The Black Bull Inn ★★★★

"The restaurant is a really nice space, welcoming and relaxed. However, we visited on a super sunny bank holiday Sunday, yet the staff seemed surprised the pub was busy! Service was not quite as slick as expected, and food was a bit of a let down - many items were over salty and the vegetarian option was unimaginative (just a piece of roast butternut squash, no herbs, species etc). We had to wait for plates to be cleared, and there was similar waiting and confusion at breakfast. I really wanted to love it, but there are issues that, if you're going to boast about rosettes and awards, need sorting."

The Red Lion ★★★

"We stayed here whilst on a walking holiday. The Red Lion has two bedrooms, both on the first floor. One is at the front of the Inn which has a large bedroom with ensuite bathroom and an adjoining very large lounge which was a lovely surprise. The rooms were clean and very comfortable, Breakfast was good and served in the pub. Staff asked for your breakfast choices the previous evening. We stayed on a Sunday evening and the pub had closed at 2100 hrs. We had been told that if we returned after that time to enter through the rear. Might be worth checking out where the door is as when we returned it was pouring with rain and dark so not immediately obvious."

The George and Dragon ★★★

"Booked to stay for one night with hubby and 8 year old son. Meeting up with friends who were staying In the village. Have visited Dent a few times, the first was over 30 years ago and had always wanted to stay in the George and dragon and Dent is a beautful village. On arrival the hotel was shut so couldn’t check in even though it said from 3 on my booking. So we decided to go for a walk which was lovely. Had wanted to book a table for a meal but was told was fully booked. Found a lovely pub not too far away which was amazing called the sportsman’s Inn highly recommend for food and drinks . When we checked in at around 5 the resturant looked empty ? The room was room 3 right at the top of the pub. Room looked nice and clean but a bit dated. Door to bathroom didn’t open properly and had no lock. Didn’t sleep well at all. Every-time you moved the bed creaked so would keep us awake and was not very comfy. Maybe time to get new beds and a revamp?! At 3am the tv decided to flash . First a red light then a blue light like it was trying to turn on. Was really annoying. Tea and coffee in room which is always nice to have. Breakfast was nice and we all enjoyed that and the staff were Friendly . But we Wouldn’t stay here again sadly."
