„Great airport hotel with comfortable rooms Stayed here as it’s very close to Kunming Changshui International Airport, which made it super convenient for an early flight. The room was very clean, the bed was really comfortable, and overall it was a great night’s sleep. The staff were friendly and helpful, and check-in was smooth. The only thing to note is that it’s quite far out if you’re planning to visit Kunming Old Town or the city centre, so it’s best suited for airport stays or short stopovers. Breakfast wasn’t too bad, could be better quality of food that’s all. Also had free laundry and use of the gym. Overall, a really good option if you need somewhere comfortable near the airport.”

„We literally walked into a “time travel” place back to ancient house equipped with modern facilities, the host was extremely courteous, friendly and very helpful too, they led and help us with our luggage from where were dropped off by Didi driver the nearest point before the pedestrian street of the ancient town starts. The hotel is located with the ancient town and a short walk from the famous 金馬Square at where modern buzzing commercial centres located in Kunming. Good place to stay for the experience of an ancient “house” with good breakfast, facilities and friendly host.”

„Very nice hotel, with good location. Walking distance to the railway station. The breakfast was really good with a wide variety of Chinese food, cereal, breads and fried food. Definitely the best breakfast I had in china. They also have a robot that sends your food delivery to you, which was cool. The lady at the counter was also very nice and helpful. I didn't have a local phone number so I couldn't order food delivery, so she helped to order the food using her phone. And somehow I couldn't transfer so I had to use cash, but she didn't have any change so she paid the extra 2.80yuan. Really appreciate their service, top notch.”

„Both of us are extremely satisfied staying Im this hotel. The resapan for giving the hotel 10/10 are: - Efficient customer service, the senior lady as well as the younger staff at the counter are very alert and responsive. I would say the young senior staff with short hair is a gem to the hotel management team. She's kind, caring and hospitable. - The Hotel is strategically located near to the Kunming Railway Station as well as to FuDe Subway station. Moving around in Kunming city is so convenient. - Just next to the hotel is the Shuangqiao Night Market. It's the largest night market in Kunming. We enjoyed the variety of food served in the market. - Although the night market operates till 3am, the rooms remain quiet and peaceful to sleep in because the Hotel has double layered glass windows to block out the noise from outside . - The breakfast I served is also delicious : local noodles and wantons served in three types of soup - plain chicken broth, sour and spicy or Mala taste. Also had friendly & helpful staff who brought our luggages up to our room (as theres no lift) and also brought it all the way to the place where our didi was picking us up from. „We got upgraded to suite with one bedroom for free! Could never imagine we will get this experience. The room was so big and comfortable for family with toddler. My kid was happily running around here and there playing with her toys because of the huge space. The location was nearby Shuncheng Street where we can access the halal foods and also very nearby to the famous Nanping Pedestrian Street. Cleanliness and hospitality was top tier. „We were on a business trip as a team. After checking out the hotel online, we were very impressed upon arrival and decided to book it. The hotel's location is excellent, just about 3 kilometers from Kunming South Station. The surrounding area has great transport links, a subway, and plenty of commercial options. The hotel is located inside Wanda Plaza, and there's a huge pond just 100 meters away with beautiful scenery where you can go boating, and the lights at night are stunning. The front desk staff mentioned that attractions like Dianchi Lake, Laoyu River, and Haiyan Village are only a few kilometers away, and the municipal government and Chinese medicine hospital are right next to the hotel. The room decor is exquisite, the hygiene is top-notch, and the bedding comfort is as high-class as a four-star hotel, featuring independent fan coil units and Arrow brand toilets. We were especially impressed by the front desk lady on duty; she was warm, generous, and provided thoughtful service. She was absolutely beautiful, with rosy cheeks and pearly white teeth! This was a very satisfying stay, and we look forward to our next visit!”

GGośćI stayed on the second highest floor in the very last room, away from the elevator. I appreciate the thought of putting me on a higher floor even though I had not asked for it. However, there were constant angry loud banging coming from next door to my room, and also from above my room, which scared me at night. Aside from that, all the staff told me that the hotel is brand new, so there will be a constant smell of chemical plastic coming from the air conditioner when turned on, which resulted in me coughing and becoming ill near the end of my 7-night stay. Everytime I come back to the room, the plastic smell gets so strong that I had to turn off the A/C and open the door for ventilation. Furthermore, the lady manager came to my room one day, asking me about the encounter I had with their night security guard two nights prior. I told her some of which had happened that was unprofessional. This particular security guard had followed me to where I had bought my dinner one night (bbq goose shop next to hotel), and had asked me a couple strange questions, as in why am I in China and that there must be ulterior motives in my visit to China. The way he asked me rubbed me the wrong way as I didn’t know how else to tell him except that I’m in mainland China to sight-see for the very first time. Nothing else. He seemed under the impression that I was in China for more important reasons and I found it really awkward and impolite as I had already told him my reason, to which he disregarded as untrue. Not a fun nor friendly conversation with a guest of the hotel who is also a foreigner. I get that he may be rusty in conversing with strangers but perhaps hotel managers could help him understand more common etiquettes and tact when interacting with hotel guests from not only China but all over the world. Anyway, the lady manager was very upset towards me after hearing what I had to say about this incident and decidedly undermined my words by eyeing me up and down my attire and conveyed a disdain for my presence, which undoubtedly is the worse thing you can do to a hotel guest when confronted by one of the more negative experience shared. She not only disagreed with what I had shared and that I should forgive the night guard as he is older and doesn’t know how to converse with people very well. I said all is fine. I only shared this information as she had gone up to my room to ask me about what had happened with this night guard. Oh and by the way, on that same night, after I bought my goose dinner and had eaten it, I was followed by the same night guard after throwing my garbage near the elevator on my floor, as he instructed me to do so prior at the goose shop. So he was literally waiting the whole time for me to come out of my room to throw my garbage! That encounter was so creepy and scary, that I recalled having goosebump when I ran back to my room for safety, all the while him following me from behind… Overall, the lady manager with her proud, egocentric nature is really unappreciated and unsightly. I am now left with the idea that as a Canadian Chinese, I will be treated as such while staying at mainland China hotels. This entire hotel experience left me with feelings of outcasted, prejudiced and treated less than what a normal hotel guest should be treated.

OOzb00mHighly recommended for short stay near Kunming airport. For the price I paid, the CP is very high. Location is great, many hotels in the same area hence there are many shops and restaurants to choose from. Though its lobby area and carpet in common area is showing its age a little bit, the room I stayed in is impeccably clean, modern and comfortable. Room size is big, has view, bathroom is also big and water pressure is great. Only inconvenience is the lobby is not reachable directly by car, you will need to go down a few short steps to reach it. It is a small inconvenience considering it is a great value.

Instead of spending the night waiting uncomfortably in the airport during an overnight transit, we were able to get proper rest. The bed was very comfortable, and we enjoyed a deep and restful sleep. The room size is adequate, especially considering the hotel is located within the airport. The location is extremely convenient—simply take the elevator to the second floor after exiting the arrival hall. A thoughtful touch was the complimentary snacks and fresh fruit served with a tea set, which made the stay feel especially welcoming. Although the staff do not speak English, they are very kind, polite, and helpful, which greatly enhanced the overall experience.

AAllbymycel10/10 will book this hotel again in Kunming!! The location is right smack in the city centre, easy to get around to Nanpibg street by foot (10 mins walk), shuncheng shopping mall. A lot of eateries nearby, no need to worry about it. The hospitality of the staff is also amazing as well, making our stay unforgettable.

GGośćThe swimming pool is a great fun.. Perfect place for a short holiday. What impressed me the most is the cleaning lady. I hang my daughter’s swimming clothes at the balcony and couldn’t find it. I called to check if it fell to the room downstairs. The cleaning lady came to help.. when she finished work.. she dropped by to check:. And when she realized that I still couldn’t find it. She immediately asked for my daughter’s size and ordered for me.. when she delivered... I gave her money.. but she left it on the table. I didn’t see her again. she was so kind.

KKevin and ZuzannaNote on Hotel Name: This property appears under multiple names across platforms—Hyatt, Imperial Palace, Ritz—though officially branded Grand Mercure. Reception Chaos and The Window Saga Check-in was rushed and incomplete—no luggage assistance, no WeChat information, no translation tools. The real problems began when I reported my window wouldn't close. With one receptionist managing everything, guests competed for attention in survival-of-the-rudest fashion. She'd abandon helping me whenever someone else interrupted, forcing me to wait while she handled whoever was most insistent. Hours of frustration followed. The maintenance worker actually said it ”wasn't really a problem” since ”most windows are like that in the hotel”—an alarming admission. After being dismissed and deprioritized repeatedly, I finally got another room. This one had a working window but noisy neighbors and poor soundproofing that broadcast every car horn. They sent an apology fruit platter—genuinely the best I've received in China, beautifully arranged. But fruit platters require far less investment than proper staff training, adequate staffing, or basic maintenance. The Bright Spots: Room and Breakfast The stylish room with warm atmosphere and spacious layout was genuinely nice, though the window view wasn't appealing. The bed was acceptable. The breakfast team was easily the best part of this hotel—truly professional unlike virtually everyone else. Day one featured fantastic food, skilled preparation, and competent service that stood in stark contrast to other departments. Even when choices declined on days two and three (less refilling, fewer Western options), the cooking team remained the most professional staff I encountered. They also shut down before 1:30 PM despite posted hours. Housekeeping Failures During housekeeping, I left my robe and towels out to be changed—they were clearly used and wet, obviously needing replacement. They didn't change them—they folded them and left them. I had to ask them to replace items like shower gel, basically had to tell them everything. They also moved my pile of dirty clothes for some reason and mixed it with clean clothes, putting everything on a chair. Maybe these staff should respect personal space and belongings? One housekeeping staff member in the morning delivered mineral water but was impatient and unfriendly. Infrastructure Issues This aging property needs renovation. The hotel is pretty old—windows not closing, minor things not working or getting detached from walls. Water temperature in the shower fluctuated wildly, giving you burning water on your face when you don't expect it. Shower pressure from the handle was pretty good, but not sure what the top running shower is for—low pressure, useless. Elevators were very slow. I ordered coffee—it was delivered to reception but they didn't call or message me and didn't use the robot to deliver to my room. I went downstairs at some point and took it. No explanation, no apology. Final Verdict Two genuine strengths: stylish rooms and a professional breakfast team that understood hospitality. This only highlighted how dysfunctional everything else was. The chaotic reception, incompetent housekeeping, dangerous infrastructure, and absent service standards make this hard to recommend—despite nice rooms and excellent breakfast staff. Would I return? No. Would I recommend? Only if everywhere else was fully booked.

DDiana AldereiWe recently stayed at this hotel with my husband and had quite a mixed experience – some parts were truly lovely, while others left us a bit disappointed. First of all, the villa itself was absolutely beautiful and incredibly spacious. The natural hot spring water was one of the highlights of our stay — such a relaxing and unique experience. The surrounding territory is also well-maintained and very peaceful, perfect for disconnecting and enjoying nature. However, it’s important to note that the location is quite remote — it took us around an hour to get to places where we could eat or enjoy a cup of coffee. This is understandable considering the mountain setting and access to hot springs. The afternoon tea was decent, and although lunch wasn’t included in our stay, we tried the local mixian noodles and they were absolutely delicious! Must try! Unfortunately, breakfast was disappointing, especially for guests like us who don’t eat pork or pork oil - there were very few options. A few maintenance and cleanliness issues also affected our stay. The outdoor pool was not super clean, some insects were swimming there. While we really loved the hot spring bathtub in the villa, the facilities could use a bit more upkeep. The toilet setup was quite basic — a minimum upgrade like a bidet spray or shower toilet would make a big difference, especially for international or Muslim guests. A more distressing part of our stay was that we found dead insects under the blanket in our bed after returning to our room one evening 🥲 I do appreciate the staff’s polite and kind response – they offered tea and explained it may have fallen from the ceiling – but for someone with a strong phobia of insects, this made it difficult to sleep and really affected my comfort. I do believe this is something that should be taken more seriously, especially in a hotel of this level. Despite these issues, the staff was very polite, cute and extremely helpful & friendly, and I can see the potential for a truly magical experience here with just a few improvements. I really wanted to love everything — and part of me did — but I was also happy to go back home, just to feel more comfortable and relaxed.

GGośćPodczas meldowania się uśmiech Rebeki w recepcji był ciepły i przyjazny. Proces meldowania był niezwykle szybki i prawie nie musiałem czekać. Byłem także pod wrażeniem ciepłych powitań, jakie przekazał mi Xiao Deng, zastępca kierownika lobby, podczas wymeldowania. Kiedy wjechałem windą do swojego pokoju, zauważyłem, że wnętrze windy było równie luksusowe. Połączenie luster i metalu nadało pomieszczeniu nowoczesny i elegancki wygląd. Pokoje są przestronne i jasne, urządzone luksusowo i gustownie. Ogromne łóżko przykryte najdelikatniejszą pościelą i kołdrą. Gdy się położysz, nie będziesz chciał już wstać. Obsługa hotelowa jest nienaganna. Niezależnie od tego, czy jest to obsługa pokoju, czy catering, każdy pracownik wykazał się niezwykle wysokim poziomem. Profesjonalizm i entuzjastyczne podejście do obsługi. Szczególnie podobała mi się kolacja w hotelowej restauracji, gdzie jedzenie nie tylko wspaniale smakowało, ale było również pięknie podane niczym dzieło sztuki. Śniadanie jest bogate i różnorodne, niezależnie od tego, czy są to specjały kuchni zachodniej, czy lokalne, może zaspokoić potrzeby różnych gości. Ponadto hotel zapewnia również bogatą bazę rekreacyjną, m.in. centrum fitness, SPA, kryty basen itp. Każda usługa sprawia mi radość fizyczną i psychiczną.

VVicveronThe hotel is beautifully designed, and the rooms are clean, comfortable, and well-equipped with everything you need. I really appreciated the little touches — they even provided fresh fruits and mooncakes since it was close to Mid-Autumn Festival! The staff were super friendly and attentive. There’s always someone at the door to help, and they even assisted with carrying our luggage straight to the room to make sure everything went smoothly. As a sweet gesture, they gifted us a mooncake when we checked out — such a thoughtful touch that made our stay extra memorable.

GGośćMinus one point for cleanliness as I was in a smoker's room - as a non-smoking person the smell was bothering me. Other than that everything was great! Various breakfast options, many restaurants right next to the hotel, free laundromat. I had a problem finding it but it is literally right next to Vienna Hotel. 5min walk from Kunming station.
