This used to be our favorite summer spot. We'd return at least once a year, for perhaps 4-5 years in a row. However, we hadn't been back for quite a long time. This is what I learned on our most recent visit: The hotel room (I think we had a ”Hollywood Standard Twin) was quite spacious. The beds were large and comfortable, and there is a nice-sized balcony with a generous ocean view. I see some other reviews on Tripadvisor calling the rooms ”old and smelly” -- this has never, ever been my experience, not once. The room seemed exactly as it was over 10 years ago, but that's fine. The colors are soft, muted ”beach” colors and we were very comfortable. On our first night we ate at the ”Melesea” restaurant, which serves French cuisine. We chose the ”Demi portion” course, which was about 9,000 yen (about $62USD with today's exchange rate). We chose it because it wasn't as high priced as some of the other course meals and the portion sizes sounded right for us. There is no question that the ”Demi portion” course was one of the best I've ever had in my life. The chef (Mr. Ohki) is obviously a professional who really understands how to bring out the delicate flavors of any dish, and he is a master at preparing sauces. Everything that was served was outstanding. No, we didn't want to pay that much money per person, but ultimately we made the right choice. We both were extremely impressed. The above two things, plus generally good weather, added up to a good experience. Here, though, are things that you should be aware of: This is essentially a family hotel. That means if you are coming here for peace and quiet, and you make the mistake of coming on a weekend or a national holiday, you can expect lots of screaming children running with abandon down the hallways and fussing in the restaurants and everywhere else. Japanese parents tend to indulge and spoil their little ones. And forget about using the pool, since that's where parents will be staked out the first thing in the morning. If you are a parent, you might find this to be the perfect hotel. If you aren't, and you do not enjoy the boundless energy and noise of children, you will be sorry you booked a room here. So, think carefully about the dates you arrive and leave. As for prices: Although you can get a ”Tokyu Hotel” member card, and although you can find online promotions, the way the hotel makes its money is through its dinners. You are going to pay a lot for them, although there is effort put into them, so, you do feel you are having an ”experience.” But they do not come cheaply. Also, if you don't book your room with breakfast, expect to pay ¥2900 for a ”buffet breakfast.” If you are Japanese, you will love this breakfast; if not, you will find an adequate selection of items for a Western breakfast. But what if you want to go ”out to eat” at night, instead of paying between 10-20,000 yen for a meal? Good luck. Unless you have your own car (and I'd say about 90% of the customers

Good food and service

You can take a bus to Izu-Kogen Station. There is a hotel shuttle bus in the parking lot. There are no special signs. Although the distance is one kilometer, it is all on hills. Fortunately, we have a car. The hotel room is large and the environment is beautiful. Outside the window is the sea. Dinner in the hotel needs to be booked in advance, and it was too late to make a reservation when we arrived. Dinner is purely Japanese style. The hotel can provide you with the names and phone numbers of nearby hotels. Even the prices in surrounding restaurants are relatively high. This private hot spring has a 24-hour continuous cycle and maintains a constant temperature of 41 degrees. In addition, the hotel also provided socks for wearing clogs. I tried them on but I still wasn't used to them. There are two places on the first floor of the hotel that provide unlimited free drinks, cookies, chocolates, etc. Free dandan noodles in the third floor restaurant. Breakfast is good and cheap.

The refrigerator in the room was large, the freezer functioned properly, and it was important to cool various things. [A little more] I was worried about the dirt of the window. I thought I could clean it easily with water and scrapers, so I wanted to clean it so that I could enjoy the ocean view. The dishes are not available or not except abalone. I was expecting the sea, but the sashimi was made to feel the level of three points that were sold cheaply in the supermarket. It seems that it just opened in April 2022, and it is a beautiful building. Lobby was very large, too, and sofa and table were still there. It's like a hotel in a foreign country. I've never been there, but I thought it was like Hawaii. It was good that the time of sunrise and sunset was written on the front desk. The next day I was able to get up at that time and see the sunrise. The left side of the veranda of the room is the east. All rooms are ocean view, and you can overlook the sea of Izu. Great Pacific! ! ! The sea is quite close and you can always hear the sound of waves. If the weather is clear, you can also see the seven islands of Izu. It's interesting to guess what island that is while looking at the map. Amenity is only a toothbrush in the room. Other than that, please bring it from the front desk when you check in. I didn't really know what was there, so I got everything for the time being (lol) The pool is timed. Put in for an hour and a half. The water was quite cold, so I was grateful to receive a bath towel. I went in the evening and felt a little cold. I didn't swim there, but it's about 25 meters long. The scenery is just wonderful. Sunset, sea, sunset... I could stand by the pool all the time. I returned with the sunset, but the night pool was beautiful at night. It was lit up. You can see the pool from the room. Dinner is a buffet. You can choose from 6:00 to 7:30 or 7:30 to 9:00. It was delicious as usual, and I was satisfied with the number of items. It was full of seafood such as sashimi, grilled shrimp, grilled turban shell in Burgundy, and sushi. I don't know how many pieces of sashimi I ate (laughs) Of course, there are also meat dishes such as roast beef and rafute. Sweets were also substantial, and I could eat as much as I could, such as cakes and brulee. I felt that the T-bag type herbal tea was rare. I drank wild berries and African nectar. I prefer the latter. As for fruit, the melon was sweet and the best. It would have been nice to have breakfast as well. I enjoyed it for an hour and a half, but the guests with children returned to their rooms. I think there were meals that children could eat, such as gratin, shrimp chili, and seafood curry, but it's strange. It was surprising that we were the only ones who stayed until the closing time. Breakfast is also a buffet. Same as the day before, I'm satisfied. Of particular note are the mushroom omelet rice and orange French toast. It is said to be a specialty of Izu. I replaced it several times. I ate a lot of sweets for breakfast as well. The yam compote is impressive. I used the open-air bath twice, one at night and one in the morning. A bathing fee of 150 yen will be charged at check-out, so the more you enter, the more you will get. With an ocean view, I felt like I was soaking in the sea. Feels like an infinity pool. Finally, about transportation. It is safer not to walk from the station. There are many slopes and you will be tired. I am very grateful for the free pick-up service, but I wish it was on time. Is there only one car? We booked the transfer from the train station to the hotel in advance. However, he didn't come to the station when the time came, and when I called him, he was told that he was on his way. Hotel → station transfer told the front desk the departure time on the night of the first day. However, when it was time to leave, the car was nowhere to be found, and the driver would be there in five minutes. It was time for the train, so I was quite confused. The driver was a pro, so I'm glad I made it in time. I was blessed with friends who accompanied me, and it was a fun trip. The hotel was also good overall.

Best time ever while i stay in Japanese-style Room with open-air Bath (No.608) which i booked via Japanican.com. Shuttle service, staff, amenities, room and food was really great. Impressive outdoor onsen in room with sea view, huge and delicious breakfast and dinner with service from Obachan made me feel like going back home and having meal made by mom.

This hot spring hotel is the one that I and my friends agree that the meals are the most careful and the best. Ise Sea always has steaming, sashimi, and simmering, each of which is amazing! Burning is another order, 3300 yen per one, which is more cost-effective than in Tokyo. Breakfast is lobster miso soup, full of sincerity. The room is very wide, with a large sea-view balcony, facing the whole sea, I feel very relaxed and happy. The quality of Tangquan is clean and good. For those of us who don't sleep well or slept late, we went to bed early at 10 o'clock on the day of check-in. The service really reflects the value of traditional Japanese service. It is very careful and keeps a comfortable distance, which makes people very relaxing and pleasant. For those who like billiards and singing, this hotel is equipped with related facilities, so you don’t have to be bored at night. If you want to have a late night snack, the vending machine has instant noodles, and you are not afraid that there is no convenience store nearby and you will be hungry. On the day of check-in, there is a pick-up at the station. The car is about 7-10 people on the big platform. It is completely effortless to arrive at the hotel. Trip.com can assist with the reservation, and you are not afraid of language barriers. In short, it was a very happy experience, and I would still choose this one when I come to Izu soup.

I dont usually write about the places I stayed to but I just thought this one deserve a review.. also to help others who is thinking of booking this villa but having second thought just like me since it doesnt provide much photos. Im a kind of person who gather information first before making decision... with this one i cant get that much info or review but book it anyway since it is only for a 1 night stay.. so we stayed there for a night and i must say my family and I loves the room we stayed too. aside from the clean room, the man who assist us was really nice up until we check out and waited until we go.. wave goodbye at us and my kids wave back to him and they were smiling... felt like u just went to a family vacation house and a family is waving bye at u saying see u soon... but anyway this is my review... dont get discourage by the apperance of the outside & the lobby it may not look fancy but for us it looks fine I provided some photos... anyway when we get to the room I was amazed because its very clean and spacious it felt like it is more than what I paid for. I didnt expect too much because I know I chose the cheapest place that I can book since we just need a place to rest after beach and before a long drive the next day but it exceeded my expectation... their very generous with their amenities they have instant coffee and electric kettle, theres also a fridge where you can put your food, with us what we did is we already brought some food so we dont need to buy outside after beach because there is no restaurant close to the villa but if u didn’t brought food there is a close convenient store at shirahama beach where you can buy food and bring it at the villa they have table and couch too inside the room... oh I love the shampoo and conditioner the brand is shisheido (so generous) the bottles were big that even you stay for a week it will be enough they provide shaver, toothbrush and toothpaste too and the towels are white/clean... I love everything about this place the only negative thing I can say is that the top part of the shower curtain has little mold but we didn’t mind since the shower curtain is clean just only the top part maybe because its not new but like i said we didnt mind, because bathroom is so clean... Were planning to go back shimoda again next year since 1 day is not enough to explore it and we will definitely book this place again... thanks again to the man who assisted us. He is so nice...
