"My family of 4 just spent 8 nights here as part of our vacation in France. We had the entire barn to ourselves, including a private spa. The barn is three bedrooms, each with toilet and shower, an adjacent room to the three bedrooms with an extra toilet. And then you have the large common room. You either rent the whole barn, or a room. The common room has a dining area, large kitchen, a tv area and a small reception area. The bedrooms. I have absolutely nothing negative to point out here. Each have their own design, but the rooms are all designwise well connected. It's functional. It's beautiful. These rooms are very very nice. Everything here has been handpicked. Someone even went out of their way to add a velcro closure, so you could connect the curtain covering the terrasse door to the wall. So you could more effeciently block out the sunlight. Each room has a tv, and you can easlily connect your device to watch Netflix or something. But what am I talking about; you don't wanna watch Netflix. You want to go to the pool. The pool. Works just fine. Large enough. They even have pool toys that you can use. Not sure where I want to go here, but it worked for us at that time. The common room. The kitchen and the dining area works perfectly. The kitchen has everything you need, including a nice coffee machine. Now, you could arrive at a place that is complete peeled of everything. But not here. We were invited to use the common items that you find in a kitchen. Coffee, tea, sugar, spices and so on. I know that I payed for it (at some level), but I didn't expect these items to be available. So I thought it was a nice gesture. The host. The couple that runs the place are very nice and caring. An example of this. We were headed out to visit the Chambord castle. Outside the house we have a quick chat with one of the hosts. The host sends us well on our way, but before we leave the grounds, the host stops us (we are in the car now) and gives us further tips for our trip. The host didn't have to do this. We had already been sent well of on our way, but the host went out of her way to give us something extra. Nice. What I missed. Now don't get me wrong. This place is great. It's a very nice retreat. This is me nitpicking. Two things. No. 1. The floor in the common room is bare concrete (or something similar to that effect). That's very practical when the common room serves as a buffet kitchen when you've rented out three rooms, but I would prefer another solution. No. 2. I am missing a large comfortable couch, or comfortable resting chairs in the common room. You've got a nice tv, but the seating arrangement is not good. Watch two episides of The Office, and hit the jacuzzi. Or you could curl up together in one of the beds in one of the rooms, and watch your show there in stead. That's your solution. But when you want to sit down and relax together as a famliy after a 12000 step day to a town and a castle, you've only got the dining chairs."

We took 3 hours without hurry to check the city. Hotel recommends!"

"I just left this hotel and I absolutely have to share my experience: I woke up to a spider crawling on my shoulder, turned on the light and found 10 more ready to descend on the bed. Room on the top floor with exposed beams that no one has cleaned in years. I had a nightmare night. Room on the second floor with no elevator so if you have joint problems, forget it, very steep stairs. Basic breakfast with 4 items thrown together. I understand why it's a 2-star... forget it!"

"I think if you look closely at the reviews as one would closely at the rooms you would agree that something is amiss. I agree from afar it is beautiful, but. So when we arrived no one was there - no code delivered and after numerous calls and messages we gained entrance (about 30 – 45 minutes of waiting in the car wondering where we were going to spend the night – and no you can’t say this is on my – you are selling a hotel room at the end of the day have a system). The receptionist/manager that met us was very pleasant and friendly – only reason why a few stars at all. As others have said, the estate is completely run down, significant water damage everywhere (mold?) and material structural damage throughout (oh my on on wall there are five to six windows missing entirely and open to the elements). All the rooms are clean on their face but look closer and it is scary. As mentioned elsewhere everything is in dis-repair. A shame as from afar this place is amazing and has loads of potential. The owners (who apparently live there in some fashion) showed up later in the evening and treated us with disdain and did not even acknowledge our hello. The pool was half full and the water a deep green color quite offsetting - the small playground was rusted and crumbling to the ground, the grand dining room (for Brekkie) was dark, dusty and not very clean - i saw into the kitchen and it looked like a hurricane went through it. That translates across to the entire property - we even snuck a look into the loft rooms (which were unkempt, disgusting and looked as if squatters liver there and the main living space with a huge snooker table covered in boxed felt as if its grandeur disappeared around 1970). The other couple we were with thought it was a grand experiment of the old bourgeoisie and delighted in the unique aspect of staying in a run-down chateau. I was looking for a relaxing night’s sleep, which I did not get (to afraid of how unclean it all felt) and could not get out of there quickly enough at 5am (luckily they gave us the gate code to escape)."
