"The room offered a direct view of Mount Fuji, and it was quite spacious. Both breakfast and dinner were excellent, and the service was top-notch. However, the biggest issue was a strong, unpleasant curry smell in the room. I asked the front desk to switch rooms, but the new one also had the same curry odor. There seem to be a lot of South Asian guests here; I noticed many during check-in. I suspect they might have cooked something in the rooms, and the smell just won't go away. I hope future guests don't get unlucky and end up with one of these rooms when they check in."

"The hot springs were very nice, and the food was delicious. The facilities are old, but I suppose that can't be helped; they'll have to be completely renovated or rebuilt. The musty smell everywhere was a real problem. However, what's really disappointing is the lack of consideration for the guests. Two typhoons were predicted, so the day before my stay I called and asked if I could change my dates. Not a cancellation, but a change. They told me that they couldn't do it now because they had already started preparations. I was disappointed, but I went out in the heavy rain. That night the rain got heavier, and the next day I received an email from the inn in Izu Kogen that I had booked, saying, "Please don't push yourself, and we won't charge you a cancellation fee this time because of the circumstances." I think that was a sincere response that considered the guest's perspective. The next morning, when I checked out and told them about the response from the inn in Izu Kogen, they said that other guests didn't cancel, but I don't think that's a valid reason. I wasn't keen on going. Also, the innkeeper said that this amount of rain would be fine, but I'm not a local, so I don't know that. I drove there, and I was worried because I had read on the news that there was a possibility of road closures. I was given a 5000 yen refund, but I don't think that was the right thing to do. I booked through Jalan, but for some reason it was treated as a cancellation after check-out. I would like the feelings of the customers to be respected."

Dinner was luxurious and delicious, with spiny lobster, red sea bream, abalone grilled and funamori. The rice cooked with cherry shrimp at the end had a nice aroma and was very good. You can choose from three types of dried fish for breakfast, and you can also enjoy piping hot miso soup with spiny lobster. The customer service of the staff was also very polite and nice. The large public bath and open-air bath with a view are located on the 5th floor, and you can enjoy them while relaxing. "Overall, I'm quite satisfied. There were many thoughtful touches that I appreciated. For instance, the receptionist took the time to explain all the hotel's amenities one by one. Secondly, there was complimentary tea available, and before dinner, some Oden-like snacks were offered. In the morning, you could pick up free milk (two flavors: plain milk and coffee milk, both delicious). At certain times, you could also get free Yakult at a designated spot. The hotel has both indoor and outdoor onsen (hot springs), so you can choose whichever you prefer. To be honest, the room itself was just so-so. However, the cleanliness was good. You take off your shoes when you enter the hotel and wear hotel slippers throughout. In the room, you walk barefoot. The toilet and shower in the room were separate but very small. But in Japan, if you want large and good separate areas, the price would be much higher."

"Even though traveling solo felt a bit lonely, the overall experience exceeded my expectations – it was absolutely perfect. Everything from the ambiance and facilities to the service and food was impeccable. It's clear why this 150-year-old onsen ryokan has such an allure; I now understand why literary greats like Ryūnosuke Akutagawa and Yasunari Kawabata chose to stay here. They have four public baths, each with its own unique charm, and they rotate access between men and women at different times. If you plan it right, you can experience all four even with just an overnight stay. Dinner was a kaiseki meal served in my room between 6:00 PM and 8:00 PM. The food was good, but the pace was very slow, and I actually started to feel sleepy towards the end. The paper hotpot tofu for breakfast was a unique and delightful touch. A taxi from Shuzenji Station took about five minutes and cost less than 100 RMB. I truly hope to have the chance to stay here again in the future."

"We stayed here for our first family trip in a long time. We were shocked by the huge difference between our expectations, based on the photos and reviews, and our experience. Here are the disappointing points: ① There were more than 10 stink bugs in the room. We called the front desk and they came to exterminate them, but ultimately we ended up removing them all ourselves. It was hellish because they kept reappearing no matter how many we removed. The hotel staff seemed to think it was normal and even laughed about it. They were definitely there while we slept, and the room smelled strongly of stink bugs. ② Continuing with the insect story, there were insects everywhere, even outside the room—in the hallways, elevator, and stairs. Spiders, crickets? And all sorts of other insects. It's best not to look at the walls. ③ The food was absolutely terrible.
