Astoria Hotel Heimbach

"This isn’t what the vast majority of people would consider a hotel. It has no staff at all on site other than those who likely clean rooms as quickly as they can and make their getaway. After booking the accommodation and having payment immediately taken, I arrived at 9pm on a midweek night into find the place looking completely abandoned with no signs of life from within the property at all. On approaching the front door there is a notice advising to call an international number to speak with someone. After trying that I just reached voicemail. Being somewhat concerned as there appeared to be no other hotels with vacancies anywhere nearby. A young family with two children also were having issues and could not gain any reply from the phone number either. After being now very disillusioned and not expecting some AirBNB type of situation, I started to try to find something else without much luck at all. Just as I was about the give up and fall asleep in the car for a couple of hours I then checked my junk emails and found a convoluted email giving me instructions to hunt the treasure of a key for a room and a code to retrieve the key. After then finding the key and making my way inside it was awful to discover the completely soulless interior with the main reception area looking frozen in time with no signs of life at all. The room was average, and that’s being polite. It was quite annoying that the owner of this property can advertise as a hotel when there are no staff at all based at this venue at any likely check in time. And having to call a foreign number and getting a blank really leaves a bad taste. This should not be allowed and I will be chasing this up with the accommodation source. Losing nearly two hours due to trying to find alternate accommodations and having time wasted is also a low point. Do not waste your money or time on this sham of a so called hotel."

"Spędziłem tam kilka dni i był bardzo zadowolony z przyjaznego personelu i bardzo czystego (!!) i dużego nowoczesnego pokoju z balkonem. Jedyną rzeczą, która była "dodatkowa" była indywidualne dni odpoczynku lub różne godziny początkowego śniadania/ gorące oferty kuchni w różnych dniach tygodnia. Chciałem tam jeść na wieczór, Był, jak wspomniano powyżej, Niestety możliwość ciepłej kuchni tylko w 14.00 godzina na lunch. Myślę jednak, że to jest z powodu - jak widzisz teraz wszędzie - niedoboru personelu. Jednak śniadanie było bardzo dobre i wystarczające. Parking jest bardzo dobrze rozwiązany, który może być bezpośrednio powiązany z sprzedażą biletów zakładu stoczniowego za € 3.50/day z opcją mobilnego w/out-course z parkingu. Hotel jest bardzo dobry do wykonania różnych spacerów/wizytów w okolicy. Położenie jest pięknie ciche i do centrum miasta jest tylko około 5 minut jazdy. Wniosek: W sumie można z pewnością polecić ten hotel."

"I've been hit by this accommodation in search of a quiet place with my dog to escape the Sylvester Krach. I don't want to judge the Retro Charme here, this can look nice if everything is clean and ordened!! Now I checked in here, the reception was very friendly but then it came to wake up when we came back from the restaurant. See pictures! Say more than a thousand words. Will leave today!!"
