in aesthetics, creating a visually stunning environment that looks fantastic in photos, the design seemed to prioritize form over function, ultimately compromising our comfort. Sadly, this became a deal-breaker for us. The most glaring issue was the room's ventilation and temperature control—or lack thereof. We visited in early March, and the entire building was excessively heated. Despite being from a tropical country and accustomed to warm weather, I found myself sweating in shorts and a singlet. The staff, though polite and eager to help, seemed powerless to address the issue. They provided us with a small portable AC unit, which was better than nothing, but it was clear from their demeanor that this was a recurring problem for guests. Sleeping was a nightmare. The only way to cool the room slightly was to keep the windows open, but this meant having the blinds and curtains up, allowing outside noise and light to flood in. The choice was between sleeping in a sauna-like environment or enduring the disturbances from outside. Needless to say, we had a terrible night's sleep and were relieved to check out after just one night. On a positive note, the service was impeccable. The staff truly deserve recognition for their efforts to assist guests despite the limitations they faced. The breakfast spread was also a highlight—delicious, varied, and reasonably priced, especially if you inform them in advance about adding breakfast to your stay. The room amenities were top-notch, and the spaciousness of the room added to the overall sense of luxury. We got a family suite which was plenty spacious and came with 2 bedrooms, 3 bathrooms, 2 bathtubs and a living area. However, these positives couldn’t outweigh the discomfort caused by the poor temperature regulation. During our trip, we stayed in four different cities across China, and this was the only hotel that lacked proper air conditioning and heating controls. For a 5-star establishment, this is a significant oversight. In conclusion, while the hotel excels in aesthetics, service, and amenities, the lack of a well-thought-out solution for room temperature is a major drawback. Management needs to address this issue with a long-term fix. After all, no matter how beautiful a hotel looks, it’s hard to appreciate it when you can’t get a good night’s rest.

__ZFB886588****An older hotel, but the facilities are still complete and the room was pretty clean. You can't expect too much from an old hotel. It's best to take a Didi (ride-hailing service) from the station; don't just jump into a shared ride, you might get ripped off. It's just outside the city wall, and I personally think staying here is more comfortable than inside the wall. Among the performances, only the iron flower show is worth seeing, but you absolutely need to get there early to secure a good spot, otherwise, you won't be able to watch. The commercial streets are all pretty much the same!

BBeb ShanghaiVery modern / new and confortable rooms - we got upgraded to a two bedroom apartment and it was very comfortable. Right by the ski slope ; 3 buildings you can reach through the parking lot or if the weather allows it from outside where you’ll find plenty of restaurants ; ski rental / gear rental services just right outside the ski lifts. In the room though no plates / cutlery / cooking tools but as we are in touch on WeChat with a very nice lady, I guess we could have asked for it. 潇湘 was helpful all along and would immediately reply to all our requests. A coupon system to get access to the breakfast restaurant ; other coupons to get discounts to rent gears and buy ski cards (a bit complicated when you don’tread Chinese) but we did manage to use them. For ski passes: note that if you buy 4 hours ski pass, it starts when you swipe your first ski lift but I think the équipement rental is for 24h so you might not have to give back your equipment every day. A bit of a hassle every morning to queue up for ski pass / equipment in the midst of CNY.

KKwanDuring the past few days in Zhangjiakou, the most unforgettable thing is not the passion of the track, but the emotion brought by the front desk. My family sent a box of sports drinks before I left. I made sure to make sure it was delivered on the day of the game. The result was that I, a road ******, filled in the wrong district address. The courier was sorting from the south of the city to a novice post office in the north of the city. Just after the race ended at 4 p.m., the logistics information showed that ”the post office is already at the post office,” but we had to leave for the next city at 5 p.m, and looked at the postoffice address 10 kilometers away on the map, stamping our feet in a hurry. When she heard this, Ms. Park comforted me by saying, ”Don't worry, I'll find a way,” grabbing the keys to her electric car and running out. She returned 20 minutes later, sweating and panting, saying, ”The sorting officers had the wrong zoning area. I went halfway through the warehouse with them to find it!” She thought she could get it now, but she frowned again and said, ”The box is too big to fit in the electric car basket. I'm afraid it will be broken on the road. I'll run around and pack it in the trunk again!” Before I could react, she turned and rushed down the stairs again - the second time she saw her, she had a sweat scarf on her arm, With her hands tightly wrapped around the trunk, even her work shirt was soaked with sweat, but she smiled and said, ”I just borrowed a shock absorber from the post office, and none of the drinks damaged.” When she tore open the packaging, she also purposely put a note on the trunk: ”Remember to replenish electrolytes after the game!” At that moment, I suddenly felt that although the wind of Zhangjiakou was cool with the grassland, but the box of drinks and the smile of my little sister, the trophy of the race course was more heart-warming. When I met such a service in a strange city, I really wanted to share the warmth with everyone! She not only helped us to get the express, but also let me feel the ”heart for heart” service temperature. Next time I come to Zhangjiakou, I will definitely choose this hotel full of human touch.

TTimLimBad check in service at front counter lady. Seems more occupied with her task than guest service. I have to call and request for our sofa bed to be open. Given we book and indicated a family of 4, unlike other hotels whom immediately arrange all additional required items such as toothbrushs, slippers, towels, water, etc. Here I have to call to request for each items. The wifi doesn't work. I have to physically bring my laptop to the front desk for assistance.. and even that was not able to connect. Breakfast, average as the food are abit hard - hard noodles, hotdogs, breads.. Only cons is location near to ski and restaurants but so are a few hotels nearby. Free scheduled public bus shuttle to/fro train station, have to walk about 7 mins to the bus stop. As a Hyatt member, this is the worse Hyatt Place hotels I stayed. I believe surrounding hotels will have better guest services and competitive price too.

HHaobaishaoI stayed here last winter when I came to soak in the hot springs. I was very satisfied with the private room last time. This time I wanted to go around, so I asked the front desk to help me get a room facing the sea. Wang Zeyu, the front desk, quickly arranged the room after hearing our needs. Thank you! It’s a good experience to walk on the wooden boardwalk by the sea. The water lilies in the park are so beautiful. Especially this week, I went to the vegetation near the seaside (behind the hot springs), where there are many locusts, and it is a good season for the fragrance of locust flowers. There are also tourists and fishing enthusiasts digging on the beach. This time I know how the sandworms were found. It’s always a fresh experience to stay in this hotel. I don’t know what fun and delicious things I will find next time.
