"Stopped in for a bite to eat & was not disappointed. It’s a lovely place with friendly staff & fantastic food but be warned the portion size is very generous, reasonably priced would definitely recommend."

"Left at 7am after worst night stay possible. Checked in at 9pm, room was dirty (cobwebs everywhere, used toiletry products, coffee mugs had stains in the them), the room was all on a slant so the bed felt like we was rolling to one side & half of the lights didn’t work/bulbs gone. We didn’t use the shower facilities as the whole bathroom was in dire condition. We would’ve gone downstairs to raise this with the hosts but it was not a welcoming environment. The room was directly above the bar, on a Wednesday evening they decided to have a ‘lock in’ loud music continued until 12:30am and only stopped after I had to go downstairs to say something. We hardly slept a wink! Sleeping fully clothed on top of bed upon fear of catching anything from the bedding."

We love our suite with the "Thoughtful Drawer", bathrobes and delicious breakfast spread. Bonus is also its convenient location to train and bus stations for day trip to Lake District as well as walking distance to village squares with quaint local-owned artisanal shops, markets, and diners. Our hosts were exceptionally welcoming and friendly, providing engaging conversation as well as helpful local recommendations. Everything was clearly explained upon arrival, making the entire experience smooth and effortless from the very beginning. Breakfast was both delicious and generous in portion. Additionally, there is a charming village pub just a short walk away — The Boot & Shoe Inn — which added to the experience.
