No. 16 of Vacation Homes in Pingyao Ancient City„This is without doubt the ideal place to stay in Pingyao Gucheng. It is located pretty much equidistant from the 4 gate towers - smack in the middle of the ancient town. It is right at the edge of the no-car zone (which is approximately the Southern half of the Gucheng), and this means that the hotel's car can drop you off right at the hotel's gate, and there is no need to roll your luggage down a street or transfer from car to electric cart. The Gucheng's main street is 5 minutes' walk away, easy access to all the restaurants, shops and main attractions. The hotel oozes old world charm, yet is up-to-date with modern amenities like heating in both room and bathroom, comfortable beds, key cards, etc. Hygiene and service were impeccable. The driver picked us up from and dropped us back at the high-speed train station on time, front desk staff checked on our needs all the time, helped with our bags (driver calling ahead before arriving), gave us daily fruit platters and water, etc. We had a fantastic time, and felt more taken care of than anywhere else on this month-long trip in China. Definitely recommend this hotel.”

„The accommodation is absolutely beautiful, with very nice details. They also left us some sweets and tea as a welcome gift, and every day they gave us a large bottle of water. The only thing I didn’t like is that during the day people come to take photos at the property, and there is quite a lot of noise until almost 10pm. Sometimes it can be annoying to hear people taking photos right outside your room. Apart from that, the accommodation is great.”

The hotel seems very new, the rooms are very comfortable and, of course, very clean. The breakfast is great and varied (even for a European who eats sweets in the morning 😅). And most importantly, the staff. I arrived in the evening, and two young women checked me in. They were extremely friendly and gave me advice on where to eat and what to see in the city. Thank you for introducing me to Pingyao and for representing your hotel. I interacted with many Chinese people during my trip, but never on such a high level. Thank you to the team at the Mercure de Pingyao and a big thanks to Xiao Wang 小王 and Xiao Cheng 小程 for your hospitality and kindness.”

First of all, the most sensational thing is the cleanliness. From the hall, corridors to the details of the room, they are maintained very clean, and there is no common pungent smell of new decoration, which is quite a plus. Although the room space is not particularly large, the dynamic line planning is comfortable, and the equipment configuration is also very practical. There will be a simple and elegant feeling of relaxation without oppression.
The bed support is good, the sound insulation performance is better than expected, and there is almost no interference by the corridor or the adjacent room at night, which is very important for people who value sleep quality. The overall non-smoking management of the hotel is also clearly done, and there is no smell of smoke in the public area. This is not easy to stay in China.
The service staff is kind and responds quickly. Although it is not a high-end luxury hotel, the overall details can feel the level of brand management. Plus, not far from the high-speed rail station, it is quite friendly to the mobile community.

Autobus wahadłowy dowozi gości spod wyznaczonej bramy do zajazdu, jednak czekaliśmy na niego ponad 30 minut, co skłoniło mnie do złożenia reklamacji. Pani z recepcji zrehabilitowała się, proponując mi pokój w wyższym standardzie, co jest bardzo miłe. Chciałbym zwrócić uwagę na to, że na dziedzińcu jest wiele schodów ze względu na historyczny charakter budynku, przez co trudno jest dźwigać duże walizki. Dodatkowo, od 10:30 do 23:00 odbywają się sesje fotograficzne. Sugeruję zarezerwować cichą salę w głębi budynku. Poza tym jestem zadowolony z obsługi, a zajazd jest piękny.”

Kang Qian Ji Mansion is located at No. 33, Chang Xiang Street, within the ancient city of Pingyao. It was constructed in 1838 during the reign of Emperor Daoguang of the Qing Dynasty. Currently, it is a county-level cultural heritage site. It was originally the residence of Wang Jin-ting, the manager of the Pingyao Tiancheng Heng Bank’s Hankou branch. Wang Jin-ting (1859–1938), whose full name was Quan Yi and whose courtesy name was Jin-ting, was from the village of Xi Zhang Zhao in Pingyao. In his youth, he worked in the Tiancheng Heng Bank. After the bank’s collapse, he was recommended by Lu Rongting, the governor of Guangdong and Guangxi, to serve as an assistant manager at the Guangxi Bank. In 1924, Wang Jin-ting purchased the residence at No. 33 Chang Xiang Street in Pingyao’s ancient city, which had originally been a government residence. The courtyard’s floor plan features a pair of phoenixes spreading their wings, with the phoenix facing the grain market and its tail extending over the Helaoxian Bridge, symbolizing vitality and auspiciousness.
The courtyard has weathered the passage of time, and with the changes in society, it was acquired by Kang Qian Ji Catering Company in 2025. We uphold the “Deren” principle of the Jin merchants, striving to restore and maintain the original state of the courtyard. The courtyard’s brick carvings of the麒麟 delivering children symbolize the owner’s dedication to preserving the Jin merchant culture and their best wishes for the guests. The wooden carvings of the phoenix and dragon support the pillars, showcasing the courtyard’s grandeur and elegance. Additionally, we have incorporated environmental and humanistic sciences to adopt a modern, luxurious style within the rooms, equipped with smart guest control systems, custom-made bathrooms, and ergonomically designed memory foam bedding and mattresses.
