"Great rooms and breakfast, but let down by poor service The room was comfortable and spacious, the breakfast was amazing, and the staff seemed friendly at first – but unfortunately, a few issues really let the stay down. One of our party was given a room with a broken toilet that wouldn't flush, and the hotel refused to send anyone to fix it. Worse still, we'd booked a coach through the hotel to take our group to a wedding venue, but the driver abruptly refused to take any luggage, leaving half of us to scramble for taxis while the bus left with only some of the group. The hotel offered no help with alternatives, and the driver was downright rude. On a positive note, you can get a great-value discount for the leisure centre, gym, and pool next door – but given the service failures, I'd think twice before booking here for an event."

"As someone who travels all over Ireland with work, staying in hotels, guest houses etc every week, Glen Gat b&b is up there with some of the nicest places that I stay in. Its an example of good old fashioned Irish homely welcome and service. Helena and her staff are brilliant and it's obvious that they care about their service and they've a real commitment to applying this service. The rooms are really nice, and clean and well serviced. Breakfast is fresh and to order. When we are in the louth area, we prefer to stay in Glen Gat than other hotels. Its like visiting friends. I would have no hesitation in recommending Glen Gat b&b as you base to travel. Well done to all."

"The restaurant and living room on the first floor of the public area are not bad. The decoration in the room is too bad. It is very old and outdated. There are two faucets in the sink, one is cold water and the other is boiling water. There is no warm water to use; The water heater is still a pull rope switch, and you need to pull the rope outside the glass door to open/close; the mattress is also very old, the middle is a bit collapsed, and the quilt is also very old. The room is facing the street, and the car is a bit noisy at night."
