My husband and I booked a room for us and another room for my niece and her family. We got the garden rooms and the place was absolutely family friendly. My grandnieces and grandnephew enjoyed the playground as well as the kids pool. We reserved our first night dinner at the Leaf restaurant and let me tell you “THE FOOD WAS SUMPTUOUS.” Breakfast was included, the food choices were plentiful, coffee, juices, fruits, cereal, cheese, bacon, ham, eggs, pastries, cakes, bread, even have swirl ice cream for kids. My niece who lives in Copenhagan will probably go back to this place as they usually bring the kids to Legoland for summer vacation. My husband and I will definitely go back, whenever we visit Europe again, God willing.

I booked this hotel for our trip to Legoland. The hotel is conveniently located within walking distance to Legoland. Plenty of parking space available and there is possibility to charge your car if you have 3 pin industrial socket to schuko. There were 3 plugs available but only 1 has schuko plug so we will have to take turns to charge our car. Breakfast was good and my son liked the waffle so much. Dennis and Jan were the MVP during our stay. They were attentive and very friendly to cater all our needs during the stay. Housekeeping lady did really good job keeping the room clean with all the dirt we brought from Legoland. However I would like to offer a suggestion that the hotel provide a floor squeegee to help keep the bathroom floor dry, it is quite slippery after we finished showering. In the room they provide small table fan which is quite enough to cool down during really hot day when we were there (35 C in the afternoon). Luckily in the evening the temperature dropped to around 25 C so we can open room window to cool the room down. Definitely will visit again if we want to go to Legoland.

If You are looking for a hotel that is situated not far from the aiport and legoland - just a prefect place to be. Great design hotel, very positive personnel, food also great. At the reception You can even order from local pizzeria and they will bring You to Your room. When You eat - children can play Lego (You can also if You want :) Airport is literally 2 minutes of walking :)

We stayed at Hestkaer Family Rooms in June 2023 for 3 nights. English Family of 4, kids aged 6 & 12. We chose to stay in one of the school themed apartment rooms with a private bathroom and kitchenette. This was the first flight abroad due to Covid etc for our 6 year old and first time any of us had been to Denmark. The flight is only 1hr 25mins from UK. We booked just the week before, direct flights with Ryanair & booked the accommodation direct with Hestkaer Family Rooms for the best price. What a surprisingly good success! Hestkaer Family Rooms is great for families with children. The owner Christian is a great guy, friendly and helpful. Our flight was delayed so we arrived late but a short taxi ride to the accommodation with no problems. First day we explored the many inclusive facilities at Hestkaer Family Rooms. Trampolines, crazy golf, badminton, kids go carts, skateboards, climbing frames, kids zip wire, animals -rabbits goats pigs, Lego, games room with pool table, air hockey table, darts, Nintendo & PlayStation games & kids even watched the annoying YouTube nonsense that they like on TV etc etc etc there is loads of things to choose from. We bought supplies for breakfast and lunches from the local supermarket which is 15min walk. The bus stop is also nearby to the supermarket. We travelled by bus (easy, clean & cheap) throughout the rest of our stay. (just check timetable ahead) We ate out for tea in Grinstead which was a short bus ride. away. Then back to relax and enjoy the facilities again at Hestkaer Family Rooms. Day two we visited Legoland (brilliant & not crowded), took a packed lunch with us that we'd made up at the family rooms. We stopped off again in the town of Grinstead for pizzas for tea then bus again back to Hestkaer Family Rooms. Day three, checkout at 11am, paid Christian for the bedding and towels and then we enjoyed the facilities again at Hestkaer Family Rooms for the rest of our last day. We used the communal kitchen and dining room on this last day as we were welcome to stay until we left by bus for the airport for a late flight home. Hestkaer Family Rooms is an informal, relaxed hostel which felt safe for our kids to explore and we could easily find them when we were ready to go out. We played pool, air hockey and relaxed with a glass of wine (just remember to buy it from the supermarket) while the kids enjoyed everything. Hestkaer Family Rooms is not a hotel with fluffy bathrobes and chocolate on the pillow but it is an old school that's now being used for families as a great base whilst visiting Denmark. Denmark was lovely and clean and we only met nice people. We recommend Hestkaer Family Rooms and would love to return and explore more of Denmark. Hotel rooms are all right and the hotel is well located on the port front. But the experience with the staff at the check-in was so miserable that I can only give one star because of it. After my booking, I had contacted the hotel in writing about a double bed room and a baby bed. Between was immediately confirmed and assured us. On the site I made a self-check on the computer and there was also a note about baby bed. The room had only two separate single beds and there was no baby bed ready. Then I contacted the reception and I was told that I should push the beds together. That would be the double bed that I was assured. This was an impossible option for us with baby, which once is between us at night. Alternatively, a room upgrade for almost DKK 400 with “right” double bed. And the baby bed should I pay extra per night with 100 DKK, “if any one is available at all”. That everything was written in advance and I had no reference to additional fees was completely ignored. Instead of excuse, I was treated extremely unfriendly and then I had to pay the baby bed extra. A subsequent complaint to the hotel manager was also completely ignored and replied by the same receptionist (Metteliva). I have never had to make such a terrible service experience and therefore no one can recommend the hotel anymore. At last, you pay much more than you get communicated in advance. Other hotels in Denmark were better and friendly over time

A cozy small guesthouse with fun cabins. For our 2 nights everything was there and we felt very well. Our cabin was well heated and absolutely clean. The small bathroom is functional and the shower is good. There is a refrigerator and a water cooker. On the fourth, it is clearly finished, but it is completely enough for 2 nights. We also ordered breakfast buffet, which was possible for little money. Breakfast was very good and rich. Coffee, tea and juice were included. Our stay in Hodde Kro was very beautiful. We recently stayed here on a summer trip to Denmark. The hotel is within easy walk to Legoland Park and The Lego House (although the signage in Billund pointing you to Lego House is a bit confusing and really send you to an off site parking lot). Staff were nice although seemed exhausted and overworked. Summer is busy here and the guests were mostly other families with young children from across all of Europe. Being in the on-site restaurnt for breakfast buffet was loud and the lobby/main area of the hotel was also really loud with kids hyped up running all over. We did not know that this property DID NOT have air conditioning. We were here during a heat wave and the room was like a sauna. The window could only open about an inch. It was stiffiling. The frequent noise of planes arriving/departing Billund Airport was also not great and with that and the heat really kept us up. It was not an enjoyable stay at all. We learned the newer Lego ”Castle Hotel” next door has air conditioning but they had no rooms open for us to switch to. If you need to do laundry you can go to the Lego ”Holiday Village” which is their campground and buy tokens for the wash/dry. The laundry room is behind the store but when I was there the store only had large boxes of laundry detergent in stock. Why wouldn't they stock a smaller size as no one is doing laundry for a month or more on vacation?! Our room was a kingdom room at Hotel Legoland and the theming was great althoug hthe room was a bit dark. I think overall the hotel is overpriced for what you get.

First thing to say, it’s the only hotel in the town and so there’s no competition. Next it feels more like a motel than a hotel with external doors to rooms. When I was there, the WiFi didn’t work in the outside rooms but the staff are helpful and the breakfast was adequate. The room is basically sprayed concrete which has been decorated and is quiet so that was a bonus and was clean. The main reason for the score was broken electrical switches and module on the ceiling of the bathroom. I could consider this to be a safety matter and there is little excuse for this.
