"Nice unique bar and restaurant. Nice style rooms with comfy beds and very quiet. Food was good and reasonable and breakfast was nice - although anything beyond continental is paid for on top."

The Dog & Partridge Country Inn ★★★

"A quick overnight stay as it was a handy location for visiting Alton Towers. Booking was simple, price was reasonable and turned out to be excellent value for money. Easy to find with the sat nav as the hamlet of Mappleton seems to be a one road place. Checked in at the pub bar, very friendly and great atmosphere. Room was exactly as expected, spotlessly clean and well presented. Very comfortable bed. Breakfast in the morning was delicious. Would recommend and stay again if I’m ever in the area."

"Tried to book restaurant on phone and eventually left a message on answerphone. Message said would ring back but didn't! Went anyway and eventually got a table. If you like noisy, busy places then this is for you! Car park was packed as a function on in annex. Food was OK but a bit never mind the quality stack it high! Sorry, not my place for a relaxing evening! Staff were pleasant and apologised for wait."
