YHA Wasdale Hall - Hostel ★★

"This is possibly the most picturesque YHA in the UK. The staff are extremely helpful and friendly, for all the walkers out there, there is an abundance of path, walks, hills and mountains with some exceptional views. There are two inns on pretty much opposite ends that are well worn a visit. The hostel is pretty much all original features. For those who want to relax there are several bookshelves of excellent books. Good choice of alcoholic beverages, could do with a decent selection of non-alcoholic beers as well. But that's s minor quibble. Will definitely visit again."

"After climbing the scafell pike, we went straight to this hotel. The staffs were really kind especially to the old man. You can really see the passion in his work . The hotel was amazing because it’s clean and well maintained. They also have a restaurant so you don’t have to go outside to look for a food which is really inconvenient idea for those who are tired from climbing. I guess we tried to book for an uber eats, deliveroo etc but they don’t have it in that area. The food was great and they have a free breakfast as well."

"Piękna lokalizacja z wystarczającym pokój z check in/out jest kłopoty za darmo. Clean and tidy, również został tylko dwa noce jednak nadal miał pokój oczyszczony i ręczniki zmieniły, co było bonus! Całkowicie bardzo przyjemne doświadczenie wrócimy. Cheers P.s Tylko 20 minut jazdy do Scafell Pike."

"Stayed here for one night and got room 6. The bar seemed very quiet when we arrived a Member off staff behind the bar greeted us checked us in and lead us to the main stairs explained where our room was and we were good to go. The place could definitely do with some work and an update but for the price it did the job fine. Could be quite noisy as I could hear talking in the hall way and people outside the pub. But for our stay it was okay. Tea and coffee in room with kettle but no milk."

"Stayed for two nights for an event we were completing. Arrived later than expected but there was not any problem for having dinner, as we could pre-order. Food was very good and the service was great. Rooms were clean and of a high standard, everything you needed. My view from the window was over the beach and was lovely hearing the sea when it was time for bed. Breakfast was also very good and we ordered the night before for the hot items and the time we would like it. Overall a great stay and would recommend"

"Booked an evening meal for Good Friday. Arrived to find hardly anyone in the pub, they told us they had been extremely busy but now was a lull. Warmly welcomed and ordered our food, Memphis chicken, pie,chips and peas and sticky toffee pudding and cheesecake. The food was superb, very tasty and good portions. As we were eating the pub was starting to get busy again with the residents returning from their ventures. A very enjoyable meal with friendly staff."

"Well the hotel Well apartment should i call it was ok clean and tidy and ok for the 2 nights that we were there anyway. 3 bulbs were not working in 2 lamps and the bedroom roof bulb was dim and flickering also the iron wasn't working and the hot water took an age to come from the tap and shower 😳 other than that ok."

"This was our third visit to 1692 As always we had a wonderful stay for three nights. For us this is a perfectly located hotel for a luxury stay when hiking and bagging Wainwright’s in the Western Lakes. We stayed in the Cairn suite again which is just wonderful. Breakfast was superb. The staff are what makes the place, Faith and her team were great, always so helpful and friendly. There’s no better place to stay in this area and is certainly one of the best in the whole of the Lake District. Thank you for another wonderful few days"
