"We stayed at this hotel for 8 nights on holiday. The hotel is listed as a 3-star hotel, but many facilities (safe, fridge, magnifying mirror, Nespresso machine, two pools, two restaurants, etc.) are more characteristic of 4-star hotels. The same is true for breakfast, which was generous and good. The hotel is located at the outskirts of St. Leu, on a hill that is overlooking a very nice view of the sea, whales included. We had a car and therefore could travel easily, recommended at this location. Ample parking, also near our room which was relatively far from the reception. A lovely garden and pleasant common areas. Our room (Guétali) was large and comfortable, and housekeeping was good. Good beds. The bathroom was large, though it suffered from a shallow sink in which the tap was located too much to the back, something that caused constant water spillage. Service was excellent everywhere throughout our stay, with special thanks to the reception and restaurant staff. We tried to drive to St. Leu for dinner, but a traffic jam and total lack of parking led us to abandon this idea after one try. We consequently ate at the hotel’s Kotémer restaurant (see separate review). A concert of Creole music and dance on one of the evenings was very enjoyable. The most evident weakness of this hotel is the (lack of) wi-fi. While this worked reasonably well at the reception and the restaurants, we had zero reception at our room, on laptop, tablet, and phones. I use a laptop for both work and entertainment, and therefore had to sit at the reception whenever I needed the internet. The phones could be used at the room using mobile data, but this consumed a considerable amount of our monthly allocation. Overall, a very positive experience if one accepts the internet limitation, recommended while staying on Reunion Island."

Clos de la Rivière

"The location is a bit remote, and the ground-floor units only face walls. However, the state of repair was truly disappointing. The sliding door handle kept falling off, the bathroom door couldn't be closed with normal force, and one of the air conditioners was broken. Surprisingly, the host offered no comment or apology."

Hotel le Boucan Canot

"The location is excellent, with Creole architecture, and most importantly, it's surrounded by numerous restaurants, open all week, while other restaurants in other areas are closed on Sundays. I recommend the hotel's airport shuttle service, which costs €90, especially for flights arriving after 8 PM. Taxis in Reunion Island are expensive; the 46km trip from the airport to the hotel cost €160 based on the meter, and we waited half an hour for one. The airport bus costs €5; the bus stop is not far from the hotel, but there are only six or seven buses a day, with the last bus at 8 PM."

"Pracownicy byli bardzo przyjaźni i bardzo czyści, dobrze zorganizowani. Następnego dnia wybraliśmy taksówkę do Roland Garros. Piękny przestronny i czysty samochód. Muzyka była trochę narzucona przez kierowcę haha, ale mam wrażenie, że to tradycja, że l wyspa :)"

"Stayed 2nights and used all of the accommodation available and it ranges from very pleasant to just ok (annexe/garded shed!) but hey we were a large group so it was ok. Norbert that runs it with his family can speak some decent English and this complimented my French despite no on else in our group speaking any french!! Breakfast each day is simple but very pleasant and there’s plenty of it. We had dinner one evening and this was creole chicken with a starter and a dessert, plus a bottle of wine, so no complaints at all………. or you have every facility you need to cater fully for yourself. Norbert and all his family help out in some way and are there if needed for anything and they are lovely and super friendly/helpful! Merci a tous 😎"

"We spent a charming weekend in the freshness of this seasonal rent in Avirons. The room was pleasant and spacious, the well-equipped kitchen and the comfortable terrace to enjoy a luxurious garden. We enjoyed the warm swimming pool with sea view and the visit to John's Creole house. In addition, the location has allowed us to make a nice bike tour at the top of the meeting. Thank you, we will be happy to come back in this accommodation!"
